Overview:
Tetris 2 is based in the roots of the original and massively popular Tetris, but it twists the gameplay in a unique way. In the original Tetris, players' main goal was to line blocks of various shapes up into complete horizontal rows and make them disappear. In the sequel, eliminating all of those familiar blocks is still the goal, but the means has changed.
Tetris 2 challenges players to eliminate all of the "Flash Blocks" in each level. There are three colors: red, yellow, and blue. Series of blocks can be destroyed by lining up at least three of the same color squares in a straight horizontal or vertical row. When all of a particular color of Flash Blocks are destroyed, the remaining blocks of the same color (currently on screen) are too. Once all Flash Blocks, regardless of color are eliminated, the player progresses to the next level. (The game features 30 such levels.)
The text of the back of the Tetris 2 box is below:

Game Trivia:
- The sequel to Nintendo's Tetris.
- Also released on SNES and in portable form for Nintendo GameBoy.
- The animal outlines in the background of the main Tetris 2 gameplay screen are direct copies of the Nazca Lines of coastal Peru. These lines were created sometime between 200 BCE and 600 CE. Many theories about their origins and reasons for being built are recorded, but none are decisive. Because of their enormous size (sometimes many miles in length and width), the "drawings" must be viewed from the sky. To see a comparisson of photos of the lines and screenshots from the game, click here.
