Game Trivia:
Even though this game is called "Super Mario Bros. 2," It is not a game in its own merit. Originally, the US was scheduled to have the original Super Mario Bros. 2 released. However, Howard Lincoln, President of Nintendo of America at the time, played the game and said that it looked to much like the original Super Mario Bros. and was much too difficult. So, he had programmers take a game called "Doki Doki Panic," remove the original sprites, and replace them with Mario characters. Also, the story of the game was changed around to make Mario the main character.
