- The Blues Brothers were an American band formed in 1976 by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi for the American sketch show Saturday Night Live. The characters names were "Joliet" Jake Blues and Elwood Blues, who went on to appear in their own movie in 1980 directed by John Landis.
