The game had two of the best American basketball players at the time compete against each other. They were:
  • Michael Jeffrey Jordan (b 1963) was a professional American Basketball player who played for the Chicago Bulls (1984 – 1993, 1995 – 1998) and the Washington Wizards (2001 – 2003). He also played Baseball for various teams in 1994 before returning to basketball. Jordan was a NBA Champion six times, won two golds with the USA team in 1984 and 1992, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.
  • Larry Joe Bird (b 1956) was a professional American Basketball player and coach who played for the Boston Celtics (1979 – 1992) and coached the Indiana Pacers (1997 – 2000). Bird was a NBA Champion three times, won Gold at the 1992 olympics with the USA team and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998.
