Each month, RFGen members have been asked to submit a list of their personal top 20 games for a system-

In January, we looked NES-http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?topic=19248.0
February was the Super NES-http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?topic=19263.0
And in March, the Sega Genesis-http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?topic=19279.0

For April, we'll be looking at Nintendo's first 3D based console, the N64-

Launching in 1996, the N64 directly competed with the Sony Playstation and the Sega Saturn, as some of the first home consoles based on 3D technology. The N64 was unique in that it was the last major home console to used cartridge based games, until the Switch in 2017.

But what were the best games? That's for you to decide!

How to participate:

1. Make an ordered list of whatever games are your favorites for the system being covered that month.

-Make your list about what games you think are the best that system has to offer, NOT necessarily the most important. (For example, Super Mario Bros. is one of the most influential games in VG history, but not many would call it a better game than SMB3)

-Also, your list needs to be limited to games you have personally played. Don't include a game just because you've heard it's good, include a game because you know it's good.

-For a few of the games, try to include a few thoughts on why that particular game made your list. That way, those not as familiar with the game can see why it's one they should put on their radar.

2. Personal Message EZ Racer with your ordered list.

Just put "Top 20 games for the (whatever system we're covering that month)" in the subject line. Throughout the month, I will be compiling the results, and release a full list based on votes sent in. I will be putting extra weight on games voted for the top of the lists, so please make sure that your games are listed in numeric order. The reasoning behind a private vote is so that each member's vote can be their own, not influenced by what they think others would want.

The voting cutoff each month will be the last day of the month at 11:59 EST.

Also, the question has come up in previous lists about non-NA exclusives. After seeing the previous lists, I think it best to stick to only NA and PAL releases, that way RFGen members from across the pond can have a voice. But later in the year we'll do something for Japan exclusive titles.

I know a few that have told me they were looking forward to doing an N64 list, so hopefully we'll have great participation with this list.

I had an N64 growing up, but it's a system I haven't revisited as much in recent years. I should still be able to put together a Top 20 list though.

I want to try doing this. This will be harder than the Genesis.

Yeah, I am going to sit this one out.  I'm not a fan of the system and really have only played maybe a handful of games on it. It wouldn't be fair for me to rank a game high on this list just because I have played so few others.  However, I am very much looking forward to seeing everyone's lists and trying out some of their lesser known picks.

There has to be some kind of way to involve people that are not as familiar with systems. Maybe something like if you only submitted a top 10 your games would rank as if they started at 10-20 so they wouldn't have major impacts on the scores of the top 10 games? Just spit balling, but I feel like there is a way that people with less knowledge of a platform could still participate. I'd really like to figure this out because it would be great going forward if a lesser known console is chosen (3DO, TG16, etc) especially if we already have people struggling on a popular one like the N64.

I missed out on getting my Genesis list together due to other priorities, but I think I should be able to get an N64 list together.

Thanks for the needed laugh, buddy! I will be able to come up with a list. There is at least 20 decent games for N64...I’m pretty sure...

This one I'm certain I'm not qualified to participate in. I've probably only played around 20 N64 games. Perhaps not even that many. I've definitely played a few great ones, and a couple stinkers, but my knowledge of the library is not wide enough to want to weigh in. I look forward to the list, though, because I think there's enough good content on the console to warrant list.

I'll be lucky to barely get 20 and I will bet you majority of the games will be Rare games!

After seeing many of the comments from people unsure if they can come with a top 20, and giving it quite a bit of thought, I'll throw this out there-

If you want to participate, but are unsure if you can come up with a full 20, go ahead and still submit a list. For lists with less 20, I will adjust the rankings to compensate for the missing games, and I'm still working out exactly what will work best for all.

For instance, if someone only submits 12 games, I will do my best to spread them evenly so the top games on the list count equivalent to the high ranks on a full 20 list, and the bottom be equivalent to the bottom of a full list.

Bottom line, if possible send a full top 20 list. But if you can't come up with a full 20, go ahead and submit what you can and I'll make it work. I still hope to get as much participation as we can.
