With the new decade already a couple weeks in, I thought it would be nice to see what everyone’s collecting goals are for 2020.

I only have a couple for myself.

1. Reach 500 physical games (362 out of 500)
2. Complete my PlayStation longbox set (46 out of 102)

I want to try and keep my collecting goals a bit more simplified in 2020.

First, work on finishing the licensed NES set (minus Stadium Events). I still have some heavy titles to acquire, but I have gotten a few decent ones out of the way. I am at 648 licensed carts right now, and would be happy with 650 by the years end.

Second, Complete 100 NES games. I am close to this goal right now. I just need to either acquire some manuals to CIB some boxed games, or condition upgrade a few cheap titles to CIB.

These are the rest of my goals:

SNES: 200 games (Currently 188)
Nintendo Switch: 200 games (Currently 175)
PS4: 200 games (Currently 167)
SMS: 100 games total (including PAL/Canadian) (Currently 93)

I didn't meet my goal last year, so I'll reuse it this year - I'd like to get to 3500+ games in the collection, and hopefully get to 400+ Game Boy carts, so that I'd be in the final stretch, of roughly the last 100-ish licensed GB games I need to get. There are some stupid expensive games in there, but hopefully, I can manage it.

My goal is to sell off as many doubles as possible to buy more of the fpga consoles, and wireless controllers for the older consoles

My goals always run between my birthdays rather than calendar years, as that makes more sense to me. Then I can say "When I was X I accomplished Y"

• Finish playing through at least one game for each major console type I own. I've got a little over a month left, and unfortunately added a bunch of new hardware platforms during that time. Might not happen. It did point out that some of my consoles are now broken, though, which I guess is a good thing.
• Move my game collection across the country again and not lose anything this time. First time I lost my Saturn games, last time I lost half of my IndieBox games. Don't ask me how that happens.
• Sell off physical games for consoles that I have a flash cart for and don't have an emotional attachment to. This includes SNES, Genesis, GB/CGB, N64.
• Obtain at least 5 more handheld variants for the collection. This is getting more expensive, since I'm now at a point where I've even got a fair number of low number variants and the remaining ones appear for sale at a reasonable price less often.

That sounds great! I would definitely be interested to see what you have. I don’t have a list of the long box games that I need, but I do have a list on my collection page that I update regularly. So if it’s not on there I don’t have it.

This is the year I will eliminate an entire shelving unit by selling off large chunks of the collection. I've been talking about it since I moved into this house four years ago, and now I'm just a few more ebay auctions and a long rearranging session from achieving this goal.
