1-1-17 - Final Fantasy XV (X1) - I love the first half hated the back half... especially Chapter 13.
1-7-17 - Dead Rising 4 (X1) - A solid game that could have used a little more depth. This game will probably end up gaining traction with a price drop.
1-9-17 - Quackshot (Genesis) - A great title for the system and a Disney game I had not played before.
1-17-17 - Shantae & The Pirate's Curse (Steam) - A good game and I'm looking forward to playing the newest one.
1-25-17 - Rondo of Blood (TCD) - 100% - Great game.
2-8-17 - Resident Evil 7 (X1) - I would love to try this game in VR one day.
2-9-17 - Abzu (X1) - A relaxing game. I recommend it.
2-14-17 - Diablo (PC) - Nothing to see here.... I started to test the game and finished it.
2-19-17 - For Honor (X1) - Rent it to see if you like it. There's more here than you might expect.
3-9-17 - Sniper Elite 4 (X1) - The loop was not as fun as I would have liked but the end boss battle was really dumb and that made it worth it.
3-20-17 - Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning (360) - I was at the end of the game on PC when my hard drive crashed. I'm glad to have finally finished this one.
4-10-17 - Mass Effect Andromeda (X1) - A lot in this game can be forgiven if the plot was better. Sadly it can't.

Stephen Kick: “The thing about classic games was that they were the first for an entire generation. Successive works are going to be important to individuals and even to groups, but never to a whole generation in the same way.”

I should go back and update my 2016 post.
It should be easy i didn't end up completing much...

1. Jan 5 - Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition (XBLA) - The art style of this game is SUPER off putting. I don't remember the story being to stellar either(picked up where i left off years ago and played with no sound this time.). I can't think of another game tied to Atlus that i have hated so much. I haven't started Zeno Clash II yet tho....

Jan 12     SNES     Secret of Mana     level 82
Jan 13     SNES     Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World     51 exits
Jan 30     SNES     Seiken Densetsu 2     level 76?
Feb 03     SNES     Donkey Kong Country 3     75% Complete
Mar 24     PS Vita     World of Final Fantasy     86% Mirage Manual
Apr 06     PS Vita     Child of Light     Normal difficulty, all trophies, one death ('cos I got careless)
Apr 12     PS Vita     Root Letter     Standard ending
Apr 27     PS Vita     Criminal Girls: Invite Only     "Fun Shopping" ending
Jun 26     PS4     Final Fantasy Type 0 HD     Done
Jul 14     PS4     Persona 5     True Ending. 76% Compendium
Jul 15     PS4     Mega Man 6 (from the Mega Man Legacy Collection)     Got Beat, forgot to use him.
Oct 14     PS Vita     Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & The Monster Seal     Credit roll
Oct 29     PS Vita     Dungeon Hunter Alliance     Hero difficulty, Warrior class
Nov 13     PS Vita     Lost Dimension     Normal ending
Dec 18     PS Vita     Final Fantasy X HD Remaster     No Sphere Grid challenge

The ending credits to Japanese SMW were interesting, as the music cut out three or four screens before THE END.  The joys of playing a 60Hz game on a 50Hz console.

Playing two versions of the same game (Secret of Mana) almost back to back was rewarding, but also tiring.

World of Final Fantasy is the second game I've played in the last 12 months where an otherwise English game threw in a Japanese song without including subtitles. This is bizarre because 90% of the game's voice acting is DLC.  This is an interesting game, both in what it achieves and what it doesn't.

Root Letter is a game in which the premise and setup were really great, but I felt a bit let down with the ending and some of the mechanics.  I seem to say that about most visual novels I play which is kinda disappointing in of itself.  The game has multiple endings and maybe these endings will improve the overall experience, but this is not a game that really encourages consecutive playthroughs.

Final Fantasy Type 0 HD was a decent game, but I almost lost it during the final chapter.  Curious note: this game doesn't credit its English voice cast.  This is weird because the English voice acting also appears on Japanese versions of the game.

Persona 5 is a great game, so much so that I beat this game in three weeks of binge playing.  Missed a lot of things, and I don't think it's quite as good as Persona 4, but after waiting for so long beating this was a cathartic experience.

After playing 2 RPGs back to back, burning an evening with Mega Man 6 was a good wind down.

Dungeon Travelers 2 wasn't bad- the character and enemy designs were pretty good, but there were a few times I was stuck due to difficulty.  Trying to keep so many characters at or above optimum level became a bit of a chore.

Dungeon Hunters Alliance is a competent Diablo clone.  Loading times, motion/touch controls and awkward game layout  made this game drag at times, and at times this game felt like it was meant to have a run/quick dodge button.  Added a few decent mechanics.

Lost Dimension is a good turn-based strategy game.

Playing yet another iteration of FFX, but I decided to try a No Sphere Grid challenge to keep things interesting.  I did give Tidus "Cheer" before I had decided on a challenge run, and I did resort to using Zanmato twice Sad .  It did require me to think about battles much more carefully and learn how to use Rikku effectively.

Addicted - glad to see others appreciate Quackshot!  Still such a great, underrated game.

Axiom Verge (Wii U) - January 4th
Nemesis (Game Boy)
Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch) - beat twice on normal mode with "good" ending
The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth + (Switch) - beat in the sense that I reached "Mom" and beat her, got a credits roll
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Game Boy)
Metroid II: Return of Samus (Game Boy)

I spent way too much time on Breath of the Wild, and didn't get to nearly enough games this year...

June 27- Sniper Ghost Warrior (PS3) on Hard                    2.5/5 It was a fun challenge playing on Hard. The game said it took me 8 hours and 8 minutes but I do not think it counts when you have to reload a checkpoint so I would tack an hour or two on that or more maybe. I had been meaning to check out a sniper game for a while now and picked it up check on a Walmart bargain rack last year. The game was not disappointing for the price I had paid for it, but it is far from what I would call a good game. It is at best average or below average. I would not call it bad but I have no interest in ever playing it again. As expected the story wasn't interesting at all but I wasn't buying this for a story I was buying it for a sniper sim and stealth game. Which adds another point, that while it does feel pretty realistic at times others it just feels like your average FPS with a gun that can aim and shoot farther. You are not always perched in places sniping from above but going through levels avoiding detection and sniping whatever enemy comes along. It felt more like a stealth game of avoiding detection as much as it did a strategy of sniping. I will not be checking out either sequel unless I see it for like 5$ or something. Which 2 is almost there but its not a priority at all. I would rather spend money on trying the other Sniping series Elite now that I have seen this one isn't anything good or special. Which I do think will be better. I will probably start from game 1 with that series as well but I have a feeling I will want to buy the rest after playing 1 which wasn't the case here. To add I did one of the three missions in the Unfinished Business section and got bored and pissed and annoyed at mission 2 at a ridiculous section of having to be stealthy and its a very broken level and I did this on Easy so you know its broken when I played 15 mission on Hard without giving up and gave up on a mission while it was on Easy. And gave up on the Challenge mode level. It is easily my least favorite PS3 game that I have played through or own.

Dec 31- inFamous 2 as a good guy on Medium difficulty. All side missions done and most powers acquired. Will grind XP to buy rest of powers in user made missions.

I can't believe I didn't even post a placeholder here...but anyway, I'll get to it.  I only track new completions (or games that I get all the achievements in...yes, I'm a whore), so this list will be missing anything I've beaten in the past, so this isn't everything I've beat this year, only what I've beat for the first time.

January:
Monopoly (SNES) - Finished a game against the maximum number of CPU players.
NHL '97 (SNES) - Okay, so I simmed the season, but I played through the playoffs and won the Stanley Cup.
The Chessmaster (SNES) - Beat the computer on the default settings.
Caesar's Palace (NES) - Got the best car per AdamL's list.
Curious George (Xbox) - My niece had trouble with it (she's 4), but wanted to see the end, so I played through it for her.  Surprisingly fun though!
Rock Band Track Pack 2 (X360) - Played through the career mode on Hard.  I would do Expert, but I can't quite get the later songs.
Batman: Arkham Asylum (X360) - Finished the game on Hard.
Batman: Arkham City (X360) - Would've beat it on Hard if I didn't forget that the save I previously used was set on Easy and didn't realize it until late in the game.  Definitely gonna go back at some point though.
Pocketbike Racer (X360) - Figured I should play through a bunch of quick shit games that have sat for years.  Actually kind of fun, in a glitch-fest sort of way.
Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara (XBLA) - Beat it a crapload of times because I'm an achievement whore.  Got 'em all though.
X-Men Arcade (XBLA) - Again, I beat it multiple times to clear out all the achievements.  Still wondering why it sat on my hard drive unplayed for all these years though Tongue

February:
Pure Chess (XBO) - Another chess game.  Not much to say, but it's definitely fun.
Gears of War (X360) - Beat it on co-op with a friend who wanted to stream it.  I'll never stream a game with him again though...fucking douche Tongue
Mass Effect 3 (X360) - Actually, I beat the entire trilogy, but this was the only new completion I had from it.
Uno (XBLA) - Another full completion.  Not bad, but grinding wins was a bit of a bore.

March:
Risk (PS1) - Played with two human opponents and rounded it out with Hard level AI.
Capcom's Gold Medal Challenge '92 (NES) - Finished on the top of the medal standings for the first time.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (X360) - Finished the career on Veteran.  Hate how they're pretty much ignoring campaign mode these days...
Genghis Khan (NES) - Went through the Mongol Conquest first, then graduated to World Conquest and took over Eurasia.
Nobunaga's Ambition (NES) - Much easier than I'd anticipated it to be.  Ninjas are godly!
Shadowrun (X360) - Yeah, it's a multiplayer-only game, but I did manage to get the full achievement list, so I've marked it off.
Donkey Kong (2600) - Only two boards to beat, and I beat them.
Donkey Kong Jr. (2600) - This one has three boards, and I beat all of them.
Mouse Trap (2600) - One board that repeats endlessly.
Mr. Do! (2600) - Another game with a single board that repeats.  Terrible port.
Carnival (2600) - One board that repeats...kind of a pattern with Atari games.  But hey, a win is a win.
Solar Fox (2600) - Finished all 8 boards on Parent Mode.  Gonna have to go back to do the real thing...20 boards on normal mode.
Wizard of Wor (2600) - Pretty much another infinite loop.  I survived past the wave where the Wizard comes after you.  Didn't manage to kill him though, so I'll be playing it again sometime in the future.
Video Chess (2600) - I was expecting this to be easy.  Boy was I wrong!  It's not flashy, but it's one of the toughest AIs I've played against!
Surround (2600) - Well, at least I don't have to play this crap again Tongue
Indy 500 (2600) - Played through all the solo modes.  Not much else you can do when you only own one driving controller.

April:
Air-Sea Battle (2600) - Beat all solo modes, and boy were there a LOT!  Still fun solo, but I'm pretty sure multiplayer is MUCH better.
Star Ship (2600) - This was a load of utter crap. Yeah, I beat all solo games, but only Lunar Lander mode was actually sorta fun.
Star Trek: Conquests (PS2) - Beat the campaign on normal as the Dominion.  Short, but fun, I'll definitely be going back in the future!

May:
Streets of Rage 2 (XBLA) - I resorted to using a glitch to get the final achievement, but I don't care, it's done Tongue
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (X360) - Beat it a while back, but the final achievement took a bit of grinding out.
The Lego Movie Video Game (X360) - Not as good as some of the Lego games I've played, but it's decent while it lasts.  A fairly easy 1000g if anyone cares Tongue
Combat (2600) - I only count 2-player only games if I beat a friend who is trying to win, and I managed to do that, once, after a bunch of playing.
Frogs & Flies (2600) - Again, I managed to win against a friend who was trying to beat me, so I counted it.
X-Men: The Official Game (X360) - Not as bad as some of the reviews I read claimed.  Another relatively easy 1000g.

June:
Golden Axe (XBLA) - Took a while to find someone to play an online game against, otherwise it's a very easy completion.  Again, beat it ages ago, but I finally got around to knocking the achievements off.
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition (XBLA) - This one hasn't been fully completed yet, as I still have a few achievements left, but since I beat one playthrough, and probably won't do the second for some time, I'm gonna list it.
Gemfire (NES) - I first played it years ago and thought of it as a good starting point for getting into Koei games.  Now that I actually played it through, I gotta say it's far too easy for me to enjoy properly.  Had it been one of my first experiences with Koei games, I think my opinion would be better, but man, is it boring!  Use it as a gateway to the genre, otherwise skip it for something with more depth.

July:
Pinball Dreams (SNES) - Pretty sure this just goes forever, so I used the "beat the high score on every table" method to call it beaten.
Pinball Fantasies (SNES) - Same thing as above.  Both games were okay, nothing special, but yeah, got the high scores on all tables so I'm calling it beat.
Aerobiz Supersonic (SNES) - Love me some Koei games, and this is one of the really good ones.  Only drawback is that it's super short and super easy to beat.  Kinda limits the replay value.
Mario's Time Machine (SNES) - Got the best ending.  My god this was a slog.  Just knocked it off so I never had to fire it up again.  That said, it's still better than the NES version Tongue

August:
Civilization V (PC) - Finished it with (I believe) Boudicca, marathon game, small map.  Love me some Civ!
Final Fantasy V Advance (GBA) - One of those games I bought when it came out and just never fired up.  So, I fired it up, and kicked it's ass.

September:
Pure Chess (XBO) - A bit of a grind getting the Grandmaster achievement, but I managed to do it and put this game to bed.  Love some chess, but even I have my limits. A great simulation though.
Goat Simulator (XBO) - I had more fun with this than I thought I would.  Got all the achievements in the base game, and will buy the DLC as soon as I have money to afford it Tongue
Incredible Crash Dummies (NES) - I fired this up not expecting much.  I ended up finding a hidden gem.  It's got a few flaws, and is a wee bit easy (other than the end boss), but overall I really enjoyed this one!
Sunset Overdrive (XBO) - Finished the campaign.  Still gunning for the 1000g base game (again, can't afford DLC at the moment), but I'm happy to finally get around to finishing the story!
