Arcade Classics Volume One Vinyl

Spoiler (hover to show)
This just came in today and what an interesting music selection of 3 games from the early 90ties Smiley
The music has been remastered and sourced from the Taito archives for nice quality on vinyl.

Night Striker: http://tinyurl.com/h2mbkmt
Metal Black: http://tinyurl.com/zk5jtgg
Elevator Action Returns: http://tinyurl.com/zlbdwuu
Have you listened to your copy?  I got the blue one, and it skips horribly.  I had them send me a replacement, and it also skips horribly.
I have the blue one and it works fine but maybe you have an issue with your turntable Tracking Force/Antiskate settings or the Cartridge might be out of alignment? Make sure the turntable is on a level surface.

I use my dad’s old Sansui 525 turntable and I replaced the old Stanton Cartridge on it some months ago with an Ortofon 2M Red.

Here is a nice video explaining how to setup a turntable so give it a watch if you suspect issues with your settings.
http://tinyurl.com/namww5v

Every other record in my collection plays fine, and I tried multiple settings for anti-skating, and counterweight balance.  I might check that video, though, in case I've missed something.  I have a Audio Technica LP-120 table with stock cartridge/needle, and it plays great for everything else I have, so I'm not sure what I might be missing.  In addition to all the rock and metal I have, I also have a number of game soundtracks, including several of the Data Discs re-issues, and the large Street Fighter II boxset that came out a few months back, and the Mega Man picture disc that Hot Topic had as an exclusive for a while.  They all play just fine.  Sigh...
It sure is strange but the easiest way to check if it's the record itself that's the problem is try it on another record player.
You can probably take the record to a local record store and have them give it a spin.

Unfortunately, I don't have any friends locally who have turntables, and the nearest record store to me closed down, so I would have to drive 1.5 hours to my parents' house to test it on their turntable.  What throws me, like I said, is that EVERY OTHER RECORD I OWN plays fine, and it's just this one that doesn't work.  That lends itself to the issue being the record, not my player or my needle/stylus.

You can try using a magnifying glass near the areas where the record skips but keep the sun away Tongue
See if you can spot anything like dirt but visible scratches are bad and a good reason to request another replacement.

LOL, I don't have a magnifying glass, either, and in the small town where I live, I'm not sure any of the stores will have one.  I might have to check with some of the older folks at church, and see if I can borrow one  Grin

Ratchet & Clank case has a Singstar disc in it instead. I knew this before buying it.

Hey now,

Ratchet & Clank case has a Singstar disc in it instead. I knew this before buying it.

Wait, hold the phone... you knowingly bought a Ratchet & Clank game case without a Ratchet & Clank game in it??? The hell is wrong with you?! I'm seriously considering relisting you and your sister's NSSS claims and let someone more deserving take them. And yes, I'm punishing your sibling for your own misdeed. When she asks why, just explain that it was all your fault. Which it is... YOU MONSTER.

On a more lighthearted note, here are a few notable pickups over the last few days:

- CIB Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales for DS, $4.99 $3.50

- Sealed cutout Guilty Gear X2, $3.95

- Sega Dreamcast console, $5.99 $4.20

- CIB 4 Resident Evil (Player's Choice) for GameCube, $4.99 $3.50

- Capcom 30th Anniversary Character Encyclopedia, $1.95

It's the case and manual I wanted, not the Singstar game! They're in pretty good condition.
I might find a Ratchet & Clank disc to make it complete eventually. Smiley

Yes, I did check the other game cases there to see if the correct disc was in any of those. It wasn't. Sad

Mostly I've been lurking as of late. Life and reasons have kept me busy. There have been game finds going on though, in fact I have a bit more to show but that'll have to wait.

Thrift store game magazines. This seems like a pretty good selection of old paper to me.

My wife got a new phone that does google cardboard. That VR sort of thing on your phone. Looking at the different options for what viewer to get I ordered this one, slightly more than the actual cardboard ones, it is way more comfortable and came with a simple remote. We haven't played with it too much, life keeping us busy as mentioned above, but the little we did play with it was fun.

PRGE 2016 happened and I was there! Well, there for part of it at least. I missed out on seeing fellow RFG people because I didn't get to go on Saturday. Hopefully we can all catch up next year, or at one of the other game events coming up.

Of course we got some laser discs. My wife walked around with them for a bit purposely facing out Enemy Mine. Gets people talking to you for sure.

I haven't ever seen Kagemusha but with a provenance like this, it can't be bad. When my brother in law saw the stuff we got from PRGE, this was what he was most excited about.

Some random stuff. Not pictured is the Wii Fitness board and board holder that came with that workout kit, all three pieces were $1. Notice the price of $0.00 on the box. Apparently resellers don't think highly of Wii Fit stuff.

PSP UMD movies my wife picked out for hardly anything. Plus a handmade Pokemon button that is going to a six year old I know. She talks to me about Pokemon all the time but I know almost nothing about it. I can name about 3 of them if I really think about it.

Filled in the INTV collection a bit. There was big INTV showing at PRGE, I talked with the Inellivisionaries guys for quite a while. Bought the Commando game from the guy who does https://www.naberhood.com/  He also had some even harder to find games but they were a bit much for me. Finally found a game for the e-reader and the Wonderswan. Two consoles I own but had no games for. The Wonderswan game is new too. Plus a speech synthesizer for the Ti994a. The booth I got that from was pretty impressive, kinda made me want to check out that machine more.

The last several years I've been at PRGE, I always end up talking to this guy who has Odyssey^2 games I don't have, ones from other regions in other words. This year I talked with him for quite awhile. This is probably one of the exact carts I've looked at in years past. Also the most expensive single item I bought at the show. I don't think I can play it on my basic US console but it's one game closer to a complete worldwide library, something I am only casually pursuing.

The show was great as always. I didn't spend as much as normal but could have easily. I posted a little more of the actual show here in another thread  http://www.rfgeneration.c...16772.msg243627#msg243627

I hope you don't mind me not taking pictures in my usual spot, but at least you get to see one of our comfy retro chairs. And I'm also dealing with a stuffy-head-cold so if my writing isn't up to it's normal epic world class prose, I'm sorry for that too  Tongue

@nupoile: Nice little haul there! Every time I see a TI Speech Synthesizer I think I should track one down, but one of these days I know I'll run across some. It looks like you had a great time.

My pickups from the weekend.  Maybe I'll finally find out how to win at Nintendo!

Is that a Dodge Challenger?

Ha, yes it is!  But it's my Dad's car, not mine.
