After all this time, we're still only on part 7?

Dude?!?!  Who are you?!!?  How have you been?
I'm doing good, feels like a lifetime ago since I've been active here. I've moved twice, got married almost 4 years ago, and have a son that's almost 3 now. The game collection is boxed up in the basement.

Well, video gaming is dead for you now.

Its been dead for me for 10 years now. I packed it all up when I moved to Pittsburgh and despite having plans to recreate the gameroom, it never happened. I sold some things but that got too time consuming, so it just sits now. I did get a little knockoff GameBoy style NES emulator handheld that my son plays around with a bit.
I do still get to play Simpsons:Tapped Out and Wordle if those count laugh

Well it's been dead around these parts since around when the pandemic began. But then, there were signs of decline before then. The annual donation drive and submissions contest haven't been held in many years now. A blog might be posted once a month, but half the time it's some sort of spam slop pushing online gambling, or for something very tangentially related to gaming. Ironically, they still do the Secret Santa, but I stopped doing the Not-So-Secret Santa a few years back. Mainly cuz I became disabled and wasn't able to thrift anymore.

Shags and I are pretty much the only regulars on the board; most of the big shots now hang out almost exclusively on the aforementioned RFG Discord channel. I go there from time to time to remind them of the DB's existence, and then try to guilt them into posting here from time to time. But nobody gives two doots anymore, so I've pretty much stopped trying.

So... Pittsburgh, huh? Um...neat? I guess? Yinzer nation and all that, hmmm?
Interesting, I would have though the pandemic would have boosted the activity on here. Its kind of sad seeing it like this, I keep seeing the "new message" icon on a topic and then realize the last comment was from 2017 or something. Especially with this being RFGen's 20th anniversary.

Yeah, Pittsburgh. Land of bridges and Heinz ketchup. Its alright, I suppose, I'll probably stick around for a while. I used to love Ohio, but its really gone downhill these last few years.

Wow, I didn't know there was any Ohioan in existence who ever loved Ohio to begin with. Well, maybe Drew Carey. But considering the childhood mental ane emotional anguish he has disclosed in recent years, I seriously doubt it.

The big joke I heard was that a lot of astronauts come from Ohio, and the reason they became astronauts was to get as far away from Ohio as possible by any means necessary. I heard a similar joke about the Wright Brothers inventing powered flight for the same reason.

But hey, if you're looking to live in a place that has decent year-round weather, is rather uninteresting and nondescript, consists of 90% suburban residences, and boasts an obscenely expensive cost of... well, just about everything, then the SIlicon Valley just might be the perfect place for you.
The state is fine, its the people that tend to ruin it. I'll keep my seasons though, I like feeling like I'm baking outside one day and then a couple months later it hurts to breathe from the cold. There is much less of that here than there was in Ohio though, and there's hills, actual hills, those are kind of cool I guess.

Tomorrow at 5:45 I have a vet coming to the house to put my oldest dog down. I got Baxter when I was dating my wife back on 1-1-11. He was already about a year old. I am going to miss my little buddy. We will be down to 3 dogs for the first time in over a decade.

So sorry to hear this. I lost my 1st dog to a larger dog attack in the park back in 2014, and I was heartbroken for the longest time. I still miss her.
