Here's my best proof of score. Got to the final boss, but with 2 hits left it didn't last very long.

Here's me beating the game on a different run. On this run I took a picture after I beat the final boss, but sometimes my phone does this cute little thing where it turns off while I'm taking a picture, so I have no proof of my best score, but it was 680,000ish. I also had 4 lives left fwiw. I'm pretty sure both of my scores will hold up so I'm not too worried about it.

Here's a few tips to those who are struggling
- I see some people picking Greg. Does Greg look like a hero? No. He's dogshit.
- I see some people picking Mickey. His ability is worthless. Don't pick him.
- Shin gives you max fire power the fastest. This ability only becomes worthless near the very end of the game. Until then, it's worth it's weight in gold.
- Aside from Stage 1 and the truck levels, buy every weapon you can for every stage.
- Save Mega Crush for all boss battles. Best used to take out a bunch of mini cannons or little guns that are hard to reach.
Here's my route
- Stage 1
- First plane level
- The top stage (desert level)
- Buy the 2nd plane (this will be your plane for the majority of the game)
- Second plane level or Submarine
- Second plane level or Submarine
- The bottom stage (sea level - probably harder than the forest level, but it's just my route)
- The middle stage (forest level)
- Buy the $500,000 plane (the second best plane)
- The bottom level (canyon level)
- The top level (mountain level - crazy hard boss, Mickey's ability could come in handy here, but Shin can handle him)
- Final level
Note - I don't think it's possible to afford the best plane without continuing. You really need to save money for it. If you get it, you're special weapons are so overpowered (i.e. - it can hold 2 Mega Crushes) that any boss shouldn't be a problem.

Scores updated. Please be sure to check yours. Don't forget that today is the last day to post scores for U.N. Squadron and Xyanide until the Battle Royale.
Also, congrats on finishing the game Jerry!

This game got a lot better and a lot more fun once I learned to switch cannons.

I HEAR THAT! When I figured out there was a stronger laser to deal with larger enemies and bosses, I was finally able to get past the first boss

Yep, same here. I kept timing out without the stronger cannon.

The controls are a mess. I have a bunch of other issues with the game too. I dunno if I'll pick it up again after this month.

Sorry, but I completely disagree. I think the controls on this game are fantastic and very responsive for how the game is set up and what you are asked to do. The two sticks provide great control and the upper triggers work well to switch your cannons. These are the really the only three buttons/sticks you use and I find it very simplistic and user friendly. If you want to talk about complex controls, wait until you play Sin & Punishment.
I was a little sure about Xyanide the first few times I played it, but now I really, really dig it.
