The Nintendo 64 RF Modulator (NUS-003) connects to the MULTI OUT port on the console. This piece of hardware is to be used in conjunction with the Nintendo 64 RF Switch (NUS-009), which was sold separately in Japan. In every other region both pieces of hardware were sold together, making the Japanese releases unique in that they both received separate packaging.

The Nintendo 64 RF Switch/RF Modulator includes the following:

• NUS-003: RF Modulator - Connects to the Multi Out port on the back of the console.
• NUS-009: RF Switch - Connects the RF Modulator to the TV.

This was the second release for the RF Switch/RF Modulator and it came inside a cardboard box with a small blurb stating "COMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW SUPER NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM" on the lower left corner of the package. The part number on the box flap is NUS-A-RR-USA-1. The RF Switch and RF Modulator did not change part numbers during the Nintendo 64's lifespan, however, the physical packaging would see three different releases.
