Today I'm reviewing one of the best point and click adventure games ever - The Secret of Monkey Island. It combines great music and visuals with laugh out loud humour. It also represents a departure from adventure games of its time by being much less punishing towards its players. I'll be mainly talking about the original but I'll also touch on the Special Edition released in 2009 and how it compares.

one of the best point and click adventures, next to Sam and Max, and the Maniac Mansion games.

One of my favorite games. I agree that the new aesthetics have no character. Pixel art looks so much better for this game. Are you going to cover the other Lucas Arts remakes soon? (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle)

@Addicted:I think I will do Full Throttle, I started it last week. Probably not Day of the Tentacle though, I just played it for the first time a few months ago and don't really want to play again to record/write about it.

@Pam: I'm looking forward to your Full Throttle review. It's a great but short game.

Great review, loved it! Maybe the following is old news, but just in case:  The Special Edition Collection was released on physical disc for the PS3 and Xbox360 in Europe only. It contains the remastered 'Monkey Island' and 'The Secret of Monkey Island'. Title: Monkey Island. Special Edition Collection.
