I first played Phantasy Star IV last year and was very pleasantly surprised by the soundtrack. The final boss theme 'Ooze' was a track I wanted to cover, so I started arranging it last December only to discover that I would need a 7-string guitar to make the arrangement work. I had to put this one on hold for a while, but the cover itself came together pretty quickly once I got my hands on the new guitar. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Every time I see you in the thumbnail, I think to myself, "man, that 331Erock guy has bulked up a bit in recent months! And what the heck happened to his arm tats?! Very odd..."

On a more serious note: yep, this sounds like a "final boss" theme, all right. The part that really hit me ran from 2:37 to 2:50; the odd meter of that section had me feeling a bit disoriented (albeit in a good way). It led me to wonder if the final boss of Phantasy Star IV has an attack that disorients the player? Or am I reading too deeply into the whole thing? In any case, I'll be eagerly waiting to see what you'll put out next time! Until then...

@Zagnorch P. Welinskivich II, Esq.: Ha! I can kinda see the Erock resemblance now that you mention it.

I think the section you mentioned is in a standard 4/4 meter, but there are some weird rhythmic things going on that probably make it seem disorienting. I don't know, I'm not very knowledgeable about music theory and I transcribed this track by ear so I could be mistaken about that, but that's how I have it laid out. I don't remember if the final boss has attacks that disorient the player, but I wouldn't be surprised. That's a very 'final boss' thing to do, haha. It was definitely a tough fight regardless.

Thanks for listening and checking out the videos. It's much appreciated!

@Disposed Hero: Perhaps "meter" wasn't the correct term to describe it. While I have an appreciation for music, I'm not as caught up on the terminology as I should be. Methinks "rhythm" is indeed the proper descriptor, so thank you for the clarification. Oddly enough, that part had me thinking of the opening of "Down and Out" by Genesis, which has this interestingly off-kilter guitar riff that starts about 30 seconds in... and pretty much keeps going on through to the end, with the exception of the choruses (chorii?).

ANYway, I eagerly await your next aural confection-- yikes, that sounds kinda wrong, doesn't it? Eh, I think you know what I mean. Catch ya next time...
