It's been a while, and for once its not because of a lack of deals. In fact, the deals kind of became a hindrance of getting this written. I know, I know, I'm either not getting enough deals or I'm getting too many, whah whah whah. Maybe some day I'll get just enough bargains to make a worthwhile write up will not overloading my game room with boxes to sort through. Actually, a nice sealed Stadium Events sounds like a good thing to look for in that regard, maybe I'll pick one up next week while I'm out.

But, enough about what's going to happen next week, you want to know what I found this week. Well, I'll get to that in a moment, but first, a change and an addition to Treasure Hunt Chronicles. Which do you want me to explain first? It doesn't matter what you want, this was written days before you read it, and the order in which I explain them is already set. But, if you said "I want to read about the change first" then you're in luck, because that's what I'll explain first. Its a simple change, but Treasure Hunt Chronicles will now be posted on Thursdays. This gives me a few more days to write them up, and it allows room for the addition to the series.

That addition is actually a pretty big one, and involves all of you out there. Starting with this installment, the stuff I buy at garage sales from now on will be available to you for the prices I pay for it! Here's how it works. When I buy a lot of systems/games, I take out and keep whatever I didn't already have, the remaining stuff gets put up on GameGavel.com with the starting price being what I paid for the lot. Now, if I buy some massive lot, I'll split it up into manageable size lots with appropriate starting bids (most likely the price I paid divided by the number of auctions I make it into). And if I buy a lot and keep most of it or the valuable parts of it, I'll lower the starting bid to a below reasonable price or add some other items to it.
The auctions will run 10 days and have no reserve price. I'll generally be auctioning off items from the previous week's hunt, so what you saw last week will be available this week, and what you see this week will be available next week. At least that's the plan, we'll see if it actually works out.

Now, onto the deals!

We'll start off with a bang this time. I picked all this up from one place, a local thrift store in fact. There's even a somewhat interesting story behind it. My dad and I were out doing our normal garage saling when he mentioned the thrift store, he said they were having an anniversary sale. Normally, I wouldn't bother going to this store during garage sale time because they never have anything good, but he mentioned they were having free refreshments, so I decided it was worth a quick stop. As usual, there wasn't anything good in the store for me. But, my dad picked up a bag of brick mortar. It was an 80lb bag, so I pulled the truck around back so it could be loaded easier. While I'm sitting in the truck waiting for the cement, I notice a stack of boxes sitting outside near the door, and what do I see sticking out of one of the boxes? An Atari 2600! So I get out of the truck and start looking through the boxes, I see there is a lot of stuff there I already have, but some things looked new to me. I wasn't sure what they were going to do with the stuff;Trash it? Sell it? Maybe they just got it in on donation?
When an employee came up, I asked him what the stuff was for. He went and got their electronics guy, Joe. Joe tells me it was all in the back and never got put out for sale. When I said I'd be interested in buying it all, he went and got someone higher up. This guy brings a sheet of paper that had prices on it. Systems were $15, games were $3 each. So this guy starts going through and counting the systems and games. I'm thinking "Oh great, he's going to say $100 or something". This whole time, I'm thinking of just offering $50, but I don't. After what seemed like an hour, he says "how about $30 for everything". DEAL! So we load it up in the truck, and I go back inside to pay.
But, there's a kicker, that Xbox in the picture wasn't included in the original lot. But as I was leaving, Joe comes running up with it, and hands it to me.

I haven't had a chance to test all of it yet, but I know the Xbox is RROD after I bought a $10 power supply at the flea market. The Xbox isn't an Arcade model either, but an early model from mid-2006. The other consoles were marked as working or not working, as they were tested by some students. But they had things like both A/V cords in the SNES, a pair of headphones in an Atari power port, etc so I don't really trust what they claim them to be.
There are a lot of hookups missing, but there are 4 SNES/N64 A/V hookups, which will go great with the couple SNES and N64 systems I have that are missing them. So I figure it evens out at least.

I got these at two garage sales. GoW2 was $4 and the other was $5. Both are CIB and GoW looks like it has all the appropriate inserts even.

Snagged these beauties from the flea market. The guy had at least 50 different lunchboxes from the past 30 years. All boxes were $4 each, thermoses were $2 each. I got both for $5.

Also got these at the flea market. The seller was asking $3 per game or $15 for all. I knew I need most or all the Atari XE games, and I figured I might need some of the others, so I offered $10 for them all. He immediately accepted. Probably could have gotten them for $5, but oh well, still a good deal.

Less than ten spots away from that sale, I see this stuff hidden in a box on the ground. I ask how much it was and the guy gave me a price of $20 for the systems, after a long back and forth of whether I wanted to buy them all (he had trouble understanding I only wanted them all if I knew the price), I said I'd give him $20 for the consoles plus the games, he said $30. Which I agreed on. After going through the games, I don't know if they were worth the extra $10, I only kept a few of them. I convinced him to throw the box in for free since he was just using it to haul around other crap he was selling. He wouldn't let me have the NES box he was doing the same with.
In case you can't tell, that is an actual Heavy Sixer, which I was very happy to find out actually works. The 7800 is a little iffy, there's no cords so I can't test it, but it had sand, grass, and dried pop inside, so I'm doubtful it works.
