I found these in a box of random kid's toys at a garage sale with $0.25 price stickers on each, I got them both for $0.25. I actually thought I had both of them, but I didn't have Rampage so it was better than I first thought.
Picked these up at a garage sale that had a ton of games and DVDs. Most of the games were on a table with somewhat high prices, and I didn't see anything I really wanted but then I saw a box under the table that said "untested - $0.25 each". Most of the box was DVDs and only a few PS2 games, but nearly everything had water damage. Ultimate Spider-Man is in excellent shape, but Reservoir Dogs does have a water damaged box insert although the disc looks fine.
And continuing the $0.25 each theme, these were also marked $0.25 each at another sale, I paid $0.25 for both. Does anyone know much about the DK plush, it feels like there is some kind of noise box inside, but there is no way to open it up?
This garage sale had quite a few gaming stuff, but a lot of it was stuff I already had. The GameCube stuff was priced at $25, the PS2 game was $5, the Game Boy games were $1 each and the DC games were in a small CD binder without a price, so I put it all together and offered $20, which was accepted. The GCN is CIB except the Pokemon game disc and all the games are CIB except MK:DD which I already had CIB.
Got these in a trade with Shadow Kisuragi (awesome trader BTW, don't hesitate to deal with him). The Genesis boxes don't have the games, I wanted them because I already had the cartridges.
My dad picked these up at a garage sale on a Thursday. He won't tell me what they cost and hasn't asked me to pay him back, so they must have been free or really really cheap.
And now the part you've been waiting for, the super ultra mega haul!
This came from the flea market on Sunday but not the one I usually go to. There is another small flea market that we occasionally stop at, but since its a rather long drive and there are maybe a dozen vendors, we don't do it every week. But this Sunday we were having some people over, and I knew once we got home I would just have to clean, so I made the call to go to the other flea market. When we got there, I decided to leave my list in the car and somewhat jokingly told my dad that I'd have better luck without it. We walked the flea market until I came to the very last two tables, I wasn't really paying a whole of attention to the one side as only one person was set up on that side of the row. But as I turned around, I notice a couple Game Boy games on the table marked $1 each, and then I notice a pile of Xbox games, most marked $1 each. So I picked out the good $1 ones and had a good size stack and noticed another table (the spot was setup in a U shape) that had a similar situation for PS2 games, so I picked out the good $1 games. And then I did this again on the other table with PS1 games. Then the guy points out two huge bins of random cartridges for $10.
Out of curiosity, I asked what he would take for everything since he had said he would take $300. It sounded like a decent price so I looked at everything he had and realized it was a good buy, so I offered him $250. He said he would take it, I borrowed $160 from my dad and I had $80 on me, and he said he'd take the $240. It took us a while to pack it all up, and I even sold a set of cheap picks for $3 and some CDs. The guy had the CD's marked $1, but was selling them for $0.50. But the people that bought CDs paid me the $1 each for the 5 they bought.
The real challenge came when it was time to pack it all up in the car. We were driving my dad's Buick Century which is a mid-size, but the trunk was half full of tools and stuff my dad keeps there all the time and a box of newspaper that was going to the recycling bin. We ended up having to throw out the newspaper, but got everything inside somehow. I rode with a box on my lap and there was another box in between us on the front seat and the back seat was filled from floor to roof.
Everything I got is in the following picture, from the Rock Revolution box to the right, including the track lighting, dremel tool, and box on top of the black crates that isn't very visible. In total, there are 3 of the big black totes and 8 of the smaller crates. I spent the better part of last night (I was up until 2:00 AM) sorting stuff by system since it kind of all got thrown together when we originally packed up. But haven't come up with a total number of games purchased just yet.
I normally try to get everything in one picture, which clearly wasn't possible this time, so below is a shot of the contents of each of the boxes to give you a better idea of the total treasure.
First up is a disc cleaning machine! I kind of always wanted one, but could never see myself actually buying one. But now I can try to buff out the discs that I had given up on previously. These retail for $200 new, and go for about $100 used, so I could always sell it if I wanted.
Some Game Boy and DS games and PS1 and Xbox memory cards. I'm really excited about the Mario Kart DS, that was one I really needed to get.
This is what is in the box on top of the black crates in the first picture. From what the guy says, it's a kit to build a MAME cab. I haven't looked into it any more or even looked through the box yet. I'd love to build a MAME cab or convert my Jail Break cab into one, but I may end up just selling this kit.
The PS1 games. There are two rows of games on the bottom of the crate and then the ones you see on the top.
The SNES games. There's not a lot of them, but a few look like ones I needed.
The 2600 games. There are three rows on the bottom of the crate and then the ones top you can see. Surprisingly, there are a few in here that I need as well, including on of the double ender games.
The Genesis games. Not a lot useful to me here, but a few loose games is still better than none.
A mix of games, mostly N64, but also GameCube, Dreamcast, Jaguar, Odyssey^2, PS3, INTV, DS, and SMS.
The NES games. There are even a few games in here that I needed, and there are only 3 or 4 SMB/DH carts.
The Xbox games. One crate is full to the brim, the other is full well past the brim. I need almost all of these, so my Xbox collection is going to at least double, maybe triple.
The PS2 games. There are two rows on the bottom plus the few stacks you can see on the top. This will probably just about double my PS2 collection.
The random accessories. There is a bit of everything in here, from PSP to TV hookups, NES controller reproductions, PC Game controllers, hookups (mostly Xbox for some reason), even the store's barcode scanner. The tote is absolutely packed with stuff.
The music CDs and movies. There are a total of 4 rows of CD's (a lot more than I thought were then when I bought the lot) and a few DVD's, Blu-Ray movies and an HD-DVD movie. I'll try to sell most of the CD's but a few I'll keep. There are no really big names that I'm interested in, but a few somewhat popular 80's metal bands I'll be keeping. The movies are all pretty bad. The highlight would be The Three Amigos.
Overall, an excellent haul for sure. But I know what you're thinking. That you can't see most of the titles and 90% of the games must be sports titles or duplicates. However, there are almost no sports titles, maybe a dozen or so. The duplicates you ask? Surely there are dozens of ET's and Pac-Man carts in the crate of 2600 games. However, again there are almost no duplicates. In the few instances of duplicates, there are only 2 maybe 3 of the same game, and a lot of them are decent games.
So I've got this huge potential to beef up my collection and make a few bucks, but its going to be a lot of work. Just sorting them took hours, entering them all into my collection is going to take forever.
The rather strange aspect of this whole thing is that two days earlier on Friday, I decided to take a break from garage sales and especially from buying stuff just to resell. This decision came about because in the last month I had spent over $60 on gas going to just garage sales, and with my only income being selling games, I needed to spend my time selling instead of buying for a while. But then this haul comes along and makes me really want to get back out there because you just never know what is waiting out there to be found.
