OK, OK, I know, I've been slacking with these this year. For crying out loud, its practically June, and I'm only on number 3? The year started out rather slow with the sales, but my excuse this time s that my laptop died on me a couple weeks ago. It looks like the hard drive in it is shot, so all my info on it is gone since the last time I backed everything up was in October. I've been using my old laptop, but its ridiculously slow, so I've been avoiding most activities that involve using the internet and a couple other programs, so this has been one of the things I've been avoiding. But my stack of purchases is piling up and its really bothering me not having done a new entry, so here it is. This was my haul from my first sale of the day a couple weeks ago. This was a great garage sale, not just for games but the way it was set up. Everything was priced, organized, and they were willing to negotiate. They had like 4 tables of DVDs for $1 each, but they were being grabbed up quick and a quick glance didn't reveal any that I really wanted. The systems were on a table marked $5 for the DC, $15 for the Genesis/CD/32X combo and the "Sega games" were $1 each. Playstation games were $2 each. Some of the PSX, PS2, and the PC games were in the box with the Sega games, but I through in a couple more PS2 games I wanted and the guides, and was ready to make an offer on all of it. I thought about offering him $50 for it all, but I decided to ask what he would take for it all. To my surprise, he said $30 would take it all. So I agreed, and he brings over a bag with the controllers and AC adapters. He then helped me box it all up and carry it to my truck. As I was finishing loading it all up securely, I realized I forgot something. I actually forgot to pay the man! So I walked back up to the house and paid him his money. He seemed rather surprised, I don't know if it was because I was honest or if it was because he forgot to get paid.
Also at the sale I bought a box of drywall screws (great for building and hanging stuff) and a Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band poster for another $1.
I found this a little later that day, among a pile a Playstation sports games for $5 a piece. This was marked $5, and I didn't even bother haggling since it was such a great price.
Found these at the Wednesday flea market. They were among a few games, all marked $3 each. I really only wanted FF7 and the NES games, but I figured I could get all four for $10, so I grabbed the Episode 1 Racer game for the extra $1. As I suspected, he accepted $10 for all four. The FF7 is for sale if anyone wants it, it is missing the 3rd disc, but the other two are near mint.
These came from a garage sale with a few more Xbox games, but the other either weren't CIB or were games I didn't care for. I figured $1 a piece was a good enough price, so I paid the asking price on these.
I spotted these at a garage sale each with a $3 sticker. I wasn't sure if it was $3 each or $3 for both, so I asked the woman there which it was. She started rambling about how they had everything set up in the basement, and it flooded, but these were the only things that were off the ground and stayed safe from the water. But never actually answered my question. So I told her I'd take them and handed her a $10, and she gave me $7 back in change, so I guess it was $3 for both.
This sale had an NES with about 20 games for $65 for everything or $2 each on the games. I picked these out as I need the first three, and figured Super C would be a fairly easy sale. As a small bonus, once I got home I realized there was a neat LOZ sticker on the game sleeve.
This was my sole purchase this Saturday. They were from a guy that has sales a couple times a year, and I always buy at least one thing from him. The first thing I spotted was a table with a free sign on it. I picked out everything above except Toy Story and BC Racers from the table. I would have felt guilty just taking the free stuff so I picked up these two games for $2 each. Both are CIB and I needed the box/manual for Toy Story and BC Racers anyway. No stats this week, since my game list that I use for my official count and the spreadsheet I keep track of purchases and sales were on my old hard drive that no longer works, it will be a while before I get everything in order again.

Nice finds, especially that first lot!

Man Ive gone to a lot of garage sales and found a lot of great stuff but I've never seen one with even half the cartridge game quantity of your first buy there. Very Nice Find!
|
Where are the pictures of the drywall screws?
Seriously, if I ever found a garage sale that had a fraction of what you find around here, I'd be broke.
|
Garage sales have video games? I think I've only ever seen 2 random garage sales with games around here in 2 years, and the games were picked through 20 minutes before the sale was even open. I wish I had your luck.

@Shadow Kisuragi:I constantly find games at yard sales
|
I've stopped at over 50 yard sales/garage sales in the past year, and only one had games. The person advertised Atari and NES games, and an Atari collector cleaned him out of his Atari games as he was setting him.
It's too competetive here!

damn that first haul was amazing, especially the sms 3d games
|
I forgot to mention that that first lot was so massive that I had to sand on the couch and hold the camera above my head to get it all in frame, and even then it just barely fit.
@Shadow Kisuragi: I'm really lucky in that I have virtually no competition. There have only been a handful of occasions where I've seen people buying games that I thought may have been collectors, but I can't think of a single time when I've seen the same person more than once. When I'm saling, I see the sellers from the flea market all the time, but never the video game sellers. And I've talked to them before, and they get most of their stock from garage sales, but I guess they're just not saling in the same area that I do, which is fine with me. They can find all they want wherever they're getting it from, as long as they don't come into my territory.
@bickman2k: I'll show you them in the chat, there are some things that I just can't show everyone.

As always, great finds.

We have the largest flea market in the US where I live and I know of at least 10 different collectors in the Orlando area, whom I never see in my area. All of the vendors know their prices, so the only decent deals are garage sales and they get picked clean by people hired by resellers, vendors or just straight collectors.
...I might just travel one day to hit up garage sales instead of hitting up my area.

Nice hauls

@NES_Rules: Competition? den68 lives out here, so there is no wonder I haven't found a game at a garage sale in 2 years (the thrift stores have looked mighty sparse as well). People out here put stuff on ebay or craigslist, and don't get me started on the flea markets...
NES_Rules, I wish den would move near you...

I don't know of any members that live in the Denver area, but once I move, I am hoping to find that I am the only collector looking for video games, although in a city of almost 4 million people, I am not holding my breath. Although I have had my share of luck finding some rare and/or cheap video game items at garage sales, found my Jaguar at one. My wife also has found several rarities for me at thrift stores such as a SEGA Pico, a Master System, and a 32X.

great finds as always the first find is just amazing!
@Shadow Kisuragi- Im guessing your talking about Flea Word (havent been out there in years lol). Stay out of far east orlando I live here and theres never much more than ps2 games.

@bombatomba:From the size of his collection, I would say that he will probaly never leave anything behind for you ever again
|
@bickman2k: Yea, I totally agree. I never find crap like that here. It's all baby clothes. Anyways, good finds. especially the Nomad.
