Today I'm looking at one of gaming's lesser known mascots - Bonk! I review the original Bonk's Adventure on the TurboGrafx-16, as well as look at a bit of his history and the history of the console to explain why Bonk never made it big in North America like Mario or Sonic.

Great video.  I love Bonk's Adventure, and I'm slightly jealous of your boxed copy Smiley

I see your point about him being a bit slow, and I get that.  It never bothered me, because that's the general pace of the game, which is fine.  I never realized there were only 5 levels, however.  I have got closer to beating the game than I thought.  I really like the soundtrack as well, especially that first area music - it's insidious!  I also like all the "disturbing" things about Bonk, like climbing with your teeth, or foaming at the mouth when you die.  It's part of what separates Bonk from the rest of the crowd, and is an early example of that 90's "tude" situation, but before the market became over-saturated with it.  It helped lead the charge with that kind of thing, and did so in a way that was unique, so I appreciate it for that.  Plus, it's amusing, and helps soften the blow when you die.

The 5th level is quite long, I didn't manage to make it through to the end.
