Sorry for the outage yesterday folks - we were attempting to optimize some of our databases in an attempt to help with the performance issues and it was a bit overaggressive. We've restored the databases, and made some changes to help with forum performance by splitting some of our larger threads (very overdue for the Small Scores thread). However, we're still struggling with I/O performance on the server itself, which Bickman has been taking the lead on and discussing with our host provider. We have a few options available to us depending on the actions we need to take, and it's my hope that this all gets sorted out by the end of the week, in one way or another. So, I'd like to add a few things in here as well.
Splitting topics is something that was long overdue for a few topics. Those have been split and locked for the old topics. Historically, they were split at 6000 posts. I did approximately that just to keep the flow on the new topics.
Our host has basically been like that guy you get when you call your ISP. "Have you tried rebooting it?" "We can sell you something to help out." "It's obviously not the thing you said it was." Still haven't heard back since my last message...
We'll try to keep as much communication as we can. If we have to drop the forum to maintenance mode again, I'll update the message in there as well so everyone can stay up to date.
Please feel free to get in the chat room if you have any concerns. Personally, feel free to send me an email if you have any concerns with the site, especially if you can't get in to send a PM.

Don't mind the name though, I run a platform neutral site, it's just part of their marketing. I normally wouldn't pitch a hosting provider, but these guys are so quick to respond, my longest reply from them was about 20 minutes wait time, which was also about 4am in their time zone. I used to work with 1and1, GoDaddy, and a few others and I was getting priority ticket responses in 48+ hours.
