It's June 2020, and with another month of being primarily homebound due to COVID-19, I was able to catch up on a few more films. Here some reviews for a handful of them:
Reptillian - As I settled in for this viewing, I did not realize I was about to see one of the most infamous kaiju films of all time.
Reptillian is an English language Korean reboot of the
Yongary series created in response to the 1998 American
Godzilla film. The acting is so bad it falls into that uncanny valley territory that feels like a bad dream. The CGI is terrible. This movie unfortunately is not even so bad it's good. Avoid at all costs.
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey - I saw this movie in a theater with my dad while on vacation in Florida in the 90's. I remember enjoying it and it's the only thing I remember about that vacation for some reason. As a sequel, it isn't as fun as the first film, but they definitely were creative enough with the plot that is it worth checking out, especially to get caught up before viewing the third film which is coming soon.
Predestination - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this time-looping adventure starring Ethan Hawke and Sarah Snook. This is a case where the less you know about the film going into it the better, so suffice it to say I give it a strong recommendation for anyone who enjoys provocative sci-fi adventures.
Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris - I don't know why it took me so long to get to the third entry in the masterful Heisei
Gamera trilogy but having seen the first two entries last year, I finally viewed
Revenge of Iris and I am aligned with the chorus of fans who have proclaimed this to be the best kaiju trilogy ever. I would take it a step further and say that it is the best film trilogy I have ever seen, period. It appears to me that the blu-ray set of this trilogy has become a little sought after and thusly the price has risen as of late, so I'm glad I got my hands on it when I did a while back.

Godzilla vs King Kong - As much as I love Godzilla, I couldn't care less about King Kong. He's just a giant ape. A monster that is just a giant version of an existing animal does not interest me at all. I have never seen
Godzilla Vs King Kong for this reason but I have been watching the whole
Godzilla series recently. The Showa Era
Godzilla boxed set only has the American version of this film, and although there were some entertaining and funny parts, I really didn't enjoy this film at all.
