What's your prefered Gamerfuel?

Getting poll results. Please wait...

monster_energy-logo.jpgIt's late. You glance at the clock on the wall; 1:47AM. You and your online 'pals' are deep in a game of Call of Duty 4. Throwing a grenade, you have what has plagued all of us, all of our lives, tiredness. You cry out to your teammates "Back in 5, I need some instant energy!"

Stumbling through the darkness, you are greeted with the age old task, how to stay awake...

So yeah! How do all of you take on the big bad tiredness monster? Do you ignore it completely, and play until passing out? Do you submit and go to sleep? Or do you use one of the 'age old' methods listed here?

What's your favorite caffeinated soda or energy drink, if these methods are used?

Do you regret having caffeine ever? Why?

Just some questions that I want to here from You, the reader!!! This is the first in a (hopefully) ongoing so-called 'question' blogs, where I ask you the question. A sneak peak of the next question is 'How did you find rfgeneration in the first place?'

So, whadda ya say? Let's here some responses! Cheesy

My Post had no value, and was subseqently edited.

I've never been a fan of caffeine. I can't stand coffee and Coke and will only rarely drink Pepsi, and I've never had an energy drink (except some Red Bulls, but that was mostly Jägermeister, so it doesn't really count). So, when I'm tired, I usually just go to sleep or push through, or perhaps have something sugary.

However, if I did drink energy drinks, it'd be Gamerade. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j22/Mike_2_0_0_6/nes002.jpg

I've tried several energy drinks, including Monster, Red Bull, and others. But haven't used them in a long time because they lost their effectiveness.

Recently, I tried 5 Hour Energy in the little bottle that it comes in, and I think it's GREAT! No sugar, the caffeine equivalent of 1 cup of coffee, and no crash later. I highly recommend it. They also have a no-caffeine version, but I haven't tried it yet.

in a un-realted note. Monster energy drinks was just sold to Coca-Cola Bottling Company from Pepsi-Cola Group.

Im the same way as NES_Rules, I either push through it own my own or just go to bed. I dont ever drink coffee/tea and rarely have pop of any kind. Worst case senario I just get up and move around/have a cold shower and pause the game for a few moments.

well, my choice certainly wouldn't be Mountain Dew: Game Fuel (featuring the Master Chief of Halo 3 fame) that stuff was too sugary and sweet.

They usually don't have caffeine but the sugar is enough to keep me alert, so I usually go with root beer or orange soda.

Who loves orange soda?

I enjoy caffeinated drinks, such as Coke/Pepsi or even sometimes a Monster Energy drink, however I have never found caffeine useful in giving me any sort of energy, or keeping me awake. Thus, I only have them very rarely.

I just go to sleep, and resume play in the morning :-P

I usually try to stay awake, and if I don't, its 2 in the morning Tongue.  But I really like NOS, it doesn't taste like medicine, plus it gives it actually tastes good.

Any caffeinated cola really. Either that or one of those energy drinks are ok.

@Rajaat the Warbringer: HA! That works too!

I never feel tired at 1:47AM. I can easily stay up until 4AM without needing energy drinks. However I try to go to bed "early" (12PM during weekdays, 1AM in the weekends/vacation) because staying up later results in my sleeping until 12AM or so. Wink

I love to drink coffee during the day, but never ever past 7PM or I can't fall asleep. Tongue

I tend to ban myself from energy drinks unless it's a "it's still morning but I'm knackered" feeling (or a mid-day beverage, whatever, just not at night) since the time I drank one at 11pm and then was awake until the next night... still not sure how that happened.

Usually a cold glass of Coke will fix my tiredness for a little while, but usually it's the eye strain which sends me to sleep, that's when you know it's time to get out of the game!

@Alfador: Oh, that sounds like just about everything you say. Wink

Anyway, I don't do caffeinated drinks myself, so I just tend to grab something like a root beer and get by with the sugar that's in it.

Coke drinker here, though Mellow Yellow is my favorite (and impossible to find here in PA).  For serious late nights, some Mountain Dew, and for some -Let's-play-this-new-game-all-in-one-shot nights (Gears2, Halo2/3, etc) I may go to 5 Hour Energy (really works as advertised!)

I normally do a line of coke. It's pretty good at keeping you awake.

I stick with caffeinated beverages like Coke and Dr Pepper. Yummy.

Mountain Dew all the way

I live off of dr. pepper (best invention ever) and drink so much caffeine in general that soda doesnt work. When I need to stay up my answer is super strong coffee or a red bull or amp. But really as much as I miss all night sessions I just cant bring myself to do it when I know works coming up the next day.

Good idea about the askablog btw logical123

Energy drinks are terrible. All of them. They taste like butt.

I used to drink 6-8 cans of Dr. Pepper a day, but it started to make my stomach turn, and I've been off of soda ever since. When I need something to drink, it's usually orange juice.

flavoured Aquafina water is always good

@BadEnoughDude:

Bad Enough Dude, you must live in the states. Canadian energy drinks are awesome! That's what I kick back to keep me going - Beaver Buzz energy drinks. I drink about a 12 pack of diet Dr. Pepper (or quite a few litres of Crystal Light) throughout the course of my day. The little extra kick I get from a good energy drink buys me a few more hours.

Note to folks that aren't fans of energy drinks - try energy drinks from different countries. To my experience (and I try everything I can get) the ones in the states have a mediciney taste. There are import options that taste like teas, coffees, and sodas.

@Antimind: Mike got me hooked on Full Throttle. It's FANTASTIC and tastes like nerds. Too bad it's prohibitively expensive.

Red Bull, also isn't that bad, but that's also uber expensive.

I use pain to keep me awake.

Pepsi is my drink of choice.

Lipton Black tea, and lots of it.

Sometimes Coca Cola is nice.
