Konami's Castlevania: The Adventure is an old favorite.  It was a birthday gift from my parents at age 13, and the first 3rd party Game Boy game I owned.  I have many fond memories of late nights and trips to my grandparents' house, bringing the Game Boy with me, and camping out in the living room to play it while the family talked.  However, time hasn't been kind to the game, with many people decrying it as one of the worst entries in the series.  What are my thoughts on the game now, as we approach 30 years since its release?  Watch my review, and then let's discuss!  What do you think of Castlevania: The Adventure?  And what are your favorite games in the series?

Mmm, homemade ice cream...

Anyway, love the game, although I stink at it.  It never really felt complete to me, like it was not quite right.  I guess I never noticed that it didn't have sub weapons.  Weird, considering it was one of the original GB games I played back (back on my Super Game Boy) and I still like picking it up a couple times a year.

Picking a favorite is kind of hard, mainly because of the whole nostalgia factor you talked about in the video.  Maybe I played too much, I don't know, but some of the games are just too hard for me to play more than an hour or so.  I really like Castlevania II, and SotN is also great, but maybe I'll be a little different and say Aria of Sorrow.  It is a lot like SotN, but the saves are a million times faster.

Also, Circle of the Moon was fun, but it was just so dark.  So, Aria and Castlevania II as my favs, but Circle of the Moon is my favorite Castlevania that I barely saw.

@bombatomba: I like Circle of the Moon, but for some reason, I find its brand of backtracking to be too much, and that's probably just me not finding what I need to progress, but it feels like I'm all over the place in that game, but have never been able to finish it.  Aria of Sorrow is definitely a much better game, and it's among my favorite in the series.  Harmony of Dissonance is also quite good.  I'm kinda boring, however, in that Symphony of the Night is my favorite.  I love the Alucard character, the excellent 2D visuals, the cool level layouts and awesome bosses (except Galamoth, with his lightning rod, he can go die in a fire), and the soundtrack is amazing.  When I first played through it and discovered the upside down castle, it was an amazing experience, and I even printed out an entire game map (comprised of several sheets of paper) to hang on the wall in a large frame.  In any event, it's far and away my favorite Castlevania title.  This game holds a special place in my heart, but objectively speaking, I know it's not on par with the other 2D titles.  I also really like Castlevania Bloodlines, and Castlevania III.  Unfortunately, I haven't had much experience with Super Castlevania IV.  Oh, and Rondo of Blood, by way of Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles on PSP, is another I consider among the best games in the series, and another I had a lot of fun with.
