Those of you old timers know that we have an annual tradition here at RF Generation that coincides with the anniversary of our site's creation. RF Generation is in it's 12th year of existence, and to celebrate, it's time for our annual PAIN YOURSELF WITH SUBMISSIONS contest. As all of you know, member submissions are what keeps this site going and ensures that we have the most up-to-date and best video game database on the Interwobz. To commemorate our anniversary, we hold an annual contest to see who can "contribute" the most to the site  during an allotted period of time (*see the description of contributions and points below).

So, here's how it works. From April 28th until June 8th, you try to make as many submissions as humanly possible. Our dedicated database staff will review the absurd amount of submissions and at the end of it all, one of you gets a super sweet prize package, which includes your choice of $60 worth of gaming goodness. Essentially, you win a shopping spree (not to exceed $60 and items have to be game related) on GameGavel, eBay, or Amazon, and we pick up the tab. Of course, you'll also be the coolest kid in town as you strut around in your new, official RF Generation Ringer T-shirt.

SEE OFFICIAL SUBMISSION TYPES AND RULES BELOW

Well, 2015 is behind us, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't take a moment to look back and thank those who make the site great.  Each month, I typically publish a list of top approvers and submitters who do a great job in improving the growth and accuracy of our database. However, since it's the end of the year, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank our staff for their fantastic and tireless work in 2015.

It's nice to see that all of that Thanksgiving turkey didn't cause our submitters and approvers to fall asleep on the job in November. I'm once again excited to report that we had another fantastic month of submissions at RF Generation. With last month's impressive 6,174 submissions, I thought we might slow down, but I'm happy to announce that our members knocked it out of the park once again with 6,686 submissions! The submissions for November included 6,375 game submissions (4,187 of which were images) and 311 hardware submissions. We had another great effort from our international members and this month there we lots of members who contributed over 50 submissions.  Top contributors for the month of November include:

Strap on your ammo belt, grab your unlimited clips, clean your bazooka, and get ready for some sweet Run n' Gun action with the boys from the RFGen Playcast!  As you know, each December we typically pick a few games to play with members of the community for a high score challenge.  Two years ago, we played through the Streets of Rage series, which our own Disposed Hero came out on top of, and last year, MetalFRO was our Top Shmuper as he dominated many of the shooters we choose.  This December, we have chosen the Run n' Gun genre for our playthrough and will be holding weekly high score competitions for the following games: Contra (NES), Rolling Thunder 2 (Genesis), and Metal Slug 3 (XBox and various compilations).  Official rules and sign-ups here: http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?topic=16039.0

As I write this, I am sitting in from of my computer "zombified" after having stood in front of my office scanner for 2+ hours as it gobbled page after countless page as I watched the multicolored LEDs flicker across the display. I would have gone mad by now if it weren't for the sheer joy that awaits me on the horizon when I punch that clock at the end of the day. That's right friends, by the time you read this, I will have flown to Connecticut, gone to RWX, and will probably still be sleeping after a long night of gaming with some other radical dudes who attended the convention this year. But right now I'm simply tired, beaten down, disheveled, tired, and did I mention I was tired? Speaking of "tireless" efforts, look no further than the submissions for the month of September!

Last last month, we increased our July effort of 5,272 submissions, to 5,867 submissions! That's awesome right, how could we possible top that number.....well, we did.  In September, there were a total of 6,480 submissions!!!  Once again, this is a monsterous feat and we appreciate all of you who contributed to this effort.  The submissions for September included 6,363 game submissions (4,342 of which were images) and 117 hardware submissions. Top contributors for the month of August include:

Our top submitters (those with a minimum of 100) for August were:
FatherJack             5,009   (Really, you just had to tack on 9 more...)

Thanks for another great month guys!!!

Top approvers for the month included:

The end of summer is upon us and the temperature will soon be beginning to cool down. However, this latter part of the summer has been a real heat wave in terms of submissions, in fact, they've been better than ever!  If July was a "scorcher," then August might be deemed "molten lava hot." During last month, we increased our impressive July effort of 5,272 submissions, to 5,867!!! That is an incredible feat and we appreciate all of you who contributed to this effort.  The submissions for August included 5,784 game submissions (4,035 of which were images) and 83 hardware submissions. ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

**Before, we get too far into our game announcement, the RF Generation Playcast has some other exciting news for our loyal listeners. Around the middle of September, we will be moving our hosting services from Podomatic to PodBean. With Podomatic's service, we have always been confined to a specific storage and bandwidth limitation. Once we neared our storage capacity, we had to start deleting old episodes every month, which also removed them from iTunes and Stitcher. For a lower cost, PodBean allows us to house all of our episodes and maintain full download capabilities from their site, as well as our RSS feed affiliates (iTunes & Stitcher). Once we compared our options, the move was kind of no-brainer.  We have already uploaded all of our episodes to PodBean and created a working homepage at http://rfgenplaycast.podbean.com/, so please go ahead and check it out!

If you subscribe to use on Podomatic, iTunes, or Stitcher, please note that our next episode (which will be released at the beginning of September) will be our last episode released on Podomatic. You will need to resubscribe once we change our RSS feed. This will occur toward the middle of September and we will be sure to notify you on the RF Generation forums and homepage. Thanks for listening, and we hope that this move will only enhance your listening experience.**

AND NOW BACK TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED PROGRAM....

With the month of August nearly half over, we continue to struggle through the rugged platforming of Little Nemo: The Dream Master and a few of us are wading through the tumultuous sands of Dubai in Spec Ops: The Line. Get ready to plow through some other great titles this September, and join GrayGhost81 as he moves to the retro side with playthrough veteran, Fleach, to host the Konami PSX classic, Metal Gear Solid (PSX/PSN/PS2/PS3/360/PC). Likewise, retro host singlebanana takes a walk on the wild side with games buster, Disposed Hero, and hosts next month's modern playthrough, Indigo Prophecy (PS2/XBox/Steam).

If you thought July was action-packed, wait until you see what we have in store for you in August. Get ready for another great month of community adventure as the RF Generation Playthrough Group takes you to Slumberland and Dubai, two once peaceful areas that are now stricken with unrest. Join us as Fleach moves over to the retro side and hosts a very unique, action-platformer on the NES, Little Nemo: The Dream Master. This title was voted on by the community and we hope that you will join us in playing this classic.  Disposed Hero hops over to the modern side this upcoming month to host Spec Ops: The Line, a 3rd person shooter with an emphasis on squad tactics and cover. While the game is little talked about, it has an extremely compelling story and won several industry awards, including Best Narrative at Machinima's Inside Gaming Awards.

In June, we dropped considerably from our 6,000+ submissions mark set in May. The biggest reason for this decline was due to our annual Pain Yourself With Submissions contest held primarily during the previous month. At this time, the staff would like to congratulate the one and only (thank goodness) Zagnorch on what was a very impressive contribution during this year's contest. During this time, he submitted 2,364 total images to our database, not to mention several other great additions! Thank you Zagnorch and everyone who participated in this year's contest, the site is better because of all of your efforts. You can check out the overall results here and please note that staff scores have not been adjusted (1/2 credit): http://rfgeneration.com/P...t.php?action=contest;id=8

Though we didn't quite reach the 6,000+ mark, the effort in June was still VERY impressive with a grand total of 2,207 submissions!  Of these submissions, 1,741 were game submissions, and 446 were related to hardware. Of these, 1,382 of them were images.  On behalf of the administrators and staff, "Thank You" to all who contributed to the site in June. Thanks also go out to our hardworking staff of approvers who reviewed each of these submissions and added them to our ever growing database.

This July, join the RF Generation Playthrough Group for some high octane action titles. On retro side, Fokakis79 hosts......hey, wait a minute.....what the???  Yes, some of you may recall that one of the prizes from the December 2014 Donation Drive included choosing and hosting a segment of our playthrough for a month. Fokakis79 has waited patiently for his turn at hosting, and he has chosen the classic Sega beat 'em ups, Golden Axe and Golden Axe II (available on the Genesis, and multiple Genesis collections on various consoles).  This series will be co-hosted by singlebanana. On the modern side, join host GrayGhost81 as he takes on an alien onslaught of Orks and the Forces of Chaos in the wildly epic, 3rd person shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine available on the 360, PS3, Steam, and PC.
