Posted under Modern Gaming, Jerks, Mr. McDouche, NO 360 FOR YOU!, Xbox 360

Christmas is supposed to be a happy time when you are a kid. It doesn't become faceless until you're older, but as a kid, it's quite the magical time, normally. Unfortunately, there is the Grinch. You know the being. Green, evil, that guy. Well, apparently, the grinch struck this Christmas, and it wasn't very nice.

See, the video? The kid's name is Jonathan. He got a box for Christmas. Upon taking off the wrapping, he found that it was a 360 Arcade box. Most people, including Jonathan, would be elated that they were getting a new gaming system to play on, but there seemed to be something wrong with the picture. Upon opening the box Jonathan found that there was in fact no 360 in the box but rather CLOTHES! How evil. Dreadfully evil. Certainly, someone in this story has no heart.

Thankfully, lots of people do, and have contacted the family to get the kid a 360. Kudos to Microsoft for offering to help, but it looks as though Engadget has this debacle covered.

What a mean thing to do to a kid on Christmas. I hope the Grinch in this story grows a heart.

I'm not one to swear for no reason, so with that in mind:

Fuck getting this kid a 360 get him a new fucking family. Fast forward 10 years when the mom is on daytime TV crying about how her son is out of control and she doesn't know why. Let's see what did this kid learn on christmas morning?
1. Don't trust anyone close to you
2. Don't show weakness you'll only get laughed at
3. I know there is a third but Fuck this makes me pissed so I can't think of it.

I find this hilarious yet horrible at the same time. Makes me wonder how much work the parents went through to get that box.

Oh wait, it's the 360 Arcade box. Well, clothes are about as useful as that thing. Wink

But in all seriousness, that's a bitch move that those parents pulled.

It was a joke. They did it because he was peeking the night before.

He eventually got the XBox.

@BadEnoughDude: That's definitely not what the Engadget article update says.

From the "about video" section on YouTube.

"My mom decides to buy my brother an Xbox 360 for christmas. We leave that night and return the next morning to find he has sneaked a look....just as my mom thought he would, this is the result...and yes he did get the game i will try to post the second video"

Wow chill out people. What seems like a terrible terrible atrocity to you may seem like a fun little prank to others. People perceive situations differently. I'm on the fence. I know nothing about the family and how they interact with one another so I have absolutely no clue how 'terrible' of a prank this is. You can't jump to any completely accurate conclusion after seeing just that video.

As far as I'm concerned though, yea the kid is upset, he's young. Later he'll probably realize it was a  cruel prank at his expense and hopefully he'll be able to laugh about it. I highly doubt it will scar the guy for the rest of his life.

I actually lol'd. Sounds like something I'd do with friends/family of mine XD.

@Shimra:

You can tell how terrible it is by the poor kid's reaction. That alone is enough to tell me that he's probably not used to this kind of "pranking". Imagine if you were the kid. Not only did you get tricked into believing you were getting an awesome gift, only to have it snatched from you moments later, the rest of the family is there laughing at you and video taping you while you're just sitting there stunned. What a fun Christmas.

I concede.

I still think though that in the future he will probably have a bit of a laugh over it. Or at least the reason I think that is because I hope that is the case.

It was probably all staged to get people from the internet to buy the family 360s.

At least that's how I would have done it.

I gave my brother a rechargeable battery pack for his game boy inside an oatmeal package...
inside a kiddy pc game box...
inside a SNES box...

of course we'ld shared that console for years.  he was more surprised we still had the box.
