Two years. Two years since RF Generation lost a friend, and its leader. On February 1, 2006, Michael Collins, one of the founders of RF Generation, tragically passed away. He left behind family, friends, and projects, including his baby, RF Generation. Today we pause, pause to remember our departed friend, and share the memories and feelings we since have. Some of us knew Mike for a really long time. His death hit us especially hard. In the two years since Mike died, I think we've all had time to cope with his passing. The pain may be less, but it is still there. Gone are the days of the three amigos. Gone are the trademark statements such as "Shut up Dave." Gone is the person who was a friend to many. At the same time, we take solace in who Mike was while he was alive. Mike was a selfless individual, and many of us were touched by his life. You could almost say that he helped to shape some of our personalities and ideologies. Mike was our friend. I can't imagine what life would have been like if I never knew Mike, but certainly something would have been missing. Last year we unveiled a memorial to Mike. If you never knew Mike, then I highly recommend that you check out the page to see who Mike was and how much he is missed. If you wish to add a memorial than Mike, certainly go ahead and send me it via email or personal message, and we'll add it to the page. We miss you Mike, we really do. You may be gone, but you are never forgotten.

I've never met Mike, but may he rest in peace. Thanks for the amazing site.

Well said Dave. I know I still miss him being around. I wonder how things would be different if he still was. As Mike said, no one will ever be forgotten, and I know myself, you, and everyone else at RFGen has taken that to heart since his passing.
He may not be around anymore, but I have a feeling if he saw the site today, he would be incredibly proud. Or as Mike would say, "You guys get 1000 points."

I never met Mike either, but he sounded like a great guy. There's so much of him in this site that in a way I feel like I have met him. I think he'd be proud of our accomplishments and how big RF Generation has grown in the last two years.

I never met him, but if he were here I'd have to thanks him for making such a great site.
|
I never met him either, I just remember that day two years ago. It was a loss for the whole community. He is still missed.
|
I never met Mike in person but I talked to him almost everyday for a year. I still miss him and am waiting for him to log onto AIM.

It's hard to believe that it's been 2 years. That fact that this site is still going strong is a great legacy.

I think it's amazing how many people have been touched by Mike that never actually met him. It's a testament to him and what he started here. This site is a combination of the friends he grew up with and the friends he made since it's creation. He may no longer be here in body but he sure is in spirit.
I nver met him ether but I think of Mike as a friend. I miss him too.

I dont know em but certainly I wish he was still around if only to see how RFG would be and how else it would have grown.

I have only been here a short time but I find it sad to hear of his passing. Reading through the comments and memorials it seems like he was a much loved young man who is still dearly missed to this day. I too wish that he were here today if only for his friends and to see what a great community he helped to build here.

I never know what to say in these situations so I usually avoid them. But I don't think this is something to ignore. I wasn't an active member at the time. What he left behind was a great idea continued by some great friends.

To bad I didn't no him, it's sad...

... I meant "know"...

Hey guys...I still visit the site periodically and enjoy seeing the progress that has been made. Time has been warped because it doesn't feel like it has been that long, yet I feel very distant from the last time I was with Mike. He was such a beautiful person who I think of each day.
|
Thanks for all of your kind comments about Mike. I still periodically check on the site to see how Mike's "baby" (my "grandbaby," I guess) is doing. I'm sure he's glad to see it's in such good hands.

I'm in the same boat as James I'm afraid having joined just a month after James. I never actively used the forums back then, just to submit game additions to my growing Saturn collection at the time.
I have always felt like I really missed out on something special because of this and truly regret not being the forum junkie I am now at that time. My thoughts will always be with those close to Mike.

I met Mike numerous times but I don't think I ever actually talked with him for more than like one word at a time. Really sad, I wish I would have gotten to know him.

This is where my thoughts go and are never heard from again.
Well, maybe not, but this is the repository for all of my published thoughts and rantings. It'll make my day if you find at least 10% of it amusing and enjoyable to read.
Sorry for the other 90%.
