Gamestop, we all love them and their whole LET'S SELL OPENED GAMES AS NEW thing they like to do. Taking a stance against that policy, a clever eBayer by the name of newyorkrarebooks has put a "Gamestop NEW" copy of Valkyria Chronicles up for sale at $4,995. What's so special about this copy? I'll let the seller exlplain: This is extremely rare to find in this state considering most other "new" / "sealed" games don't have the scratches on the disc nor the fingerprint smudges nor the somehow missing instruction manual that this version has. Kinda funny, isn't it? Well, at least I found it funny. Also, here's a fun anecdote about Gamestop and Valkyria Chronicles. As you may know, VC was one of the games Gamestop had as part of the recent Gamer Days thing they had. They were selling it new for 30. Initially I was like "BAWWWW IT'S GAMESTOP NEW SCREW THIS". But then I looked over at the used games and saw they had Valkyria Chronicles used for 30 and immediately stopped my whining. I even thanked the friendly Gamestop associate for saving me the hassle of having to open up the game myself. Originally spotted on Sega's official blog.

I think I've been in one Gamestop in the past 3 or 4 months. And, that was just this weekend....I was looking for a used PS3 copy of Rock Band 2, but couldn't find one.
Very funny and whitty. I never buy newsed games from them.
Gamestop kicks ass. I hate this old argument about if they are new or not.
I'm really used to places opening games and putting the stuff behind the counter. I always cringe when I see them sliding the disc out of the holder they have slipped it into. So to be honest places like GAME are refreshing to me when they sell me a sealed copy. EB Games, Target, K Mart, Game Traders.... well I think anywhere I go except GAME do what I mention earlier. I do not blame these stores however, I blame the damn shop lifters who caused this to become the norm.
@Cobra:Most shops here have the games sealed, and then inside a plastic case thing, so you can't hide it under your shirt or something.
I won't shop at Gamestop either, because of their "New" game policy, and they fact that they put stickers on used games. That wouldn't be so bad but they take the art out of the DVD case and put a sicker on that too! Unacceptable.
@Rajaat the Warbringer: They've stopped putting stickers on the inserts, at least at my gamestop. When they used to, the stickers were at least very easy to peel off and never caused any damage to the game itself.
@Tondog: It depends on the store. Ussually they do it to make scanning bookshelf organized games easier.
As for this - Never got the big deal, but people whine about everything, so I'm not suprised.

Part of it is an inventory thing Its not nearly as much of a problem to loose a trade in game compared to a new game.
I can think of a few times it happened where i was working.
I really dont have much of a problem with gamestop, but then again I almost always buy my games used and at least 4-6 months after they come out (in the 360's case), but like ive said before I dont have many options here in orlando.
