See that game? That's Final Fantasy XI, a game that I have very fond memories of playing. It's an MMORPG, and the first MMO in the Final Fantasy Series. I played this game for 2 or so years before I quit due to developing an addiction to it. Still, before I quit, I had many friends in the game, and we had some good times playing it. At first, I sucked at the game, and considered quitting, but I kept pushing on, thanks to help from those friends, and I got better. As mentioned earlier, I developed an unhealthy addiction to this game, and that's what forced me to quit. This upset me, because I had many friends in the game, but for the sake of my health, I had to quit, so I did. Still, the memories I have of this game are good ones, and I doubt I'll ever forget about it. To this day, I have not enjoyed an MMO as much as I enjoyed this one. With that, I announce today that alongside Chrono Cross, another game has received a perfect 10 from me, that game being this one. If you know you can't get addicted to MMOs, then go play this game. I highly recommend it, as it really is a flawless game. Here's hoping people continue to play it, and make good friends along the way for many years to come.

Popful Mail is a Sega CD Game released back in 1995. It was published by Working Designs, the same people behind Lunar Silver Star and Lunar Eternal Blue. Despite being one of the earlier games with Voice Acting, the dubbing is actually pretty good.
So what kind of game is this? It's a Platformer with RPG Elements. You know, move left and right, attack enemies, buy better equipment, and so on. You get 3 Characters to play as. The Main Character is Mail, a spunky Elf-Girl who wants to capture the villainous Magician Muttonhead and claim the bounty on his head. The other two characters, her companions, are Tatt, Muttonhead's kind-hearted apprentice, and Gaw, a little Dragon-like creature whose only aim is to please Mail.
The game is very funny, and has several pop culture references, which make it even funnier most of the time. Mail's short fuse and temper also add to the humor, with her going as far as calling someone retarded at one point:
For the record though, said character is pretty stupid, causing trouble most of the time.
The game's animated Cut-Scenes are also nice and easy on the eyes:

Overall, this game is very fun, but also difficult most of the time. Would I recommend it to anyone? Hell yes I would. Go play this game, even if you have to use an Emulator to do it.
Have you ever wanted to use your Game Boy Game Genie on your Super Game Boy, but found that you couldn't because it wouldn't fit? Well, today, I'm going to teach you how to mend that with this extremely simple Mod. It's so simple, that even I can do it, and I know this, because I did do it.
1. Take note of the circled points in this picture. Use a pair of Pliers, preferably Needle Nose Pliers, to tear those parts off of the Game Genie.

2. Once they're off, your done! It should look like this:

3. The Game Genie will now fit into your Super Game Boy and work perfectly!

Simple, right? I hope someone out there can make use of this tutorial.
Hey all, this is my newest series! Here's the first episode! I hope you enjoy it!
You read that right, but may not be thinking about it correctly. As much as I would love to go to Japan one day, I don't know Japanese, nor will I probably ever have the funds to do it. That being said, I must resort to Video Games that let me explore Japan. The problem? I don't know too many.
Noting that, could some of you recommend games that let you explore Japan? I know Shenmue, Yakuza, and Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 (that one only sort of lets you) let you do it, but I need more than those. So...anyone?
P.S. If I can customize the Character in the game/Make my own Character, even better!
On another note, here's an excellent song from Wangan Midnight!
Hello everyone. Today, I present a short, simple video. All it shows is my first victory in Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3. Still, I think Shadow Kisuragi would be proud, considering he's partly responsible for getting me into this style of racing. Anyway, enjoy.

See that bad boy? That's the Arcade Game, Initial D. I first discovered this thing in 2007 or so, in an Arcade at a Mall in Richmond, VA. I noticed it used ID Cards (of sorts) to save data, and took an immediate interest in it. I sat down and played this thing...
For 2 Hours, if I recall correctly! While I did suck at it, it was still fun, and I would love to play it again. Sadly, I don't think any Arcades around here have it, and buying the thing is impossible for me. Even if I did have the funds, I doubt any company would ship it. Also, no Emulator that I'm aware of will play this game. I could be wrong though. If I am, please correct me.
Anyway, I'm left with buying the Console Version of it on PS3, which leads me to my question: What's a good PS3 Steering Wheel with Pedals? If anyone can suggest one, I'd appreciate it.
But wait! There's more to this post!
Wangan Midnight is another Illegal Japanese Street Racing game for the PS3. Shadow Kisuragi pointed me towards it. If anyone has played this game, could you please tell me about your experience playing it? I'd like to know more before I just go and import it.
Thanks for reading!
Okay. Seeing how many of our users ignore The Arena forum (At least, that's what I think), I figured I'd do a little advertising here. Over in said part of the Forum is a Thread regarding MAMEHub, and how to set it up. MAMEHub is a program that lets you play MAME with others Online, and it's really fun. If your looking to play some Arcade Games with others, go check the thread out. Here, I'll even link to it right here:
http://www.rfgeneration.c...um/index.php?topic=8900.0
Go try it. You might have fun!

Get it? "Da Return"? Hyuck, Hyuck.
But seriously, bad puns aside, the site is finally back Online, and I could not be happier. I would like to thank all of our wonderful Staff Members for working so hard to bring it back, and putting up with me in the Chat Room while they were doing it.
Expect a very special PGGS Entry from me later today or tomorrow. It'll be longer, and have a special mini-feature along with it.
NOTE: This entry WILL contain spoilers!! Read at your own risk!! Also, this is a matter of opinion on my part.
Is there any game out there you have fond memories of playing, for any reason at all? Very few games, especially now, can be called Perfect, but before the 7th Generation of gaming, there were 3 that stood out from the rest, and earned the title of Perfection. Here they are:

This is Shenmue, and according to a lot of people, it's a timeless classic. People LOVE this game, usually for it's compelling story. A tale of revenge, this game series has yet to be completed by Sega, but to this day, myself and many fans remain hopeful that Shenmue III will be released someday.
What's Perfect About It: It's Story is what makes it stand out from the rest. This game's Story is what has made it so fun and flawless to this day.

This is Phantasy Star Online: Episode I&II for Gamecube. It is, without a doubt, the greatest MMORPG ever conceived, and I have logged countless hours into it. I have good and bad memories of it, and the overall experience is a very fond memory of mine, making this now hard-to-find game more than qualified to be called Perfect.
What's Perfect About It: This game will draw you in with it's addictive gameplay and multiplayer aspect, AND it can be played Offline with split-screen multiplayer, making it one hell of a party game for the hardcore gamer.

This, my friends, is Chrono Cross, and it is the epitome of perfection in gaming. Chrono Cross is a dimension-traversing RPG Adventure without flaw, and this is due to EVERYTHING in it. It's characters, story, setting, and gameplay all come together to create the perfect gaming experience in the form of two CDs. In my truest, most honest opinion, NOTHING can compete with Chrono Cross in the world of gaming. Everyone knows this to be my favorite game of all time, and I have yet to find a game to surpass it, and I probably never will.
What's Perfect About It: EVERYTHING. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this game. It surpasses even the mightiest of games, including Final Fantasy VII and Grandia. Ahead of it's time as it was though, it never caught the attention of most RPG Gamers, which is very sad. Fortunately, this game is on the PS3 as a PSOne Classic now though, and can be enjoyed by everyone for the low price of 10 Dollars. Go buy this game. You'll get more than your money's worth, and you will NOT regret it. I think that everyone should be able to find something about this game that they'll enjoy. I love RPGs, but this game cuts down every other RPG in the world, no matter how tall they stand.
Anyway, that's it for this entry. This is ReddMcKnight, signing off.
FMV Games...Video Games that use Full Motion Video for they're graphics. They died out in the late 90's, and haven't been seen since, as far as I know. For many, they're stupid and have no real value. For others, such as myself, they're fun and unique. Today, I'm here to present to you a look back at the most famous (and infamous) ones. Let's start.

That game there is Night Trap, a game with some controversial history behind it. There's a LOT behind it's story, but the short version is that a politician called it bad in the sense that it was too violent, and everyone believed him. Over time, the hype died down, and to some, it's now a cult classic. Originally released for the Sega CD, the goal is to trap Vampires called "Augers" using various trap doors in a house to protect several young women in the house having a sleepover. Simple, but it can raise your tension sometimes, because most of the time, one wrong move means Game Over. It was also released for the 3DO and the 32X-CD.
What's Special About It: The Main Character is portrayed by Dano Plato of Diff'rent Strokes fame. Also, as mentioned before, it caused a lot of controversy, but most of it only happened because someone was full of hot air.

What we have here is Wing Commander III, a game I like to call a Sleeper Hit. It's a Small-Spaceship Simulator, and your goal is to fend off the Kilrathi (Humanoid Lions). Besides the Spaceship Combat, it also plays like a typical FMV Adventure Game. You can talk to the Characters to initiate live action conversations with them, which look awesome. Wing Commander III is, without a doubt, my favorite FMV Game. Originally released for DOS, it has been ported to the 3DO and PS1.
What's Special About It: Mark Hamill, most famous for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars IV, V, and VI, plays the Main Character in this one, and in the fourth one, and he does an excellent job at it.

Mad Dog McCree is an Old West shooting game. The goal is to track down the outlaw Mad Dog McCree and save the Mayor's daughter. To do this, you have to shoot a bunch of other criminals while searching for Mad Dog. It's not too hard, but not too easy either, and the whole concept is really simple. It was originally released as an Arcade Machine, and has been ported to many other Consoles.
What's Special About It: It was actually pretty successful for an FMV Game, considering most people hate them.
Well, that's it for this short entry. It would've been longer, but I'm pretty bored right now, and I'm not really working at my fullest right now. Heh. Anyway, my next entry will be better.
You've heard me go on about them before. Well, now it's time for another episode of "Critic Bashing 101".
Critics...people who take opinions and make them into fact. Real jerks. If they said Ocarina of Time sucked, people would listen to them and it wouldn't be a million seller title. Anyway, this time it involves video game movies.
Have you ever heard of a movie called Postal? It's based on the Video Game of the same name. It was directed by Uwe Boll, and because of that fact alone, people hated it. This is crap. People shouldn't hate a movie just because a certain person directed it. The movie is definitely not realistic by any means, but Uwe Boll did not do a bad job in directing it. It's funny, and I was really entertained by it. It's probably just me, but I cannot understand why people hate that man and his movies. House of the Dead was good too. Yeah. I went there.
As for Video Games...I don't complain about bad graphics or praise games with good graphics, because I don't really care about graphics. I play games for the Story and Gameplay. This brings me to my point...Who the hell is Gamespot to say that Saint's Row The Third is "Visually Unimpressive"? That is just stupid! Why are you gonna complain about graphics when you have a fun game in front of you?!
Anyway, I think I've made my point. Agree with me or Disagree with me, I don't care. However, if you Disagree with me, at least keep your counter-argument civil and calm. Thank you, and good night.
Whew! It's been a while since I've updated this thing, huh? Why? Because I've been busy playing three different games! Here's the details:

This game takes a simple idea, and somehow makes it complex and fun: Searching and Building. In Minecraft, you can basically do whatever you want, from building your own structures, to hunting Zombies. The basic Idea though is to mine for Gold and other valuable materials, and use the materials to build better mining equipment. While it may sound boring, it's really not, and this is one game you should definitely try. You might not get it at first, but that's okay. Use the Minecraft Wikia and you'll be enjoying the game before you know it. I know I've said that I hate Indie Games on more than one occasion, but in this game's case, I was willing to make an exception.

The latest entry in the Elder Scrolls Series is Skyrim. Like all the Elder Scrolls Games before it, it's buggy as hell, with at least two potential game-stopping bugs in it. However, after bitching about it in the IRC here (Special Thanks to bickman2k, James, and theGrue for putting up with me in there), I scavenged some Message Boards for a solution to these game-stopping bugs, and found them. With the fixes applied, I played the game again, and now I enjoy it so much. This game is close to perfect, a 9.7/10 kind of thing. Like Minecraft, you can do whatever you want, but you might wanna watch what you do, as there will be consequences.

And finally, Grand Theft Auto IV The Complete Edition. Not much to say about this one, since you all probably know about it, other than it's a fun game, but I like GTA: San Andreas better.
Anyway, that's it for now. Look for my next entry soon.

While browsing my local Target Store the other day, I happened across this game. There was a whole section in the Store dedicated to this particular game. I quickly learned that you use little figurines to play the game, much like how you use cards to play The Eye of Judgement, also on PS3. Anyway, despite being targeted towards a younger audience, I won't lie and say I wasn't intrigued by this concept, because I was. Anyway, at the time, I didn't have the cash to buy it (70 US Dollars), so I just said "Meh.", and decided to wait. Well, fast forward to tonight, I got paid, and decided to head over to the Store right after work and pick it up.
I got home, unpacked it, started it up, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this game. It was actually fun, and I enjoyed it. I also love the concept. You place the figurines on the base that comes with the game, and they are put into the game and you use the one placed on the base as your Character. You can switch them at will to overcome different obstacles in the game. Perhaps the coolest thing in this game is that it features a certain famous Dragon from the PlayStation 1 days.

That "famous Dragon" pictured above is Spyro. Although if you grew up in the 90's, you probably already knew that. He's one of the figurines you can use in the game, and his attacks remind me of the 90's in such a way that's just awesome. Although his appearance has changed some over the years, he still kicks ass.
Anyway, getting back to the game, Spyro is joined by many other Skylanders, including the two in the top picture. There are over 30 of them to collect, with more probably coming soon. As for how the game plays, it's kind of difficult for me to explain. Picture a top-down view similar to Sacred 2 or Diablo 2. You run around collecting items, fighting enemies, and generally just exploring the Skylands, which is the world this game takes place in. Each Skylander has two different attacks (as far as I know) for taking down enemies, a weak, rapid fire attack, and a stronger, single fire attack. I'd place this game in the genre of Action RPG.
Another cool feature of this game is that, when you equip hats (yes, hats) on your Skylander, the Data is stored on the figurine, so that if you play on a friend's console, your character will still be equipped with that hat.
Anyway, as I mentioned earlier, this game is geared towards a younger audience, but I still had fun with it, and it looks to be a pretty long game, so it should keep me busy for a while.
Alright, that's it for now. This is ReddMcKnight, signing off!

This is Pac-Land, a Platformer for the TurboGrafx-16 that I acquired recently. It's exactly what you'd expect from a Pacman Game: Good, simple fun.
The object of this game, as should be expected from a Platformer, is to reach the right side of a Level, starting from the left side, while evading hazards that will make you lose lives. The twist is that you can use the classic Pacman Power Pellets to (obviously) eat the Ghosts that would try and stop you from making it to your goal. At the bottom of the screen is a score multiplier that will deplete as you traverse the level. The higher the multiplier when you finish, the better your score.
Every 3 rounds, you'll have to guide Pacman back home using a special pair of boots that allow him to perform multiple jumps in a row. Every 2 trips (8 rounds) you make, you'll get a different cutscene. I made 4 trips before it got too hard for me.
Is this game repetitive? Yes, but I still think it's pretty fun. I don't think Pac-Land is very rare, so if you have a TG-16 and some extra cash, go pick this game up. If you enjoy challenging platformers, you'll like it.
Also, could anyone suggest any other good platformers for the TG-16?
