Alright, so as many of you know, I go around saying how much I hate Indie Games. Well, guess what?
I was wrong.
Now, breathe for a minute...Alright then.
As odd as it may sound coming from me, I've been sampling a lot of Indie Games lately, and I gotta say, there's some good stuff here. Terraria, Castle Miner Z, etc. I mostly play them on my 360. They're cheaper than regular games, and many of them have great concepts, and they execute those concepts well. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't give them a chance earlier. Granted, Terraria and Castle Miner Z are just like Minecraft in some ways, but in other ways, they're unique. Terraria, for example, is a 2D-Game, a Side-Scroller to be specific. Castle Miner Z has Guns and more fearsome creatures. There's also plenty more to check out. All of the ones I've played so far were worth the MS Points I spent on them.
So what the hell are you waiting for?! The Bat Sign?! Go download some Indie Games today! RFGeneration's local Power Glover commands you!

Revolution X...This was the very first "Light-Gun" game I ever played. From the moment I picked up my Genesis Controller, I knew there was something different about this game. I couldn't get enough of it. Despite the fact that it features Aerosmith, whom I am not a big fan of, it's an excellent game with a unique idea: Your secondary ammo is CDs that explode upon impact.
I recently downloaded the Arcade Version for MAME, and I gotta say, it's even better than I remember it. That's probably because I was playing it on more powerful hardware though. Even the Aerosmith Music managed to impress me, and that's saying something. Perhaps unique to this game is the fact that the gun acts like an Analog Stick, as opposed to an actual Light-Gun Game.
Here's a sample of the music from the Genesis Version:
What makes this game so fun is probably the fact that it's plot is just plain ridiculous. Basically, a New Order type of group has taken over the world and kidnapped Aerosmith. They forbid the use of anything fun, including Music, and that's just not cool, so it's your job to shoot a bunch of them to save the world and Aerosmith in the process.
If the game were released today, it would probably be rated M, for Language, Blood, and Partial Nudity. The reason for the M though is that there's lots of Blood, not just a little. Not a Game I'd play around your kids.
All in all, this is a truly excellent game, but as with most games that I personally enjoy, people hated this one. If your looking for something different though, give it a try, if only for a few minutes. You may find yourself enjoying it.

Today, I'm here to review a great PSP Game called Rockman DASH 2 (Full Title: Rockman DASH Episode 2: The Great Inheritance). Originally released on the PlayStation 1, the PS1 Version has become incredibly rare, commanding a premium price. Today, however, you can buy the PSP Version for around 45 US Dollars on Playasia, a Website that sells Japanese Games. Enough about that though, onto the review!
Gameplay: Action RPG (A-)
Rockman Dash 2 is an Action RPG...kind of. It's actually more Action with RPG Elements. Anyway, you run around in 3D Environments shooting enemies with your Buster Gun (Arm Cannon) and searching for Treasure. While doing this, you'll get "Parts" to upgrade your Buster Gun and Body Parts, making you stronger. Alongside these parts are Items to increase and restore your HP Gauge. You'll also find Zenny (Money) to upgrade the Special Weapons that you get on your Adventure. The are plenty of Side-Quests too, so you can become overpowered if you feel like it. For example, one Side-Quest has you tracking down parts for an Ultra-Powerful Weapon called the Shining Laser, which will decimate any enemy, even bosses, in seconds!
Story: Original For It's Time (B+)
The Story picks up where Rockman DASH 1 left off (or a little bit after it, really...). It begins when your Adoptive Father, Barrel Caskett, gets lost while trying to land on an island called "Forbidden Island". After you rescue him, you learn of 4 Keys that unlock a legendary treasure called The Mother Lode, which is what you are after. From there, your quest begins: Get the 4 Keys and find The Mother Lode. The story has one hell of a Plot Twist, so get ready for a good tale!
Graphics: Old-School 3D (A+)
As mentioned before, this was originally a PS1 Game, so that's what the graphics look like; that of a PS1 Game...sort of. They've been upscaled a little bit, so that it looks a LITTLE like a PSP Game. Anyway, Graphics aren't that important to me.
Content: A LOT!! (S)
This game is absolutely packed with stuff to do! It's practically Non-Linear! One cool feature is that it includes all the Content from a Demo Disc of it back in the PS1 Days. Said Demo Disc featured a Scenario that's not present in the final product, so it's a nice feature.
Final Score: A+
This game is absolutely awesome, and if you buy it, it's worth every penny! If you played the English Version of it on the PS1, Mega Man Legends 2, you'll know exactly what to do, regardless of it being in Japanese. And no, this game, sadly, did not get a US Release.
Special Thanks to:
- bickman2k for helping me track the game down!
- Playasia for just being awesome. (Yes, I have bought products from them before.)
Ah, the People of Gaming. Where would we be without them? Probably not as far as we are now. Today, I present to you a list of the most influential people in gaming (at least, in my opinion). Here they are:
Nolan Bushnell: The Father of Gaming

This legendary figure is known as Nolan Bushnell. He founded Atari, Inc. in 1972 after creating Pong, which is popularly known as the First Video Game Ever. Even though he was fired by his own company some time later, he accomplished much in his time there, effectively making him the very Father of Gaming. A fun fact, he also founded Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza.
Shigeru Miyamoto: The Savior of Gaming

Shigeru Miyamoto is a name that every gamer, old and new, should know. Taught the art of the game by Gunpei Yokoi, he created Donkey Kong and Super Mario. Bros., both of which helped revitalize the Gaming Industry when it was on the brink of death. Like Nolan Bushnell, he is now a legend in the Gaming Industry. He is Nintendo's most respected game developer, having proved himself many times to them.
Hideo Kojima: The Storyteller of Gaming

Hideo Kojima is the writer of many deep, amazing, and just plain awesome Video Game Stories. These include Policenauts, Snatcher, and Metal Gear Solid. Without question, there is no one in the industry that can tell a better story. Metal Gear Solid 3 (and 4) will bring tears to your eyes, a smile to your face, and find a place in your heart as truly great stories.
Trip Hawkins: The Dreamer of Gaming

Trip Hawkins is the founder of EA and the creator of the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer Console. Although he had good ideas, and created an innovative console, his high asking price for the thing led to it's ultimate downfall. Even so, he could be described as the man who truly did CD Based Video Games right for the first time. Founding a big company like EA isn't bad either.
Billy Mitchell: The Greatest in Gaming

Okay, so Billy Mitchell isn't a developer, but he is a damn good gamer. Achieving the highest of scores in multiple games is one thing, but being the first gamer to achieve a perfect score in Pac-Man is truly amazing, considering the last level is one big glitch. Although there's little to be said here, he deserves some serious credit.
Well, that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this!
As some of you may (or may not) be aware, I recently acquired a 5200. Now that I have one, I've come to a decision: I'm going to build a complete 5200 Library. Easy, right? Don't count on it! While there's less than 100 Games (69 to be exact), and while most of them are cheap and really common, there are a few rare ones which command premium prices. Needless to say, when the time comes to get those games, I may have to resort to reproductions. Why? Well, money is tight these days, and as long as a physical cartridge is in my hand, I consider it a part of my collection, even though many wouldn't. Besides, it's obvious that the majority of my collection would be the real thing. Also, the way I see it, if I could get 100 NES Games, then I can certainly get 69 Atari 5200 Games.
Games Owned: 7 out of 69

Today, I present to you Keith Courage In Alpha Zones for the TurboGrafx-16. This game, hated by many, is a Platformer that looks like it's straight out of a Saturday Morning Cartoon. I can't really figure out why people hate it though. It's a decent game with a good challenge. Enough about that though. Here's some more info on this game.
It's called Mashin Eiyuden Wataru in Japan, and it's adapted from an Anime Series called Spirit Hero Wataru. It was released in 1988 in Japan, and in 1989 in the US. Basically, it's about a Kid (A Young Adult in the US Version) who is a member of a group called NICE, and he's trying to save his World from a group called BAD. (Hey, I didn't write this stuff. )
As I mentioned earlier, this is a Platformer. You know, go left and right, kill enemies with whatever means given to you (In this case, a Sword and a Mecha), collect stuff, and so on. Keith is aided on his Adventure by his four friends, who have been renamed in the US Version. As copied from Wikipedia:
Himiko Shinobibe / Nurse Nancy - Nancy heals Keith for a price. Shibaraku Tsurugibe / Weapons Master - Weapons Master sells weapons to Keith. The Prophet - The Prophet warns Keith of danger. Wise Wizard - Wise Wizard sells bolt bombs to Keith.
Supposedly, here in the US, a Comic was distributed with the game, but I couldn't find much information on it, other than one line of text about it on Wikipedia.
All things considered, this really is a good game. Maybe people didn't like it because it's too generic or something, which even I'll admit that it kind of is. Still, if you like Platformers, you should try it.
Excuse the weird title. I was trying to pull a Crabmaster2000 and make a unique title out of what I've played. Heh. Anyway...

That game is Robot Block, better known as Stack-Up in the US. I recently acquired this ultra-rare title, and all I gotta say is this: "I don't get it". I've gotta say, I've played some...well, "different" games in my time, but this one takes the Trophy for Different. Even with a FAQ, I couldn't figure it out. None the less, what I have here is certainly unique. It even has some Voice Clips! So, yeah. Not much to say about this one.

As you can see, that's Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention for the PS Vita. This Strategy RPG is about a Demon Kid who is mad at his Dad for crushing his "Slaystation Portable" by accident. (Do I REALLY need to tell you where the name Slaystation comes from? I didn't think so.)
Anyway, the Demon Kid in question, Mao, is trying to kill his Dad for the injustice. Mao, (Voiced by the extremely talented Vic Mignogna, of DBZ "Broly" and DNAngel "Dark Mousy" fame) is a really immature and bratty kid with an EQ (Evil Quotient) of 1.8 Million. He attends a Demon School where things like skipping class are considered good, so he's an Honor Student.
The point is, this is one funny game, and if you like Strategy RPGs, you should seriously try this game. Don't have a Vita? There's a Version with less content for the PS3!

That is the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft. Basically, it's a stripped down version of Minecraft for the PC, with updates from the PC Version coming to it slowly. Your probably thinking "Why should I play it then?". Well, there's no cheats or mods for one thing, so actually playing the game (It's better with a friend on the couch beside you. Yes, it has split screen Co-Op.) is rewarding. Plus, if your the kind of person who likes Achievements, this game is an easy way to get them.
Well, that's what I've been playing lately. Check back later for a new entry. Also, don't expect a new PGGS for a while. My sensors broke. Sorry about that.
Today, I am proud to announce, that with my acquisition of the NES Game, The Magic of Scheherazade, I have finally completed my goal...100 NES Games are finally mine!!
Current Games: *100* Remaining: 0
It's been a long, somewhat rough, road to 100, but in the end, I have prevailed. Across many trades and many purchases, I have reached my goal. Along the way, I've met many friends who have helped me reach my goal in one way or another. I would like to take this time to thank them:
slackur - He could be described as my first friend here on RF Generation. I received several NES Games from him as a Christmas Gift one year.
bickman2k - He could be described as incredibly patient. He put up with me so much in the Chat Room, not complaining once about any of my rants.
singlebanana - He could be described as a very generous (and patient) trader. He sold me an Atari 2600, which reignited my passion for gaming during a Gaming Fatigue burnout.
NES_Rules - He could be described as quiet. He traded me an Atari 7800, which led me to study Gaming History more.
Zagnorch - He could be described as funny. While I've never done any deals with him, I did get him to admit that the Power Glove wasn't that bad. (This was in one of his Blog Posts)
Duke.Togo - He could be described as a Collector. When I had some concerns about giving up my Famicom, they disappeared when Duke.Togo contacted me for it. I know it's in good hands with him.
For the people I can't think of descriptions for:
Tynstar Shadow Kisuragi Crabmaster2000 nupoile Marriott_Guy noiseredux
Well, that's it. Thanks for the support everyone. You don't know how much I appreciate it. May my number of NES Games soar higher one day, and hopefully, the rest of this year turns out good here at RF Generation. Well then, as we all say here...
KEEP IT ON CHANNEL 3!!
Welcome back. As of today, I have decided that Famicom Games WILL count in my quest to get to 100 Games. Why? Well, they were here before NES Games, and since many of them were released in the US anyway, I've decided that they count now.
Current Games: 89 Remaining: 11
Oh, and by the way, if you want to see what games I have, check my collection. Please do not keep asking me here, and yes, I do update it now.
With another 5 Games added to my Collection, I move slowly, but ever closer to my ultimate goal. Victory awaits me at the end of this long road, and man, will it be sweet!
Current Number: 81 Games To Go: 19
...What? That's it. Go home already! I was just updating you all on my quest!
Hey all. I was able to pick up 5 Games at the local Retro Game Store yesterday, kicking up my Number of NES Games to 76. I'm so close to victory, I can almost taste it!
...and that victory, for whatever reason, tastes like a Well-Done Burger from an old restaurant that I wish was still open around here.
Also, I will be doing Punchout for my next PGGS. You all can thank bickman2k and wildbil52 for that.
See you next entry.
Hey all. Some of you may recall a post of mine from a while back, stating that I wanted to get 100 NES Games, mostly as a personal goal. Well, I'm almost there! I currently have 71, and I'm going NES Game Hunting tomorrow, which should really boost that number upwards.
In other news, I'm gonna do a new entry in my PGGS soon. Please suggest a game for me out of these 3:
Back To The Future The Adventures of Bayou Billy Punchout
That's all for now. Later.

Remember my Initial Impression of Postal III from a while back? Yeah, I didn't think so. It was lost when RF Generation went down. Anyway, to get you up to speed, it was a terrible first impression that this game made. Fortunately, thanks to Patches and Bug Fixes, it's improved a lot, but it's still not perfect. Here's why:
Gameplay: 3rd Person Shooter
This game runs on Valve's Source Engine, which is unusual, as this is a 3rd Person Shooter, as opposed to an FPS. Anyway, unlike the previous, non-linear game, this one is more linear, with a Good VS. Evil thing going on in most of the missions. You can choose to be evil, or be good, but this is Postal III, so why would you want to be good?
Unfortunately, the game suffers a lot of lag when there's a lot going on, and while said lag is bad, it's not bad enough to stop you from playing, although it does hamper the experience. Still, it's not as bad as it used to be, with it originally lagging so bad, that it would crash the game.
Sounds and Music:
The sounds are decent and sound great, but with all the chaos going on during the missions, I didn't really pay attention to the music. Sorry.
Graphics:
Unfortunately, this game requires a more powerful machine than I have, so I had to tone down the Graphics a lot to make it playable, so it's not the best looking thing out there. While I personally don't care a lot about Graphics, a lot of people do, so I'm giving you a fair warning: If you really wanna play this, get a super computer.
The End Result: C Plus
This game needs some work, but it really has come far from when it was first launched, and is at least playable now, but it's not really worth 30 Bucks yet, so I'd wait for a price drop if you plan to buy it. Also, you NEED to be patient. The load times are awful, and longer than those of the Neo-Geo CD. All in all though, this is a funny game, and you should really give it a chance.
Fun Fact: You can meet Uwe Boll in this game.
EDIT: As of today, June 8th, 2012, I learned of a way to increase performance which gets rid of most of the lagging. If you want to know how to do this, send me a PM.

Hey, you! Yeah, you! I'm talking to you, Yankii! Are you a Badass?! I'm a Badass, and I'm gonna teach you how to be the Top Bancho in all of Japan!
......I might be milking this thing a little. Heh.
But seriously, everyone. This is Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble for the PSP, which I've been playing on my newly-acquired PS Vita. (Don't ask. I just thought it would be cooler.)
Anyway, this beat'em up was obviously inspired by River City Ransom, as they share some similarities. The game gives you the "Main Goal" of beating up 46 Banchos from all across Japan, who ALL just happen to be in the fictional prefecture of Kyouto. (Not to be confused with the real prefecture of Kyoto.)
However, there's a lot more to do than just kick ass. You can customize your Character with all kinds of different gear, hairstyles, and so on. You can also try and find Romance if you don't feel like fighting. Still, no matter what you end up doing, your gonna end up fighting SOMEONE. That is, unless you spend the whole week in your Hotel Room. (The only real point being to earn a Title.)
Overall, this is one excellent game, and if your pining for a game like River City Ransom, then this is for you. Give it a try!
