Hey all, I'm back, and this time I have a big entry for everyone. We'll start with my Glove of Power... Yes, I'm still using this thing. Not as much as I could, mind you, but I AM using it, and I still love it, despite the pain it puts in my arm from time to time. As I mentioned in an earlier entry, it's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but I absolutely love it, and it was worth every penny. Now, if only I could master Punch-Out and Super Mario Bros. with it. Next, Mass Effect 2 for the PS3 is a Mass Defect. I'm so sick of waiting for the Patch that I'm just going to get the PC Version. Seriously, how long has it been now? Three weeks? Come on, people! How long does it take to get a freaking patch out to the people?! Killzone 3's Open Beta got it's patch after day one! Bah! Anyway, I could rant forever about this, but I won't. Now, onto the subject of Video Game Movies...Do they really suck, or are big time critics just morons? I'm going to go with the latter. I've always hated it when people judge books by they're covers. Really pisses me off to no end. Take the Super Mario Bros. Movie for example. It's not bad. People just listened to the critics instead of actually going to see it, and it got a bad reputation because of that. Now, when you think of Video Game Movies, you probably think of the name "Uwe Boll". I've never seen any of the movies he's directed, but I SERIOUSLY doubt they're as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Honestly, why can't these damn critics just let people be creative? There's nothing wrong with that! Ahem...On a side note, I just bought several PC RPGs from Amazon.com. They are: Neverwinter Nights 2 Platinum, Baldur's Gate Collection, and Icewind Dale Collection. That's gotta be at least 200+ Hours of gaming right there! Anyway, that's it for now. Also, has anyone seen the 1994 live action film adaption of Double Dragon? Without spoiling it, can anyone who has seen it shout out in the comments if it's any good? Thanks!

I think it's pretty cool you're sticking with the Power Glove. Still love Super Glove Ball.
And however you can, definitely play through Mass Effect 2. Worth all the hype IMHO.
As for video game IP movies, well...
I don't tend to let critics ward me off movies I'm interested in; I thought the new Tron Legacy was excellent. But the movies for Super Mario Bros., Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead, BloodRayne, and Double Dragon were just not worthwhile to me. I felt the best video game IP-to-movie thus far has been Silent Hill, and the first Resident Evil movie was better than expected.
Although they're more fan service than self-contained movies, the Halo Legends compilation had some great shorts (and a few sub-par ones) and while I'm not the big FF7 fanboy, I did enjoy Advent Children..
I don't dismiss movies because they're tied to games, but I also don't have beer goggles on while watching something tied to video games either.
'Course, I'd still rather play an average game than watch an average movie...

Redd, To the patch comment, I could go on all day about that whole process and bore you with the technical details. Suffice to say, Killzone 3 got patched Day 1 because it was ready a month in advance. Give the guys some time to properly fix the issues and get it through certification, and appreciate the fact that they're willing to fix the mistake unlike many other developers (it costs a lot of money to do patches).
As for gaming movies, I'll watch (and play) anything, and I typically enjoy the "horrible" stuff. I enjoyed the Double Dragon movie, but I'll admit it was horrible. The same goes for Super Mario Bros. - I enjoyed the fan service in it, and enjoyed the movie, but it wasn't a great movie. Movies need to be relevant to all audiences to be considered "good", and movies based on video game properties typically only hit a niche audience, which is why most people watching them can't relate.

I've seen the Super Mario Bros movie over a dozen times and there is still no way I'd call it a "good" movie. I really enjoy it, but can still realize its seriously lacking in many areas. While I dont pay any attention to critic reviews or movies (or games) I think they are dead on generalizing video game movies. I've seen a few that I've enjoyed, but none that I would call awesome.
