Frequently I check the local craigslist for old video game stuff. Rarely do I buy anything, but sometimes good things come up. I've gotten a PS2 and games, a Neo Geo pocket color and a couple of other things, but it doesn't add up to much for all the looking I do.
Awhile back I got a pretty cool lot, the ad said it was a C64 but when we got there it turned out to be a Vic-20 and TI-99 4A with games and cords and stuff. So I've been keeping my eye out for a C64.
Today I didn't have work because of snow and happened to find a C64 listed on craigslist.
Not bad for a day off of work and only $30. I haven't actually got it to display on the monitor yet, I think it's a loose connector or something. I have a bunch of Vic-20 and C64 wires and stuff already so I'm not too worried about getting it to work.
Very nice C64 lot, and I hope you get it up and running. I've bought a couple C64 setups from Craigslist, but one of them didn't work (bad RAM I believe.) I chuckled at the AOL disk. I remember getting these like crazy and formatting them for my own use. Saved me a bit of money on floppies back then.
Nice haul, does the floppy drive actually work? That would almost be worth the full price of the whole lot. (Except the boxed games) My 1541 from my dad's C64 stuff was in the box and even had the little paper insert in it when we dug it out, yet it still didn't work!
Thanks guys. As far as I know it is all in good shape and working, other then not getting it to display on the screen. Admittedly the C64 could be broken but I am optimistic that it is only a connection issue that I can fix. The guy I bought it from was the original owner, it has been in storage for awhile and all worked fine beforehand. He had been using the monitor elsewhere so it should be fine.
Unfortunately I may end up just putting it all away before I dig into it too deep. Our house doesn't really have a good place for this sort of thing to be set up and running as I would like. The next house will definitely have more room.
