2011 is over, I don't know if you know but it left us awhile ago. So it is time for me to play catch up with some of the stuff I bought but didn't post about earlier.
I somehow became a Spyro fan? It's confusing because I still have not played a single Spyro game yet own three of them. How does this happen? You can tell me in the comments section. I think I paid $2 for this:

We got to go to garage sales on a Friday, a rarity because of work and all. So this one sale is obviously people changing their lifestyle, I think they were selling everything but the kitchen sink, no wait, that was there too. Seriously. So there is a PS2 sitting there, I wasn't too interested at first as I had just bought one, but I had to ask. It had a price tag with a stupidly low price on it. The price was $5. ?!? All this for $5. Two dance mats, couple of controllers and memory cards, a few games, two demos (one sealed), a PS2 slim with box, a bunch of cords for the PS2 and random RCA cables. When I was buying it the little boy sitting next to his mom at the cash table was crying about it, I felt bad for him. I just tell myself it would have gone to a reseller if not me though. $5!

I think I got it all on the same day for less then $20 and the NES game was probably $5 of that. There is some good stuff in there. I like old boxed PC games. Twisted Metal: Black Online is rareish I think. The Sims games turned out to not be complete, they had like disc 2 of 2 from one game and disc 1 of 2 from a different Sims game. I got most of this from a charity thrift store, they were running a sale on cds and I bought all the games, some were pretty dirty and gross but cleaned up okay.

It's actually a Macintosh Classic. Oh well, I just need Oregon Trail now. Also it will look good sitting next to my Vectrex. This is now the only Mac/Apple product in our house. $5.
This was mentioned in my last blog post. It is a PONG console. Not just any PONG console though. This is dare I say the first? Sure there were other ways to play PONG at home before this but this was the first wide spread, stand alone, commonly available version. Made by Atari, sold to Sears, branded Tele-Games.
Almost immediately after this was released copies and variations by all sorts of companies came out, including Atari. Interestingly this has on screen scoring, something many of its imitators did not. Also it is not black and white, but has a color gradient going from left to right, so the puck changes color as it moves.
I got this off Craigslist (for $20) from a guy who collected and refurbished arcade machines. He wrote a book on arcade collectors and their machines and wanted to have a picture from the beginning of the home scene, so he bought this PONG to be in his book (
http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/2010021). I bought it from him, so my PONG console is the same one featured in a book! How cool is that?

That Mac Classic is great. I would love to find one at that price just for kicks. Does it work?

Thats really awesome about your Pong machine. I wish my cool game stuff could moonlight as fashion models.
|
@Duke.Togo: Yeah, everything works great. Judging from documents left on the hard drive and the person I bought it from, that Mac Classic just belonged to an older person who used it to write the occasional letter.

I somehow became a Spyro fan?
Better be careful with a statement like that. What with Skylanders being a big hit and all, the Spyro uber-die-hards might read that and see you as some Johnny-come-Lately poseur who "couldn't possibly appreciate nor ever truly comprehend the full spirit and breadth of the Spyro phenomenon."
Or some other such pompous nonsense.

Wicked deal on the PS2 stuff. Also the Mac Classic. I haven't seen one of those since my junior year of high school.
|
@bombatomba: We had a Mac Classic in the library at my High School. I don't know what it was intended for but Oregon Trail was on it and was the only thing I ever saw it used for.

Im jealous about that Mac and Pong
