This weekend didn't result in the finding of anything super rare or awesome, but what I did buy was at really low prices. So don't be surprised if your mind isn't blown away this time, but I think it will be worth your time to take a quick look this week. My dad actually picked this one up at a garage sale on Thursday. He said there were more, but he recognized the others so he figured they were all too common for me to be interested in, but this was the only one he did not recognize, so he bought it. Surprisingly, I actually didn't have it, but I wish he would have at least called to ask about the others, because they were $0.25 each.
I saw this NES and the Mario games sitting on a table marked $5, but I was a little hesitant since it was just the console, but I notice a grocery bag sitting next to it, tied shut, so I open it up and find a few AC adapters, the RF switch and controllers. At this point, I figured I should buy it, but I just wasn't feeling it. But then I opened it up and saw the gold shine of LOZ and then it hit me that I couldn't pass it up. I guess I'm just a sucker for shiny things.
This was at one of the very last sales of the day, at the point where I'm usually just frustrated and want to get home. I walked by it at first but as I was heading down the driveway, my dad said "did you see this bag that says Sega on it?". I turned around to take a look and picked it up and it felt too light to contain anything worthwhile, but once I unzipped it and opened it up, I found a very nice looking blue Game Gear inside. The unit looks new except its missing the battery covers. Along with the three games, and after I took that picture I found out there was a manual and some paperwork for the battery pack hidden under the tray that holds the Game Gear and accessories. It was priced at $5 and I was happy to pay that because I was thinking these were very rare/valuable, but turns out they're only going for $20-30.
Found this little beauty at a garage sale marked $25. I turned it on at the sale and everything came on, so I went into pictochat and played with the touchscreen to make sure it worked, and everything did, so I offered $20 on it. My offer was accepted. I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't have a stylus or the GBA slot cover, but I can use my extra stylus. My original intent was to sell it, but I'm going to keep it and use it to play so that I can keep my Mario DS in pristine condition. Its kind of funny, I figured by now I would have seen dozens of regular DS's but I've only seen a couple and they weren't priced cheap at all. This was the first DS of any kind I've seen at garage sales for a decent price, so either people are hanging onto these or are selling them on eBay.
I picked up this nice little PSX lot for $20. It was marked $15 for the system and $1 each for the games. I didn't check the games yet, but a good portion of them look new to me, so I figured I should be able to sell the system and dupe games for a bit of profit.
This was all I could find at the flea market today. The forecast called for rain and it looked like it was going to start raining any second all morning, but it never did rain more than a few drops. But just the threat was enough to keep most people away. The NES game was $2 and the SNES game was $3. He also had a Pokemon edition Game Boy Color in the box for $15, so I tried getting all three for $15 since I wasn't sure of the value of the GBC. Turns out, I'll have to grab that GBC next week if its still there.

Nice find on Sqoon and the Game Gear!
|
I tried the PowerBack (the battery pack on the GG) and it didn't charge right and only lasted a couple minutes. So I opened it up to find one of the cells was splitting open at the top. I can't for the life of me find the exact size these cells are to replace them, so it's looking like I won't be using it to play my Game Gear on the run.
@Paully3433: I guess its a little different when you see everything within a couple minutes, and when its spread out over 3 days and 100 miles. It still wasn't a bad weekend at all, just not one of my best.

Solid finds IMO.
Hopefully that Pokemon GBC is still there next week for you. I'd like to get one of those again.
|
Wow, I've never even seen that Sqoon game before.
|
Not a bad haul. But definately pick up that Pokemon GBC!
|
Great haul, as always. Wish I could have been there to tell you about the GBC...
To give a better perspective to everyone, I would love for you to give a total of places you visit. Personally, the sheer amount of places one must visit in order to actually get something of note pretty out of whack. Last week I was finally able to break a two year drought (I found some games at a garage sale), and though I only bought a three things (and I passed on about ten), I visited well over fifty garage sales

@bombatomba: I've tried counting garage sales, but its just so hard to remember to actually write it down after each sale and impossible to actually remember. I've been looking for one of those clickers that keeps count, but I haven't seen a single one.
But my best estimate is about 50 sales a week, usually split about even between Friday and Saturday. Today we started at 8 and didn't get home until 3, so that's 7 hours of constant saling. Tomorrow will probably be about the same. And the flea market on Sunday is a few hundred sellers.
