The past few weekends have been spectacular, a little too spectacular actually. My game room is a mess with stacks of games that need a shelf to call home and there is stuff in places where it doesn't belong. So I'm a little relieved this weekend wasn't so heavy with treasures as it gives me a chance to get caught up on organizing and stocking shelves. But it still wasn't a bad weekend at all, mostly thanks to one huge bargain at a garage sale on Friday.
For the Friday sales, my dad was off from work so he was able to come with me so we are able to cover a larger area that I don't usually go to by myself because I'm not as familiar with all the roads. It turned out to be a very good thing that he came with me. As I never would have gone to the sale this stuff was at if I was alone.
As I walked up to this sale, I see a woman carrying two NES games away, so I'm thinking there are a few NES games there that aren't priced great since she only bought two, or those were the only two they had at the sale. As I walked into the garage I see all these games sitting on the table with a sign that reads "$2 each or all for $10" The games were arranged in sets of a dozen or so, so I thought maybe it was each set for $10. But as I was looking through them, the woman said that it was $10 for every one of them. I asked if the controllers and hookups were included and she said they were, so I gave her the $10 and put them in a box and was very happy with it. There are only 10 or so that I needed, so most of them are for sale/trade. At first I was upset that they had a serious funk of cigarette smoke, but it turns out the smell was restricted to mostly the box I put them in, and one or two carts that were covered with nicotine (and actually came clean, amazingly). So they turned out to be in very good condition.
These came from a very nice garage sale on Saturday. The people had everything priced very cheap. We got a couple really nice toys for my niece for $1 each. We got there minutes after it opened and by the time we left, half of their stuff was gone (I ended up seeing a lot of the toys at the flea market the next day). Anyway, these NES games were mixed in with some music CDs so I asked how much they were, and a woman said "I don't know, $0.25 or $0.50" So I gave her a dollar for all four. The only one I needed was Prince of Persia, so the others are for sale/trade.
This all came from another Saturday garage sale. I didn't really want a Pico, but I bought it because the day had been really slow so I felt I had to buy something more; I figured my niece might enjoy playing with it in a few months; and because of the CIB Sonic game, which seems to be the most sought after Pico game.
The box was marked $10, so I offered $5 for it, she countered with $8, I offered $7 which she agreed on.
I actually found this in a trash pile on the curb while driving to another sale on Saturday. The cord that connects the pedals to the wheel is broke, but the plug is still there with some of the wires, so I might be able to test for continuity and find out which wires go to each pin and wire on another plug. Coincidentally, I have another wheel exactly like this one that I found in another trash pile in similar condition but without the plug, so if I can fix this one, I should be able to fix the other one too.
This is some small stuff that I picked up throughout the weekend. Columns III is CIB and was marked $2, I paid $1 for it. Uninvited (with manual) was $2, it had a rental sticker on the label, but I was able to remove it nicely, and Air Combat (CIB) was $1.
This isn't game related at all, but since this weekend was pretty dry, I thought I'd throw it in anyway. These CD's were marked $1 each, so I picked out around 30 of them and offered $10 for them, he countered with $15, which I agreed on. It's been a long time since I bought any CDs at a garage sale so I wasn't sure how many I didn't have. I ended up not having 16 of them, so I did alright. Some of the bands included are Led Zeppelin, Rush, Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Bad Company and a few more.
