Friday was the last day of Spring semester so I got out really early on Friday morning and since my mom, sister and niece were going garage saling Friday morning, I tagged along with them. I learned a couple things that day, the most important is that women take a very long time at garage sales. We spent about 6 hours saling and only went to about 1/3 of the sales that me and my dad could go to in that time. I also learned that saling on Fridays makes the Saturday really short for garage saling. We started at about 8:30 on Saturday and were home by 10:00, which is about 2 hours shorter than what we've been doing lately. I did manage to get some pretty cool stuff this weekend though.
I found this at one of the first sales on Friday, I wasn't interested in it initially, but it was marked at $0.50 so I looked in the box, saw the controller and 2 floppies and thought it was CIB, so I offered $0.25 and she took it. Turns out the games weren't in the box, the floppies were install disks for the controller. But as a bonus, there is a layaway slip from Best Buy dated 4/15/1997 with the original price of $29.99.
One interesting thing I noticed about the box for this is that at the top under the "Also Includes" Madden logo, there is a plain white sticker covering something else up, perhaps a different year Madden? And then on the side, under the "box contents" description is another plain sticker covering something else. So, does anyone know if there was an alternate version of this that includes additional items?
Just about everything in this picture came from a separate garage sale on Friday, but everything was $1 each (after haggling). Aside from the loose GB games, everything is CIB. The music CD is Robert Plant's "Fate of Nations".
These came from a regular flea market guy that always has some games, but they're usually the same old ones that he never lowers the price on. He was asking $2 each on them, but I offered 3 for $5 which he accepted. Nothing super rare or expensive, but they're all ones I need and with the exception of that sticker are in great shape, so they're a welcome addition.
These were also from the flea market yesterday. They were $3 each or 2 for $5. I didn't really want the Sunday Night NFL, but the case doesn't have cracked hinges, it has the styrofoam block, and I didn't have the game, so I got it with the Iron Helix (which is also CIB) but has broken hinges and is missing the styrofoam block.
This was easily the best deal of the weekend. This was from my regular trading partner at the flea market. It was sitting on his table and he asked me if I had an Atari 800 and said I could have it if I did. We talked about it for a while, and I told him I had an Atari 400 and wasn't sure if they were compatible (are they? anyone know, I haven't looked into it yet?) and he told me to just take it. I looked through a huge box of Atari carts he had and picked out the ones I didn't have. And then found the stack of manuals he had and traded him a loose DKC plus $5 for it all. I figured that was a good price considering how hard it is to find 2600 games I don't have. Plus, manuals are always nice to have.
Since the labels are near impossible to read from the picture, here are the games: Ballblazer (7800), Bump 'N' Jump, Kool-Aid Man, Breakaway IV, Crash Dive, Street Racer, Hunt & Score, Concentration, Brain Games, Arcade Pinball.
As of this posting, I have 2,035 total games, 1,634 unique games, and 401 duplicates. Which means I have 19 more total games, 19 more unique games, and 0 less duplicates since the last Treasure Hunt Chronicles. So far, I've spent $113.11 this year ($19.25 since THC #4) on gaming related stuff, and I spent $0.00 this week to ship stuff for trades and I brought in $30.85 from selling stuff, so I'm still ahead $73.09 so far this year. The total spent (amount actually spent on games plus amount spent on shipping for trades) this year, is $191.70 To sum up this year's stats, I have 113 more total games, 156 more unique games, and 43 less duplicates. And I am ahead $73.09.

I can't be positive on the Gravis pad but i have seen things before where they include something new in and old package and just throw a sticker on there of a case sleeve(like with systems GCN/PSOne come to mind). It saves companies from having to make new boxes when they still have originals in stock.

If your looking for 2600 stuff take a look through mine. They are all up for trade/sale. I had it listed in a sale thread w/ system and some number pad looking controller(i think it was for Star Raiders or star something... or something raiders...) before but no one seemed interested.

That 810 will work with the 400, but the 400 doesn't have enough memory to run most disk-based games. You have a 130XE, right? That'll work with the 810 no problem.

You must have an awesome garage sale location. Around where I live, there is almost no gaming stuff whatsoever.

@Izret101: After looking over the box very closely, I'm almost certain there is/was a version that included a limited edition Madden game. On the bottom of the box, it says "GamePad Pro with Madden Limited Edition". So I guess that edition really was limited, so they quit putting them in bundles after a while.
@ApolloBoy: Thanks for the info, I didn't even think about using the 130XE. I know next to nothing about pre-Windows computers,so most of this is new to me. One more question that I just thought of, do I need special Atari game disks or will it play any 5.25" disk? I'm assuming they need to be formatted to play on Atari stuff, but I figured I would ask to make sure.
@Wehll: This does seem to be an excellent location for garage sales, but keep in mind that I also spend a lot of time going to garage sales and go to hundreds of them over the summer. And there are plenty of sales that have nothing. I'd say maybe on a really good day, 1 in 5 will have something game related, but only 1 in 10 will have something interesting and 1 in 15 will have something worth buying.

@NES_Rules: The 810 only takes single density, single sided disks, so keep that in mind if you plan on saving stuff with it. For games, you need to look for games that are marked for the Atari 400, 800, XL, or XE. You can't use like an Apple II or IBM PC disk with it, as the Atari 8-bit architecture is very different from any of those computers.

@Moriya Hanzo: Thanks for the offer, but if my 130XE can use the 810, then I have no real need for an 800XL. And I'm not really into Atari computers, so it's not that big of a deal for me anyway.
