Last week wasn't great, but this week was just terrible. The worst part is that I have no idea why it was so bad. There were a ton of garage sales open this weekend and the weather could not have been better, but I found virtually nothing the entire weekend. Usually I can attribute a bad weekend with bad weather or a holiday or just not being able to go saling. But none of that was the case for the garage sales on Friday or Saturday.
This week was so bad that I had serious doubts of whether or not I wanted to do a blog entry. As you can see, I decided to go ahead and do one anyway, but with a slight twist.

Since I didn't buy much this week, I thought I would describe my recent foray into selling my duplicates on eBay. I just started selling on eBay in an attempt to get rid of some of my duplicates quickly, and it's working pretty well so far. With everything I've sold so far (4 auctions thus far) I've made more than enough to break even for the entire month of June.
I sold a Vader 2600 with hookups, controllers and 3 common games for around $21. A little lower than I wanted, but whatever, it's out of my hair now.
Next was a lot of 2600 joysticks (mostly nonworking) and 2 set of paddles (refurbished) that sold for $3.69. A lot lower than I wanted, but again, I'm just glad they're gone.
I also sold a yellowed SNES setup with 5 games for $33. A reasonable price IMO.
And finally, a refurbished NES setup with a blue power LED and 10 common games for around $50. I thought that was good price to get for it considering the system is pretty yellowed in the back.

Best Deal of the Week?

Getting poll results. Please wait...

This should be another close poll, as they're all pretty mediocre finds, one does stand out for me, but what do you think was the best deal of the week?

As of this posting, I have 2,142 total games, 1,786 unique games, and 356 duplicates. Which means I have 16 less total games, 1 more unique games, and 17 less duplicates since the last Treasure Hunt Chronicle.

So far, I've spent $464.61 this year ($4.00 this week) on gaming related stuff, and I spent $0.00 this week to ship stuff for trades and I brought in $116.05 from selling stuff, so I am down 59.50 this year. The total spent (amount spent on games plus amount spent on shipping for trades) this year, is $547.26

To sum up this year's stats, I have 220 more total games, 308 more unique games, and 88 less duplicates. And I have a "loss" of $59.50 for the year.

It finally happened. You've purchased all the gaming related items in your town. It was bound to happen eventually though. Tongue

The magazines and strategy guides for $2.50 is a great deal, so that's what I picked.

Well, you're not the only one, last Sunday was terrible, I only went home with a set of headphones and a VHS tape. Shame since the week before I got 9 games and two VHS films.

This is how the hunting's been for me for about 2 months now, which is why I've not been updating my blog. I don't know if it's the state of the economy that's causing it, but I've had to resort to eBay to get stuff.

@ga5ket:I am in the same situation

That Valkyrie Profile guide is pretty darn valuable. I'd be pretty extremely happy if that was my only find of the weekend Smiley

@Crabmaster2000: I sure hope not. I don't know what I would do with almost entire weekends with nothing to do.

@BadEnoughDude: I knew the FF7 was worth something, but I didn't check the VP guide to see if it's worth anything. I see one went for $62 on eBay, but another went for $10, so I don't know what mine is worth, but at least it's more than what I paid.

I forgot to mention (because I left it in the truck when I wrote up the blog) I also got a paperback book with the guides titled "Secrets of the Video Game Super Stars" by Len Albin from 1982. I can't wait to read about the "amazing video games of the future".

The FFVII guide was probably the least valuable of all the ones you got (other than Tomb Raider). I recently sold my FF8 guide for more than $20 (don't remember exact price...). That $10 price for Valkerie Profile is a total outlier - I've never, ever seen it sell for anywhere near that. Must have just been one of those auctions that slipped through the cracks. I would say that it has a pretty solid price floor of $40, and obviously good potential to go far beyond that.

It would be interesting to see whether they had the game for that, too? I'm guessing they did, at least at one point or another. It might be worth asking, if you see a sale there again.

@BadEnoughDude: They had a couple PS1 games but they were all missing either the manual, the back of the case or both, and there was no good titles anyway. I asked if there were more games, but she said there wasn't anymore.

Nice grab on the mags and strat guides.
