Once again, I had spectacular luck this weekend. Almost a 100 more games were added to my collection after the hunting was done for the weekend, and I got a system I've wanted ever since I first heard about it, but I never thought I would find one for a good price. Also, I've made the images clickable, so you can click on them and view them in their full size so you can actually read some of the game titles now.
This came from one of the last sales of the day on Friday. Their neighbors had an advertised sale in the paper, this one wasn't and they were still setting up when I got there around 11, so it must have been a spur of the moment thing. All this stuff was stuffed into a box and while I was looking through it she said the the SNES with it's stuff was $10 and the N64 and stuff was $20. Now, I would have been more than happy to pay that price since I didn't have a lot of the games and some of the SNES games were CIB, but I offered $20 for everything anyway, expecting her to refuse since they had just started the sale. But she happily accepted my offer.
Overall, most of the stuff is in good enough shape. The SNES is yellowed on the top, though it's not quite as bad as it looks in the picture, but there are several chunks of the plastic that are broken off as it's very brittle. The 3rd party SNES controller is probably shot, there are also large chunks of it missing, so it'll go in the ol' parts bin. The blue N64 controller has been half eaten by a dog, but it's not really noticeable when you're holding it.
This was a good sale, everything she had was marked reasonably and she wanted it all gone. These are what garage sales are supposed to all be like. When I first walked in the garage, I saw the GBA on the table marked $1. I thought "OK, if I don't find anything else I'll see if I can get it for $0.50" but then I notice a Super Smash Bros Melee box sticking out of a basket on the table, it was marked $4 so I grabbed it and found several more GCN, Xbox and PS2 games in the basket. Most were marked $2-4 each. So I took the ones I wanted (a lot of them were sports or crappy kid's games so I left them). And then check for discs in them, the SSBM turned out to be empty so I left it. After I picked out the games you see in the picture, I noticed some loose N64 games on the table next to a Game Boy carrying case. The N64 games were marked $0.25 each, the GB case was $1. I grabbed the N64 games and the case (thinking it was empty) to find it stuffed with GB/C games and the teal Game Boy Color. So I took all my stuff out of the garage to make an offer when I notice a box of magazines on the floor and see "Zelda" on one of them and then realize the box is full of strategy guides (everything from Mario Kart 64 to Metal Gear Solid 2) when I ask how much they were, she said "25" I wasn't sure if she meant $0.25 each or $25 for the box, but I think it was $0.25 each. So I offered $10 for everything. Without even looking at what games I had, she accepted. I'm happy with the deal, but I probably could have gotten the remainder of the games for the same price.
These came from a garage sale on Saturday. She had some other games, but the price weren't that great and the games weren't that great either. Originally, she wanted $2 each on the PS1 games, so I looked through them and only found one I wanted to spend $2 on (Ball Blazers) but it turned out to be an empty case. So I was thinking about offering $20 for it all (21 games in total), when she said she would take $1 each on the games. So I gave her a twenty and left.
That turned out to be the only game related thing I bought on Saturday, luckily the Flea Market was good to me to make up for it.
These came from my regular trading partner. He had a bunch of sealed Game Boy Color games, but wanted $5 each for them, so I told him if he held them for me next week, I'd bring him either an NES or SNES to trade. I ended up trading a loose Mario 64 (Player's Choice) and Goldeneye for these three. Command Keen and Coaster Works are sealed, Worms looks almost new aside from some scratches on the case.
These were marked $3 each, I paid $5 for both of them. I've heard good things about Body Harvest, so I had to pick it up and Wipeout was just one I didn't have.
Now for the really good stuff.
This was from a non-regular seller at the flea market (i.e. just someone wanting to get rid of their junk). She was asking $20 for the 5200, a good enough deal, so I looked through and saw it had the games and power supply and controllers, so I offered $15 for it, which she accepted. It's got everything but the RF switch and the controllers look new so I'm hoping they work. The games are all CIB as well.
I can't believe how huge this box is though. It's almost twice as big as the 5200 I picked up last week was, I know they didn't need that much space just to include Pac-Man.
This is my favorite find of the week by far. This guy was set up one spot away from my old trading partner, so I still can't believe he didn't grab this. At first I just saw the Sega CD and Genesis games on the table, so I asked how much for Slipheed (I knew I didn't have it and it wasn't sports so it was the only one I really wanted) and he said he wanted $30 for it all. At first I thought he meant all the Sega CD games, but he points out that the Genesis games and a pile of controllers/wires/ the Justifer were also included, and then he said "and this" and picked up one of the SCD games to reveal the CDX laying underneath it. My eyes almost popped out of my head when I saw it, but I tried my very hardest to play it cool and keep my poker face. So I asked if he would take $25, he thought about it and then agreed.
The games on the right are missing manuals, the ones on the left are all CIB. Everything looks mint or near mint condition (only 1 broken hinge in all those SCD games), the controllers look new and will probably replace my current set or go in with one of my CIB Genesis systems.
In non-gaming related finds, I found this at a garage sale marked $5. When I asked if it works, she said it probably needs a battery (which I expected) so I offered $3, and she accepted. I charged up the battery and so far it's held it's charge with no problem. The zoom on this is incredible (700x), I can stand at the house and zoom in on a leaf at the edge of the yard (200 or so feet away). I just need to get some tapes for it to make sure it does work completely though.
