Join me for the stream of conciseness that is Neo's "A Brief Look At" series! This month, we check out Darkest Dungeon, an RPG focused on killing all of your characters and stressing you out! There is a TON in this game, and I know that I do not cover everything, so if you have any questions, leave it in the comments!

Not sure if this game is for me, or not. I've taken to the Roguelike concept a lot faster and more completely than I thought I would, but I just don't know if I like this art style, or want all the layers of complexity.

@MetalFRO: Darkest Dungeon's character idiosyncrasy is leagues deeper than others, like X-COM. When someone dies, it is a HUGE setback...and it happens too often. It is also one of the few games where, after a win in a dungeon, I ran around my house yelling. If you are a big fan of classic RPGs, I'd give it a whirl...otherwise check out some of the other games in the genre first.

This game was a slow burn for me. It was released back when I was getting most of my gaming done through YouTube and Switch, and when I first saw it I wasn't that impressed. Back then the big buzzword in the gaming world was "rogue-like" and it seemed like nearly every game released had some sort of element that being attributed to Rogue. But, as time wore on I slowly gained an appreciation for it. I have to say that I think it is entirely due to the narrator. I like the game because of it can easily be played in bites with long periods in between plays without losing any sort of coherency, but what really draws me back in wanting to hear the narrator again. Weird, I know, but initially that is what brought me into Bastion; I like the gameplay and the story, but I really wanted to hear what Logan Cunningham was going to say next.
