We interrupt your regularly scheduled social distancing to bring you the July 2020 edition of
RF Generation's Site News! In this issue, we announce our August Community Playthrough games, reveal our shoot 'em up club title, discuss some open staff opportunities, and of course, thank those members who sent in submissions to our site and registered approvals last month. Thanks for keeping it on Channel 3 and please keep you and your loved ones SAFE!
REMEMBER: If you have any news about upcoming events or topics that you think the site needs to hear about, please PM singlebanana and put "RFG Site News" in the subject line. Who knows, maybe your news will make our front page!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUBMISSION NOTES:While we're very happy for everyone submitting new items to the database, we'd like to review a few rules regarding submissions. You can find all this info and more on the site Wiki under the About menu above.
Selecting United States instead of North America (Regionwide) - Unless you are certain that a release was only available in the United States and/or a different release was created for Canada/Mexico, you should select North America (Regionwide) for the Country/Region.
Using unapproved sub-genres - we've spent time in the database narrowing down the subgenres to a manageable list. Please only use approved subgenres (available on Wiki).
STAFF POSITIONS:RF Generation is an entirely volunteer run organization, and relies on all of us to participate to make this site a great place. Specifically, we are looking for more assistance in the following areas:
Database submission approvers - All submissions to the RFG database must be verified for correct information, no duplication, and meeting standards.
Web frontend coder - Requires experience in PHP and Perl.
If you are interested in volunteering, please contact a site director (Duke.Togo, singlebanana, or bickman2k).

AUGUST 2020 COMMUNITY PLAYTHROUGH

In August, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) kick it back to the Nintendo DS for a duo of fun-filled, beat-keeping action as they host
Elite Beat Agents and
Rhythm Heaven. These quirky titles will have you pressing buttons and frantically guiding your stylus across the touch screen in time with the music. So pack your DS for vacation, take it to the pool, or do like the Playcast crew and pack it for work alongside your sandwich to play at lunch. August purports to be a fun month of playthroughs, so join us in playing
Elite Beat Agents and
Rhythm Heaven and discuss both games with us on the forums.
If you're playing these games along with us in August, be sure to join our forum
HERE and chat with us about the games.

AUGUST 2020 SHMUP PLAYTHROUGH

We've likely all heard the expression that, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." In gaming, we see that a lot. A landmark game comes out, gets rave reviews, and then other development studios rush to copy the elements from that game. It's a tried and true formula, and one that has allowed many developers and publishers to continually refine a game genre, while still adhering to the basics. What happens when a developer doesn't blatantly rip off another game, but instead, pays homage to several, while doing something unique, and yet still keeping the essence of what the genre is supposed to be? That's what happened with System Erasure, and their independently developed shmup,
Zer0Ranger.
Rather than copying the formula of previous games, instead, it contains a lot of subtle references and Easter Eggs that pay tribute to many classic shooters over the years. It also brings a minimalist graphical style, and a unique look and feel. Take off in your fighter, and face off against the alien menace, ORANGE GREEN! Join the RF Generation Shmup Club in August 2020, as we take on the indie shooting game
Zer0Ranger!
