The Adventure of the Mega CD collectorThe Adventure of the Mega CD collector

I don't get games from America that often, thanks to the price for importing, the exchange rate and the current economy. US Ebay Auctions take advantage by putting the international postage price at up to 30 USD (21 GBP) which is stupid as this example shows you.

Just recently, I got in the mail a Sega CD game that came from Florida and it only costed 11 USD (8 GBP) which was a hell of a lot more fairer as I usually have to pay 4 maximum for a UK Mega CD Game.

Anyway, the game I got today was Panic! This was a game I've been interested in and have been waiting for to grab until now, I got this game for 13.50 USD (10 GBP) + Postage and in great detail as you can see in this photo.....

...except for one thing.

These are photos of the hinges

As you can see, they are held by tape and are fully cracked. I don't blame the seller for not noting this because this happened while shipping.

You see, when I opened my package, I saw the parcel not only had bubble wrap inside, but also was wrapped in kitchen paper. When I emptied the parcel, I got the game and saw no hinges, but the hinges fell out of the actual parcel! This also happened to my copy of Fahrenheit (except it wasn't both). Why does this happen? I guess if I bought the game with more expensive postage this might not have happened, my Revenge of the Ninja game was 22 GBP for postage and there were no cracks at all. But seriously, can't these people wrap these games better, I mean actually wrap the game with bubble wrap, you don't even need the parcel, sure it'll end up possibly like this after you open it
But it gets the job done.

All but 1 of my UK games had no broken off hinges or pieces on the box, maybe minor cracks on the case but no broken off pieces, because the sellers actually made self effort to keep the game in the best condition during the delivery, why can't that be the same for American auctions?

Price Paid (minus postage, I don't count that because of none online purchased games): 9.81 GBP
Total: 196.62

That's why I always package the stuff I sell more than is probably necessary, just to make sure nothing happens to it in transit.
But don't forget, gamepopper, that package came from halfway around the world, even the best packaging job doesn't always protect the contents from lazy or indolent workers.

I blame Obama.

If you think that's bad wait till you hear what USPS did to one of my games!  I bought a PSP game from a US seller (I'm in Canada). The guy shipped it in a bubble mailer. Fine, I don't have a problem with that. PSP games can handle quite a bit of shock in transit. It took 4 months to get here. The guy got tracking on it. For 3 and a half of those months it never tracked out of the post office he sent it from! When I finally did get it, the bubble mailer had no "bubbles" left. There were footprints all over it. Canadian customs sent me a nice form showing when it entered the country, and that it had entered in that state.

Apparently it was "lost" in the originating post office the entire time. I've seen how USPS handles packages firsthand. They just toss them in these large bins. Someone probably tossed the game and missed the bin. I'm guessing it got kicked around and ended up hidden under something for a few months.

It isn't always the seller's fault. USPS is pretty bad about the handling of packages. Seems they care even less when the package is leaving the states. Don't even get me started on UPS...

Jewel cases always have a larger chace of breaking than DVD boxes. Sad

Also, Antimind is right. Packages get tossed about like they're worthless. Seeing as that game came from the U.S., it was probably tossed in the post office in the U.S., when getting in the plane, when getting out of the plane, when getting in your post office, etc...

You can't really blame the people of the post office though. It's important to realise that these people have to work under time pressure and simply don't have the time to treat each and every package with the delicacy that you'd expect.

@The Metamorphosing Leon: I blame you! Tongue

@Sirgin: "You can't really blame the people of the post office though"
Yes you can. Aside from accidents, most of the damage to occur to packages can be avoided. Being in a hurry isn't an excuse for dropping or mishandling packages.

And for what it's worth, I've found that USPS seems to treat Priority stuff better than First Class and especially Parcel Post. The stuff I get that's been sent by First Class or Parcel Post always have a dented corner or partially caved in side. Priority stuff is usually in good shape upon arrival. Although that just may be a function of the travel time.

I blame myself. I'm sorry.

Thanks for all your comments, when I contacted the seller about this without accusations, he said that if there was insurance added it may not have happened. I don't think it's much of an excuse as the parcel said "Handle with care". It's just not games, I remember my parents getting this picture from abroad, taking it to the plan in a parcel with "Fragile" written. When reached destination and got the parcel, there was broken glass inside and the painting was scratched.

I've been recommended by several Postal Workers to never put a "Fragile" or "Handle with Care" sticker on my packages. They all told me that they seem to get a lot more abuse that way.

Most of the items i get in the mail come thru alright.
I have even had CIB SNES games come in a bubble mailer and not get bent.(I was still pretty pissed it was shipped in a bubble mailer though).

The only thing i have gotten and was very pissed to see the condition was my Tiger R-Zone Mortal Kombat 3 pack-in.
I got it from Sicily. The outide packaging had gotten pressure bends and the R-zone eye piece was shattered ad now floats around inside the blisterpack.
