Alrighty, I'm fairly new to collecting... my gaming addiction started in 1985 on Christmas day with an NES my parents bought for me at the ripe old age of 5. I had the common games, Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, The Legend of Zelda, and some others. My original NES suffered the common problem of the 72 pin connector going bad over the years. I took it apart with the intent of repairing it and my mother decided the disassembled NES in the corner was trash. Out it went with the rubbish. I've got the majority of my original NES games, as well as the controllers, zapper. and NES advantage. I never owned an SNES when they were the hot item.
I did own a Genesis. I gave my Genesis 2 to a friend for a birthday present.... Which he spilled milk on, thought was ruined and sold it to a guy for 20 bucks. The Genesis cleaned up fine, and worked the same as always. I still hold a bit of a grudge over that.
Fast forward about 20 years, and while at work I meet a guy (niceguy1283), that has a gaming collection that makes me drool... as well as a bit nostalgic for the games I played as a kid. A few good trips to local gaming stores, pawn shops, comic and collectable shops later I've gotten quite a few of the games that I loved in the past. That, and a good deal more. I now find myself with an NES, two SNES (one two-tone and one minty), a Genesis 1, PS2, Gamecube, and a Wii that I snagged at a very nice price. I've also got a Playstation, XBox, and a N64 that I picked up over the years previous to this renewed obsession with console games.
But enough jabbering... I know people around here love pictures! Here are some of my better finds.

Chrono Trigger, complete in box. Bought from a friend for 65 dollars. Box has a little orange peel effect going on, but what can you expect for 65 bucks?
Final Fantasy, also complete in box. Paid 40 dollars for this one.
