I am thinking about downloading this on XBLA, that way I get achievements as I play I love me some Treasure games
w00t! Treasure I love thee! Gunstar Heroes is one of my favourite Megadrive games OF ALL TIME!
Amazing game, can't wait to delve back into this.
I also still need to jump into this month's off the shelf Super Metroid. I've been a tad preoccupied. Maybe I'll start that tonight.
Awesome. I'll be picking it up on XBLA since my genny is unavailable :-/
just odered the GBA remake/sequel.
@noiseredux:yeah...that kinda won't be the same though will it? being the sequel and all?
If its Gunstar Super Heroes its definately not the same. I used to have that one and didnt much care for it.
it's not really a sequel, it's a complete remake. There's a nice comparison of the versions at hardcoregaming101.net. At any rate, I only collect for GB/GBC/GBA and GC. So I could use this as an excuse to get the GBA version to check it out, or I could just never try the game. So...
@noiseredux:but what Crabmaster2000 and myself are saying is that Gunstar on GBA is not a remake, its the sequel
@Link41:I enjoyed the sequel, but I have heard the Genesis version is the best. I guess I will see next month.
I was just going by what hg101 said: "A year later, Treasure announced a new Gunstar Heroes game, this time for the Gameboy Advance. But like Advance Guardian Heroes, it's not really a sequel - it's actually more of a drastically reworked remake, taking elements from the Genesis game, changing around the levels and mucking around with the core mechanics to create another new, yet familiar experience." Either way, it looks like a fun game that I've never played.
@noiseredux:I was just going with what Treasure said is volume 197 about how this was one of the first sequels they had done after breaking their "no sequel promise" but it doesn't really matter either way they are both good in my eyes
@Link41:volume 197 of Nintendo Power I mean
The hg101 article aknowledges that Treasure called it a sequel, but then goes on to show many comparison screens that seems to show it as a remake discguised as a sequel kind of deal. But like you said, technicalities aside, I'm thinking some Gunstar is better than no Gunstar.
I'll have to pick one up cause i don't own it.
I have the Gunstar Super Heroes game too. Mine is sealed though and is probably going to stay that way...
I snagged this when I saw it at a thrift store, having heard the name as a game to get on the Genny. If it wasn't for the fact that I need to finish Super Mario 64...
i love gunstar heroes fro gen. i also have the GBA copy. love it! =]
Gunstar Super Heroes definitely is a sequel. I've got both games and have played both. The levels and bosses in Super Heroes are 100% different besides the fact that two levels have the similar scenery (level design is completely different though). In fact, there's an overhead shooting level in Super Heroes which is unlike anything in the original and part of a level where you have to collect flicky's by rotating the screen. It's definitely, without a doubt a sequel and not even close to a remake.
It's still a good game though and has one of the coolest sequences in an action game (standing on a plane controlling the way the plane rotates in order to change where you're firing-- it causes the entire screen to rotate).
