Between vacations and site down time my blogs have been fairly sparce lately. I'm feeling revamped after my hiatus though and ready to tackle some more NES goodies! Because of the forum loss I dont have access to the list I had made with the difficult NES games I planned to tackle. Fortunately I had already finished most of the list. The two games I know I didnt finish before the crash were Hydlide and Arkanoid. Arkanoid was, and still is, giving me a fair amount of trouble so I'm going to put it on the back burner until I can get a Vaus pad to try out. Hydlide on the other hand was fair game though and something that has been a thorn in my side since my 7th or 8th birthday. No longer though. I was finally able to slog though the mess of a game that is Hydlide. And it was righteous! If your one of those guys that likes seeing me die a lot this video will be one of your favorites. Since I didnt want to map it out myself again (I seemed to have misplaced the maps I made about 5-6 years ago) I used a map from gamefaqs in order to shorten the play time. Just before I left on my trip I was also able to squeek out one more win on Godzilla. Duke and I had planned to get a commentary for it, but I was having some tech issues on my end. Unfortunately it didnt pan out. I'm thinking about doing a Movie Marathon and playing a pile of movie licensed games. Shout out your favorites (or not so favorites) in the comments. Hoping to play stuff like: Die Hard, Dirty Harry, Predator, Back to the Future, etc.

I say your Hydlide post on Youtube before I came here. Wow, does that bring back some horrible memories. Oddly enough the gameplay isn't what seems so unappealing, but the music. To have to listen to the same crappy song over and over...
My hat is off to you, Crab. As for games... 3D World Runner. This is the only NES game that I've played more than a five times over the past ten years (with the exception of Final Fantasy) and I've never been able to finish it. Grr.

Back to the Future.....it is horrendous >.>

I'm thinking about doing a Movie Marathon and playing a pile of movie licensed games.
I got one for ya:
HUDSON HAWK
The fact that they licensed a game for that flick is one of mankind's greatest mysteries.
While you're at it, howzabout:
LAST ACTION HERO
Call me crazy, but I actually liked that silly movie.
And, of course, you gotta take a try at the game the beloved Kacho took a stab at in his GameCenter CX in the USA special:
ROBOCOP
BTW as far as I know, no one ever released a Dirty Harry game, though one was developed and cancelled a few years back.

I liked Last Action Hero also. I'll eat up pretty much anything with Arnold in it, and Brad Pitt too!
|
Now I know it technically isn't a movie title, but what about S.C.A.T.? It does have Arnold and Sigourney in the cutscenes.
That, or maybe Beetlejuice or Nightmare on Elm Street (didn't those games sort of look alike?).

Well knock me over with a feather.
Guess I'm not as big a Clint Eastwood aficionado as I make myself out to be.
BTW one theme you might consider are NES titles based on TV shows...

Try playing through all of the LJN games on the NES and see which ones you'd actually want to play again.
Honestly, I'd like to see you give all of the Unlicensed titles a spin, even if they are just emulated if you don't own them.

Games come to mind some probably already mentioned - Die Hard, Dirty Harry, Both Back to the Futures (well technically three), Hudson Hawk, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street (hard as hell), Hunt for Red October, The Rocketeer, Addams Family, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, The Lone Ranger (TV show but still), Little Mermaid, Little Nemo, Rambo, and just to throw them out there even though they aren't movies but based of television - Capcom's lovely Ductkales 1 & 2, and RR 1 & 2. Am I forgetting any?
|
Yes I am forgetting some - Batman & Batman Returns, Toxic Crusaders (another TV Show), The Karate Kid, Hook, The Jungle Book, The Last Starfighter, Lethal Weapon, The Untouchables, Willow, Star Wars, Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back, and some more Cartoon based - TMNT 1, 2 and 3.
