Looks great! The black walls look much better than I would have thought. Those shelves look great too, they look are sturdy and can accommodate a range of game sizes.
|
The range of box sizes was a huge factor in designing the shelves like I did. As my collection grows I can adjust the heights of the shelves to accomodate different sized boxes.
The black walls are really cool when your in there, especially with all the lights of while gaming. Its intense. I cant wait until I have time to get lost in an RPG.

Looks amazing. Its so strange to see all "my collection" in another persons pictures....
|
@Izret101: I always love when I spot something that I sold someone, but everything I've sold has been duplicates so far, I can imagine it's quite a different feeling seeing something you really didn't want to get rid of.
|
Yeah basically my whole Dreamcast collection sans 3 games, my entire Atari Collection (not yet shown), 3/4 of my Odyssey 2 collection (also not shown yet) half a dozen N64 games, a few gamecube and wii games all came from Izret. What can I say, he's a great guy with tons of stuff I want and as a plus I get to help him out when hard times hit so thats a bonus.
There is also a buttload of stuff from Antimind, Tholly, Cverz, Logical, NES_Rules, Feechy, and a few things from a couple other rfgen members also. This place has really been a boon to my collection over the last year. I definately wouldnt be were i'm at right now without rfgen!!

i just noticed my son's tasty looking milk slobber in the last picture (and also that I need to clean up some more painters tape and sweep a bit better under the shelves)
|
I too noticed the slobber. Reminded me of my son lol It's nice to see everything has a good home My collection hasn't been set up nice like that since 06.(Old pics are still in my collection profile)
Also like you said you have been a massive help to me a few times. I loved owning the games but i can always find them again (Maybe not MvC2....)
|
If I ever find another MvC2 for cheap its coming your way. I love that game.
|
Beautiful shelving you have Crab and the layout looks great. Looking forward to more pictures of your gameroom. What kind of artwork are you putting up ? It would look great with some marquee's or NES posters.
|
Fantastic pictures, and awesome looking shelves/game room.
In one of your earlier blog entries where you showed the all-black walls and all-black shelves I thought it was a little bit much, but now that I see it with games in it, it looks so much better than I thought it would! The bright and flashy colors of the game boxes really stand out against the black shelves and make them look extra good, if you know what I mean. They also balance the room's overal color out (a completely black room wouldn't be that fun to sit in, I think).
I also like the way (both) your console units match the rest of the room.
Awesome stuff.

It's looking great. I love the black walls. At first I didn't like the idea of the games in that closet. But now that I see the way it is. I like it. It's like they are tucked away and keeps the room from looking cluttered.
Now save up some money and get rid of that TUBE TV. LOL
|
@ Crabby My fiance says your son is cute. She also got a kick out of seeing your collection.
Is this the final update or do you still have more surprises up your sleeve?
Also how big is that room? It looks like you have so much yet so "little" at the same time...
|
@Ghost Soldier
I want to keep the wall clutter to a minimum, but I do have some cool posters and ideas to put up around the room. I'll probably hold off until I can get some of it framed so that it keeps a clean/professional look.
@Sirgin
I'm glad you saw one of the reasons I painted everything black. I really wanted the games to be the showcase and the shelving secondary so I'm really glad to hear thats how you saw it!!
The matching console units just happened to be a coincidence. I've had those things for about 5 or 6 years now.
@Cverz
I've always liked the closet idea. I may even go one step further in the future and put the doors back on. That was the original plan, but I really like how it looks right now so I may end up just leaving it open.
I'd love to get another Flat Sceen LCD for the room mainly because then I'll have room for a few more systems on the same top shelf. Unfortunately I've got tons of other priorities ahead of "buy another TV". Sucks.
@Izret
Your Fiance has great taste in sexy children. Glad to hear she got a kick out of my/your collection.
I'll measure the room sometime tomorrow and post up the size in the comments here for you.
This definately isnt the last update. I've got many more plans for this room. I'll probably post again when the rest of the shelves get put up and I spread things out a bit more, again when I get some stuff hung around the room, again when I get it cleaned up and dusted. My mommy is also helping with a "special project" for my game room. It should be pretty freakin awesome when its done, but it will be a few more months before its complete.
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. I'm glad I could show all you black room nay-sayers that they arnt so bad. I also dont know if anyone noticed the trim, mainly because you cant see it in a lot of those pics, but the black wall with the brick colored trim was matched to Super Mario Bros level 3-1.
|
@Crabmaster2000: Now that you mention the trim, it does look pretty cool. I didn't even notice it before since it's so small in all the pictures. Red always makes a neat trim color for black.
I like the closet without doors, it keeps the games visible and more or less the focal point of the room, but with them tucked away they don't make the space look cluttered or too full. It's a good combination the way it is.

impressive
|
Very nice! It came out very well Crabmaster, congratulations!
|
Beautiful! If I ever get a game room I've pondered using black. I think it looks really cool. The red floor trim is a nice touch too. You did a great job.
|
@NES_Rules I agree with you completely which is why I'll be keeping it open for the time being.
Thanks for the feedback guys!! I'm really happy I shared this with you guys!
