Last night I finished Rollergames, but only after discovering that I had left my NES running... for over two weeks!  Shortly after finishing Super Mario I decided on Rollergames after a recommendation by Crabmaster2000.  To my delight I found the game to be quite fun, and within about an hour (stretched over a few days) I found myself at 6-2...  where I stayed for at least another hour (this time spread out over a week).

Which leads me to last night.  After finally overcoming 6-2 I made a beeline to the last boss.  He was difficult at first, but once I got over the fact that all of his moves cancel out your moves (even your special) he went down pretty quick.  For some reason he put me in mind of the martial arts boss in the first Tenchu game (I can't remember what his name was).

Once my kid stops playing Angry Birds Space I'll upload and post my photos.

Now that I've finished another game, I think that my basement setup (with the projector) will now be the focus of my Retro Summer Game Challenge.  To simplify things I'll just use the list from last time, but I'll leave it up to you guys.  Which one should I play next?

Rollergames
Conquest of the Crystal Palace
Ironsword
Dr. Chaos (I know, not a pure action game)
Rollergames
Total Recall
Ultimate Stuntman
Tombs and Treasures
Swords and Serpents

Glad to hear you played, and enjoyed Roller Games! I was definitely pleasantly surprised since I've never heard anyone say anything about it.

My vote goes for you playing Tombs and Treasures or Swords and Serpents since I havnt played either. You can let me know how they are and give me some pointers when I finally get to them.

It's funny you bring up leaving your NES running and Conquest of the Crystal Palace. When I was living with a friend before I got married, I bought Conquest of the Crystal Palace. My friend and I were spending a morning playing it, I think it gives you infinite continues, we were intent on finishing the game. As I remember we got pretty far into the game. At some point we both had to leave so we just left the NES on, intending to finish up later. My now wife came over and thought we left the NES running by accident and turned it off. My friend and I were so disappointed we never went back to playing it.

I keep meaning to go back and play it, it was pretty fun, but haven't yet. Conquest of the Crystal Palace is my vote.

If Rollergames is anything like Rollerball-- the original with James Caan, 'natch, not that godawful crappy remake-- then color me there!

Like I need another addition to my wish list... heavy sigh.

@Zagnorch:Oddly enough, there is an arcade game called Rollergames that is quite like a actual roller derby game, but the only thing that it has in common with its NES counterpart is the team names, I believe.  The NES game is an action game with platforming segments weaved throughout (basically the epitome of an NES game).  What I liked was that the characters have momentum, so when you turn on a platform to make another jump you need to make sure you actually have room to do so.

At this point I can highly recommend it.  For what it is, it is an excellent game.

So I'm an odd ball. So I am usually the last to post on a blog/forum. So I only post about weird games on weird platforms. So I have a strange relationship with commas and parenthesis. So what? Hey, at least you don't have to car pool with me to work, right? So have a heart, eat a blueberry, and don't forget to drop the empties in the box on the way out. I get deposit on those.
