What are your favorite systems to collect for?  I know, I've said this a million times, but I don't consider myself much of a collector.  Sure, I do buy and keep pretty much everything that interests me (when I've got the clams, that is), but I've never really went out looking for something in particular.  NES, SNES, Genesis, it's all the same to me.  But there is one particular kind of game that I enjoy finding more than another, almost to the point that I'd end up buying (relative) crap as long as the box is pretty.

PC games.

Like many of you, I am a child of two worlds:  arcade games (mid-eighties to mid-nineties) and consoles (early eighties to current).  Unlike in the UK, low priced computer systems never caught on past the C64, and even then that would be a hard sell to my penny-pinching parents.  So finding PC software from ANY time period, be it eighties or current, is always thrilling for some reason.  One of my favorite finds of all time was when I discovered that the local EB Games sold used PC games.  This was just before they were sold to Gamestop, like around a month before or so, but nonetheless I managed to purchase well over 50 games during this period.  Everything from the Crusader games to the Silent Hill games and even full boxed copies of the Baldur's Gate games!  I must have drove my poor wife crazy, bringing home a couple bags of stuff every Friday for a month with a mad gleam in my eyes.

Well, what about it.  Anything you guys tend to look for more than others?  A guilty pleasure perhaps?

I get really excited when I find boxed N64 games for some reason. I have no logical reason why these appeal to me over any other system, but they do for some reason.

I must say that I enjoy collecting on poor Nintendo's underrated Gamecube Tongue

I think its probably the dreamcast lots of quirky and arcade games that aren't on other consoles or just don't feel the same. Plus there a rare enough find at most the places I look to make them a bit special when I do find them.

My favorite system to collect for is the NES, but my favorite to play is actually the SNES. The NES was my family's first game system and is what I grew up playing so it will always have a special place in my heart. And I think the cartridges are just so cool looking with their little handle indents that make a row of them on a shelf look really neat. Plus, the artwork on the boxes and cartridges are usually pretty sweet looking. And it provides a good challenge to collect for as its not easy to get a full US set but not impossible either.

My favorite finds are anything "old" (earlier than GBA for handhelds DC for systems) and that is CIB/sealed specifically cardboard boxes.

That never happend anymore though which is fine since i have been kinda phasing out cartbased systems for space reasons and moving more towards CD/DVD based systems.
Specifically PS/2/Xbox/360. I pick up GCN/Wii games if the price is right which also seems to be less common than it use to...

My new fav. system to collect for is the Saturn because it is the hardest system to find down here. I have only bought 2 games off ebay, one which was sold after i traded for a complete one. SNES is second since i had a nice size CIB collection. CIB is really really hard to do.

The NES is my favorite to collect for. I am not a CIB collector so I hope to eventually come close to a full US set. Even the wacky peripherals and controllers I love to pick up, takes me back to my youth.

I will say that my second favorite is SMS CIB collecting. With the nice SEGA cases I just can't bring myself to collect loose for this system. The power of the checkerboard box compels me.

My favorite to collect for is the N64.  I love the crazy colors and the games.

GBA is also fun to collect for because of the ease of portability.

The Genesis is my favorite system to collect for by far, meaning I have the most fun while doing it. No matter what game it is just seeing those little black cartridges take me back to being a kid.

Second is a really a tie between the saturn and the gamecube. I had always drooled over the Saturn when it came out so now that I have one there are just a ton of games for it ive always wanted to try. The gamecube because IMO its by far the best nintendo system they made a 50/50 mix of serious "hardcore" titles and those great quriky oddball surprises.

So I'm an odd ball. So I am usually the last to post on a blog/forum. So I only post about weird games on weird platforms. So I have a strange relationship with commas and parenthesis. So what? Hey, at least you don't have to car pool with me to work, right? So have a heart, eat a blueberry, and don't forget to drop the empties in the box on the way out. I get deposit on those.
