This is just a notice to let you know that we begin the process of moving to a new server tonight at 10PM Eastern. I haven't disabled anything yet, but chances are somethings might get disabled during the move. Things might be pushed into read only mode, I am not sure yet, but I just want to give you kids the heads up before some kids start freaking out.
Our host has offered to upgrade our server for free. Better yet, the new server will be 10 dollars cheaper a month. Needless to say, we're moving servers. Image Submissions are disabled until we finish the move, which hopefully will be wrapped up by the end of Tuesday. Other things should remain online since the mySQL tables are pretty portable. We'll keep you posted to the changes, and if anything should go awry, our emergency blog will have the information you're probably going to be looking for. We don't anticipate any significant downtime, but it's always good to be prepared.

You know, Mega Man 2 is fantastic. Absolutely and completely fantastic. Well, there is this video of Mega Man 2.5D. Doesn't it look amazing? Too bad Capcom isn't the one developing it. If only they'd let this development continue to completion. Have a blind eye, just like Nintendo did for Mother 3.
Well, today is St. Patrick's Day. It's a lovely day, really, and regardless of if you're Irish or not it is a fantastic excuse to get drunk, provided of course you're of the legal age. Wow, it's been a while. I am really sorry about that. You guys deserve more credit than when I feel like it. Hopefully we can get more consistent updates as to our database's grow from here on out.
Anyways, we've had quite a few submissions in the last two months, 4989 to be exact. 2167 new images. Damn! Who did all these submissions? Why, it's people like ga5ket, who is kicking ass and taking names as the top submitter so far of 2009! But, he's not making submissions alone, Pop_Culture_Portal, Funk_Buddy and Fuyukaze are right behind him in the hunt for top submitter. Of course, when there are all these people making a whole hell of a lot of submissions, we need to have a dedicated group of staff members to review your submissions. Well, who's been doing that, you ask? Why, it's been mostly Tan and NES_Rules, our number one and two reviewers! Of course, Apolloboy, Fuyukaze, bum-man, and Funk_Buddy haven't been slacking around either each doing their part for more than 50 submissions in the last two months. Thanks goes to them for their hard work.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for your submissions, even if you didn't make enough to get mentioned explicitly in our post, know that your submissions keep our site growing and strong. For that, we are truly thankful.
As most of you probably know, the US economy is not exactly in the best of conditions right now. Reeling is a good term to use, really. So, in this time of great uncertainty and sadness, why not check out this lighthearted take on the Second Great Depression?
Well, that explains a lot about the economic collapse. Also, I'd totally buy that game. It's full of win.
 It's a weird feeling, sort of like you'd envision the Mafia to work. Just when you thought you had removed yourself from being a hardcore gamer, some game pulls you back in. Such is my new addiction.
When I am not being a good little Site Director and coding the site, I find that I have an addiction. This game has me so engrossed that it just isn't funny anymore. When the weather outside is bad, this is the game that keeps me glued in front of the TV. What game is it? Why, it's Rock Band 2.
It's funny though, because this game was the second of the two band games that I bought. See, I bought Guitar Hero: World Tour first because I thought it would have the better instruments since Red Octane was originally a hardware manufacturer. So, I had higher respect for their workmanship. Looking back, it wasn't a bad choice based on limited data, but, it's as though the future has set ablaze to that notion. I've now RMA'ed by PS3 Guitar twice and Drum Set once. It's.... ridiculous. I'd complain more if it wasn't for the fact that their RMA process has been really good, and I get free batteries out of it. I just hope that these new instruments actually continue to work as intended, but hey, right now the drum set works and I am addicted.
Why is it that I like Rock Band so damn much? Well, I like the drums, and I like them a lot. It's probably the closest analog of an instrument that any rhythm game has, and I find that great. To me, it feels as though I am actually playing the drums, and that feeling completely engrosses me, much more than playing the plastic guitar ever will. This feeling, coupled with the amazing track list of the Rock Band franchise (Radiohead and Talking Heads YEAH!) keeps me addicted.
Now, you might be asking why I like Rock Band 2 more than Guitar Hero: World Tour. That's a fair question, and I'll give you my spin. Rock Band takes the Band Experience and does it well. While World Tour makes you move from stage to stage, Rock Band does it with more pizazz. I love that although I play by myself the game treats my play through as a band. So, regardless of venue, my band's always the same members of Valley Junction. Guitar Hero, as far as I know, does not do that if I select Drums, and perhaps I should have delved into the band option, but at this point it seems like a moot point. Rock Band has won my heart. Not only does it keep my band intact, but it also makes you feel like you're in a rising band better than Guitar Hero ever will. Hire a staff, take risks, make fans, Band World Tour in Rock Band 2 is a treat and I love it. Perhaps you love it too.
So, such is my addiction. Any of you out there also addicted to this game? I know I am, and to a certain extent it drives me crazy... in a good way.

Yeah, so it's been a while since we added something new for you to play with, but today is your lucky day. 2008 was a rough year, and we're going to try to make amends in 2009.
Well, this might not seem like anything major, but the new feature that you can all use is that you can now save drafts of your blog articles at any point in the process of writing the article. What? You think that's pretty lame? Well, that took a lot of time to do, and it's part of a larger project that most of you are not affected by, but yeah, that project is good for the site so HOORAY!
Anyways, I hope that those of you that use the blog find this tool useful. Also, it should be noted that there probably are bugs. If you find that an article does not save, use the back button to get back to your article and let me know what exactly happened so I can fix it. From all of us at RF Generation, enjoy!

God, it's been a while. Have you missed my Cynical Nature? My friends would tell you that I can be quite the Cynical Bastard, but in recent history I've moved to a new state and my Cynical Nature has been placed on the back burner as real issues consume my life. Life is good and all, and while I've been furloughed for four days I still have a job and that's fantastic.
Lucky for those of you that enjoy my Cynical Nature, I am writing this article. I mean there's plenty of things to be cynical about if you're American. For the sake of this article I'll keep it to limited to gaming. Let's jump into a few of those topics, after all it's been a while and some things have certainly happened.

 So, what happened, Circuit City? In the eighties your service was state of the art! You even said so yourself! So why is it that a few days ago you decided to liquidate all assets, which in layman's terms means to close. Certainly it wasn't the fact that in the nineties you failed to update your incredibly dreary stores to fit new retail trends. While Best Buy had bright and inviting stores your stores continued to look like the dark, black abodes of sleazy electronics salesmen that was supposed to be a relic of the eighties. Might that have helped in bringing your downtown? Possibly, but who can be certain.
You tried to change, Circuit City. Your new stores look like a Best Buy ripoff, except instead of blue they are red. Too bad though that your changes we too little, too late. By the time you chose to adapt, Best Buy was already dominating the market, and there was little room for you to catch up. When we entered the second Great Depression, you were screwed.
So here we are today. Circuit City is closing. I'd shed a tear, but I worked at Best Buy and I loved it. I mean sure Best Buy has a few screw ups here or there, but Circuit City failed over the whole decade. And of course there are now the massive liquidation sales going on, but as The Consumerist states - Be Careful! Liquidators mark up items to their original prices or higher just so they can be "marked down" 30%. Sometimes, you might even spend more money on the item during the liquidation. Also, if you have Circuit City gift cards, you might want to spend them now.
Goodbye, Circuit City. You're service may have been state of the art in the eighties, but your inability to adapt coupled with the second Great Depression has killed you off. You won't be missed.
Now, I like game music, and Super Mario Galaxy had some damn good music. Of that music, I probably like the Buoy Base Galaxy theme the best. It's certainly one of the better pieces of music of this current game generation.
Now, music is great and all, but wouldn't it be greater if it could be manifested through Mario Paint? Well, thank god it can, thank god that it can.
As many of you know and experienced last year, RF Generation went from a shared hosting solution to a dedicated solution over the course of two months. It certainly was a tumultuous two month period which rather cruelly began on April 1, which for those of you that are new is a high holy day at RF Generation. Needless to say, we've been on a dedicated solution since June and with such a solution comes significant costs.
In case you're wondering, RF Generation costs 90 dollars per month to operate currently. The site, as you may have noticed, does not currently have any ads on it, and well, we'd like to keep it that way. So, you might be wondering how this site is funded.
To say that RF Generation is nonprofit is a huge understatement. While the fact that RF Generation is a nonprofit site (after all, it's your site) is true, it's also true that RF Generation relies solely on donations to keep the site running. Sure, we have the store, but to get that revenue you need to have a certain number of sales and frankly we don't have that many sales to sustain the site or even cash out a check.
Every month that we do not receive enough donations to cover the cost of the site the remaining cost is split between two people, St0rmTK421 and myself. While the first few months had been okay for server costs, towards the end of 2008 our donations were rather few, and we found that more often than not the two of us were footing most of the bill for the site.
So, why am I writing this? Well, I just want to let you guys know how revenue generation is going with the site. I also want to write this to make a personal plea to all of you to consider donating to keep the site running. Ninety dollars a month is not cheap, especially when one of the two people on the hook for the tab was smacked with a four day furlough, which while he appreciates the time off, hates the pay deduction. God bless America. So, please, please, consider donating. Every little bit helps. I mean, if the entire site donated a dollar we'd be good for about two years. That won't happen, but please, consider donating. RF Generation is great, we want to keep RF Generation ad free for as long as possible. Donations allow us to do that. While I can't guarantee any snazzy features for donating right now we would be forever grateful and you might get to see somethings in advance of their release, but then no guarantees there. Donating is a noble cause that keeps the community's site going. Please, consider donating.
At least one of you is running in this contest, and well, I wish them luck. Chances are more of you could be running in the contest, and well I wish you all the best of luck. Oh, and did I mention that we have some sort of tracking software for those collections on that website, and our tracking tools are free? FREE I SAY! Always will be, too. I mean, we're not whores or anything. It's just that when you have tracking tools as awesome as ours, you really want to get the word out.

2008 is over, and has been now for almost three days. Is it sad? Nah, sure the economy hit the dump and many developers went belly up but that does not mean that there were not some great moments in gaming over the year. Sadly, there were also bound to be some disappointments as well. Being now 2009, it seems like the perfect opportunity to reflect on the previous year as it pertains to games. Let's all do that, shall we? I'll start.
