The hunt for a Candy Cab. For a while now I have lived in Japan but acquiring one of these seemed nearly impossible. Most modern arcades no longer carry these vintage machines let alone trying to maintain them. I did reach out to a friend who spoke to a local arcade owner whos business primarly consisted of these but that seemed to get knowwhere. Well fast forward a few months and we tried again and this time I was successful.
Was not sure how this day was going to go but decided to bring the camera and have a little fun with it. The results turned out much better then I expected. Hopefully you guys enjoy.
So as some of you might know I have actively been pursuing the complete North American N64 Collection all with the original boxes and manuals. I started the journey with 12 games complete in box back as of February of 2013. Surprisingly Facebook just reminded me of a photo I shared two years ago of my N64 collection sitting at 214 by August of 2013. So I was on a roll, the games were coming in at a rapid rate and I was under the impression I might of been able to finish the set by the end of the year.
Fast forward to August 2015 and I have now completed the set. Two in a half years from the point of when I started. Surprisingly the games started getting more and more difficult to come by, especially in the condition I wanted them in. But thankfully that did not deter me from completing the set. So I present you the Complete North American N64 Collection.
It is a little late now but I want to apologize for making this blog so photo heavy. But more are coming along side a few YouTube videos I made in regards to the set.
So I wanted to add some additional photos of the set but I did not want to just focus on the expensive titles because that is overkill. So I decided I was going to show off some of the fun titles for the system but then realized that I would be here all day taking photos. So as of Novemeber 4th 2014 which is the last time I made a blog in regards to the set I posted the last 9 games I was on the hunt for. So I decided lets go over some of the games that has caused me trouble finishing the set. Some of these games are just downright hard to find while others are actually pretty common but hard to find in decent shape. Most of them I actually ended up purchasing factory sealed for condition purposes.
Hercules has a sticker on it but it is on the outside of the factory seal
All three of these games are factory sealed with ISS pretty much breaking the bank due to it being the English text version which is a lot harder to come by then the one with spanish text.
Then Finally these last three with both Turok 3 Shadow of Oblivion and TopGear Hyper bike being factory sealed. But by far the biggest struggle for me on the system was getting Stunt Racer. Very rarely does it show up in mint condition and even mine has slight flaws like a slight crease on the box sadly.
Upon completing the set I made a few videos in regards to it on my YouTube channel. The channel is not big by any means but it is a fun way to talk about games to a big audience. The first video is of me just talking about completing the set with games and boxes. The second video is of me actually going down the line and picking out titles here and there. There is a handful of titles I skipped over like Turok which I have no clue why but it is still fun for the titles I do talk about.
So where to next? This is a question I have been asked a lot but I honestly do not have a solid answer. I kind of have my hands in a lot of different things at the moment but I have been picking up some stuff as it comes along. Still not sure if I am going to attempt to complete the set of any of them however.
Recently I made my first Big Box variant purchase. With the purchase of a factory sealed DK Plush Pre order item from Target. It is not a actual game but I am considering going on the hunt for some of the Big box variants and other variants the system offers like the Gauntlet legends variant with the little figure.
I have also started the hunt for some of the complete in box N64 consoles as I come across them. I am far from finishing the set but I am also not in a rush to due so.
Then finally I have started on the Japanese exclusive N64 games. This is something I did not consider in the past however I am no longer living in Italy and I am now living in Japan so it is a no brainer to grab these as I come across them. I am only currently going for the complete in box games and I have not decided if I am actually going to collect the complete set. Once I move from Japan in a few years if I am near the complete set then I might pursue ebay and get the rest. I honestly do not know anything about the Japanese N64 market. Hopefully there is not any games that are demanding hundreds of dollars which could deter me from finishing the set.
But with that said thanks for sticking around and reading up until this point. It has been a long and fun journey but I am happy it is over. I am also pretty happy I could document it all on this wonderful site and share it with all of you. Thanks again for following along.
So the end is near. I started this journey Feb 12th 2013 and I am still poking at it.
Some of the members on this group know that I have been living in Italy the past few years, but before moving here I lived in Michigan for the bulk of my life and then followed that up with three years in Nebraska. During that time frame I was a local game shopper, commonly visited places for me were game stores, good wills, thrift stores and flea markets. The normal spots most game collectors head to on a average day of game hunting. Well during the first year here in Italy, I only bought newer games on the Military base I work on and games from the local American community that also works on the base. It kinda worked for a while but it did not satisfy my needs for the hunt.
Well a year passes, I knew that I was going to be heading back to Michigan to visit family and I even made a trip to Nebraska to visit a friend as well. During that time frame I stopped by a local game store I use to go to so I could pick up some games and bs with my buddy Mike who ran the store. He was telling me of a huge score he got over the summer and how excited he was. He was at a thrift shop and asked if they had any games. Well it turns out they just got over 1000 CIB snes games and they were sitting in the back. He then offered them $2000 dollars for the lot and they took it. I was super excited but then as the story went on he was explaining that he already made over $18,000 dollars profit on it but there was hardly anything left.
My excitement kinda went away knowing most of it was gone but I still asked him to bring in what he had left. I assumed what would be left was all sports titles but I was actually wrong. This is what he still had available and was still posted on Amazon at the time.

I up until this point never made a purchase online in regards to video games and I honestly did not know a solid price to offer. I desperately lacked knowledge in complete in box collecting and I hardly knew anything of many of the titles here. I then shot him a $300 dollar offer for the lot to see what he would say. It really took him a minute to honestly agree to it and I understood because despite not really knowing much I did feel like it was kinda a low offer but I did not have much spending money since it was the very back in of the trip I was on and I spent most of the money I put aside for the game hunt. Well that same day I had to catch my flight back to Italy and did not have much time left before the post office closed and I knew if he sold it I needed to get it to the post office asap to mail this out. Eventually he agreed to the $300 dollars I offered him and we then peeled the price stickers he had on the plastic bags around them at the time so he knew what games to take off amazon.
When we started peeling the stickers I soon realized that it was adding up quick. It could of easily been at least $800 dollars worth of inventory he had on amazon that he just hooked me up with. Well fast forward to early Feb 2013 and this ties back into not being satisfied with the lacking of game hunting locally in Italy. I finally broke down and made my first gaming purchases online. My stubborn self went 11 years of game collecting without doing so up until this point. I even wrote a blog on this site about being on edge and whether i should do it or not.
But what was my first gaming purchase online? It was NBA JAM 99 for the N64 CIB for a whopping $2 dollars with free shipping. I was not complaining, but why that game? No real reason other then knowing that the journey to a Complete N64 set was on my mind for the past year in a half prior to that point. But I was not sure if I was ever going to pursue that journey and if I did I defiantly did not know that it was going to be the CIB journey. It was the huge super Nintendo lot that I got from my friend that made me realize that I wanted to not only pursue the N64 set as I have wanted to but to also work towards getting the complete collection with boxes.
Fast forward to today and I am nearing the completion of what I set out for.

This is what I have amassed so far when it comes to Nintendo 64. As of this time I am down to the last 9 games I need to complete the set. However it is not a easy task, I have been waiting patiently for the games to show up for sale in near mint or great condition which is not as easy it sounds. Just to give a example I have only added three games to the collection since July 9th with the purchase of Bomberman 2nd attack.

The next game to come to me is a nice Castlevania Legacy of Dark Box and manual. Technically I am still waiting on a cart I ordered separate so I need 10 games. But this does not count haha

And finally the most recent CIB game I received. I actually had this game in my possessing for a whole whopping two hours and then as I left work with my box of games I condensed to one box I managed to forget the box on top of my car and drove off. I was about 10 minutes away when I noticed I did not have the box and I drove back quick but the box was no where in site. A few days go by and still not luck. I lost one of my pricier N64 purchases and one of the games I spent the past year in a half waiting on quality wise. A week later however the girl i know at the post office on base calls me up and informs me that a individual found the box and dropped it off at the post office. I was so relieved and stoked and I am happy to have this game currently sitting on my shelf and in my possessing.

So this is where you come in, maybe I should of posted this list at the top but if you are still reading and with me thanks for hanging in there. I am currently on the hunt for the following 9 CIB games. Condition is a big factor to me but please message me with what you have and if you can help me in my journey to completing my first ever collection of any console.
Bust A Move 99 Hercules: The Legendary Journeys International Superstar Soccer 2000 (English text) International Track and Field 2000 MLBPA Bottom of the 9th NBA Jam 2000 Stunt Racer 64 Top Gear Hyper-Bike Turok 3 Shadow of Oblivion
So I have been a part of Rfgeneration since mid 2011 and I am still looking for the small scores thread. Is there a thread named small scores? Or do people just make a new post in the forums every single time they make a find?
Well Aside from the small scores thread that I hope to find one day. I managed to come across my biggest gaming haul yet. Surprisingly I did not have to resort to ebay for this haul. I managed to find it on a gaming facebook page. The seller mentioned there was 456 in total but I believe it is just over 460. The collection as a whole is more common titles and is missing a lot of big name titles and Rare titles, however it does have a lot of excellent games and I am really excited that it is now apart of my collection. I am slowly adding the games to my Rfgeneration collection over the next week or so.
But enough about my obvious excitement over this. What is the biggest gaming haul you have made? It does not necessarily have to be big in quantity per say. It could be a score off all the Mega mans complete in box, or maybe you found a loose stadium events in the wild. What is your prize possession and why?
The new console generation is among us.
How are the new consoles holding up so far and with new systems what problems might arise. Lets break it down and see what is going on so far.
PS4 - So last week the PS4 released and within 24 hours sold over 1 million units world wide. But with the new system hitting the market, we have seen plenty of videos of the dreaded blue light of death as well as a lot of systems having HDMI port problems. But despite these issues how do you think the PS4 will hold up in the months or years ahead. Microsoft had some of the worse marketing in recent years with the announcement of the Xbox one and its shady business practices. Sony saw this and delivered some of the best marketing to launch there system in the right direction. They portrayed them self as for the gamer while Microsoft looked like they could care less about the Gamer and just wanted your money. Sony is off to fantastic start and for the most part there marketing has been on point for the most part.
So how is the Xbox One holding up?
Xbox One - Just like the PS4 the Xbox one has sold over a million units within the first 24 hours surpassing it's Xbox 360 counter part, despite the $500 dollar price tag. That is $500 million dollars in profit in 24 hours which is nuts. But with the release it has also had its share of problems. We are already seeing videos of disc drive problems or systems scratching disc. There has also been a lot of faulty power supplies. But despite these problems how do you think it will hold out with that extra $100 dollar price point over PlayStation?
Do you think some of the moves they made in marketing earlier in the year will affect them now that they have changed most of those policies such as the online requirement and the restrictions on used games and such. I still have people asking me if they have alot of those policies despite them changing that stuff back in June or July. With that said they have changed a lot since E3 and one of the things they changed was Microsoft's original requirement for the kinect sensor to always be hooked up to your console in order for it to work. It almost sounded ridiculous that it would be a requirement for it to work, but why would they change it and let us use the console without it? To narrow down that answer it pretty much comes down to Sony. If Sony takes off in sales in the months to come you can easily see Microsoft dropping the kinect bundle and dropping the price to $400 dollars. The Kinect is what is driving that $100 dollar increase and in the long run would of hurt Microsoft if they tried to make such large price drops to compete with Sony while still having it bundled.
So where is the Wii U in all of this?
Wii U - They Wii U also had reports of messed up HDMI ports as well as internet connectivity issues when it launched last year. But where is it today? How does it hold up with the other two consoles? Nintendo had a full year head start on its competition, did it manage to grab the consumer?
Sales on the Wii U have been very slow, the system as far as I know has still yet to sell over 4 million units within the one year it has been available. With the PS4 and Xbox One shifting 1 million units each within the first 24 hours, can we safely assume the Wii U might be looked at as a secondary console? We can only hope things change for the Wii U soon. One system that started off in a similar fashion as the Wii U was the 3DS. The 3DS was a huge burden on Nintendo when it launched do to sluggish sales and even helped caused a huge profit loss in 2011. Nintendo took action and with a price drop and some more desirable games releasing sales took off and the 3DS is now a big money maker for Nintendo. I can see the sales of the Wii U heading in the right direction once we see some more desirable titles like Super Smash Bros. This year we will see the new Mario game, Donkey Kong and games like Pikman 3 that has already released that might help boost sales for the system.
So as we can see there is a lot of unanswered questions but things will change. Sony has already reported that less then 1% of the consoles that were shipped out has been reported as faulty and with the new Xbox One we won't know how big of a burden the disc drive error will be til a little way down the road.. The Wii U I think has a bright future despite poor sales and overall I think this is going to be a interesting console war. I know everyone has there favorites but I am a adopter of them all because in the long run they all will have there Pros and Cons.
Update to my N64 collection
So it has been 5 months since my last update on my N64 collection. I have been hard at work and my collection has actually made another big jump since my last post. I think i may be coming to a huge stoppage in games however due to me being on the final stretch. So lets start.
So I think it was around March or so when I made my first post of this journey. This is what I currently had on hand as of that time.
It seems like it was only yesterday I made that original post and I think if I knew what I know now about the value and the time it takes to look into these games I might of been scared off before I started. However I am happy that is not the case and I now proudly own ruffly 240 different N64 titles boxed and I also have 10 more games on order. It would seem as if I would be nearing the end very shortly, but as any of the fellow CIB collectors in here knows, things slow down alot. Some of these titles rarely show up on ebay and when they do I try to only purchase the best of the best. So lets hope for a complete collection sooner then later as this might be my last post about the collection til then
I went ahead and grabbed a few titles that I think stand out value wise and you should defiantly keep a eye out for to avoid paying a arm and a leg. The Blitz Special Edition and Mega man 64 are both sealed. There are a handful of other games I do not own that you might want to keep a eye out for as well and that is. Stunt Racer, Indiana Jones, Worms Armageddon, Bomber Man 2nd Attack, Battle Zone: Rise of the Black Dogs, Daikatana and now as of recent Tom and Jerry: Fists of Furry.
Thanks for checking out my post and If any of the members here have any of the titles below in decent shape and want to sell or trade them please let me know.

Korn and Video Games
Ok first things first. U are probably asking yourself. What does Korn have to do with Gaming??? Well scroll down and experience my journey and find out.
First thing u do is you get your self a ticket to the Concert.
Then u head to the concert. As some of the members here might know, I am currently living in Sicily, Italy. Pretty much no bands come this far south. So I had to do a little traveling up to Rome for this event.
Once I left the airport I had to catch a train.
I got off at my stop and had to start walking. The venue where the concert was going to be was called Ippodromo Capannelle. This was my first impression of the place from the walk down the road. Looks a little beat down.
Outside the front of the Venue
I had a VIP pass so we gained early access to get up front. If you are still wondering how this is about gaming please be patient. It is coming
From the side of the stage right before Korn started.
The drummer starting up the show.
Jonathon Davis the lead singer tearing it up on the bagpipe during the begging of the song shoots and ladders. What a great song.
So the concert was absolutely amazing. Korn always performs amazing and they our great with the crowd. But to this point we still have not seen anything gaming related? So since this post is already pretty photo heavy I am going to skip ahead a bit.
After the show was over as part of my VIP pass I got to meet the band members and then from there I got to experience one more cool thing. With the VIP pass I had it was a One on One gaming session with Jonathon Davis the lead singer of the band.
Before the gaming session started I first had to show him my gaming collection. Video Game collecting is one of my biggest passions along with the gaming industry. So I showed him my collection and he was defiantly impressed. He actually said he had alot of games as well which is pretty cool.
So we started up are gaming session and thankfully it was Call of duty. I did not know which game we would be playing when I bought the pass and I was fearful of getting stuck playing guitar hero. I use to love that game but it has worn out its welcome lol.
Here is a photo of me during the session having fun.
Overall the gaming session was pretty short but it was alot of fun. He informed me after we were done that I was only the second person to ever beat him which is a pretty cool feeling. But before I left I got one more photo with him.
Overall the night was awesome and a once in a lifetime experience. Also sorry for the people with slow computers. I had more then enough photos on this blog which can slow things down.
Update on my attempt for the complete N64 collection Boxed with manuals.
I started this journey with 12 boxed games and then I did my first ever online transaction for a Video game after collecting since 2002. That title was NBA Jam 99 and I bought it on Feb 12th 2013. Then when I did my last update in april I was currently at 77 boxed games. Since then I have made a big jump.
I am now rocking 160 different boxed N64 titles out of the 296 released for the system in America. Over half way and loving it.
While I do have a handful of the titles out of the way I only have a few of the expensive titles. Clayfighter Sculptors cut is by far the highest valued CIB game for the system currently and will probably stay that way for a while. I also ended up getting a sealed copy of Blitz Special Edition and Hydro Thunder which is nice to have. The few titles I have right here range from $90 dollars and up currently which make them some of the more expensive titles in the N64 library in there complete form.
According to Nintendo Age, this is actually the rarest item for the N64 with a rarity of 9/10. It is also now the most expensive item in my whole Video Game collection. Three manuals by them self have just sold for over $1000 dollars each on eBay, which might actually make them the most expensive manual out there across any system but I honestly do not know if that is true.
During my last post I had 2 shelfs displaying my collection but since then I got my other two shelfs in the mail and I now have my complete game collection minus my sealed game collection displayed.
This will however be my last post for a while on getting these N64 games. It is now getting to the point where the titles are not showing up as often or the ones that are available are in to poor of condition for me to want to add it to my collection. But to end this on a good note, I have more then enough duplicates that I would love to trade or sell to some other collectors on the page if anyone is interested.
All these titles have the games in them but only a select handful have the manual. I can give you better photos and detail about the item if you are interested.
All these titles are just empty N64 boxes.
These our the titles I am currently looking for. But please only in CIB form. I now have a ton of duplicates because of finding the box and manual by it self is so low I had to rebuy alot of stuff in it's complete form. If you are trying to get loose cartridge games you can look under my profile as well and only the games that show duplicates are the cartridge games I have for sale or trade. None of my duplicate box games are reflected on Rfgeneration.

So as of Feb 22nd I posted a article talking about going for a complete N64 collection Boxed. I have been stalking ebay daily since then checking out what I can get my hands on. I actually feel as if it is a part time job with the amount of time I have spent on there looking. I have been really picky with box condition as well which has also cost me more money then what I would want to pay on alot of these games but I am enjoying every minute of watching as my collection grows.
So during the time of that blog I only owned 12 boxed N64 games and I had about 25 on order.
Well since then I have came a long ways in a sense.
I now have 77 boxed Games total on hand not including duplicates and I have 21 more on order.
My camera sucks so I included some additional photos that can hopefully help you guys see the titles better.
I went into this collection with the mindset that only a few titles are extremely expensive as in Clayfighter 63 1/3 sculptors cut but I have learned that there are handful of titles that are going to eat away at my funds. Two of the more pricy titles out there I do own now.
Super bowling cost me $237.50 and I already owned Clayfighter 63 1/3 sculptors cut but to get the box it ran me $500 dollars. I have seen some better condition boxes going for around $400 now so hopefully it stays lower for the people who still need to get it and if anyone has the manual for it I would love to buy it off you. It still hurts not having it complete.
But moving on as you can see in the photo the games are in protective sleeves. They are pretty pricy as well but are defiantly worth it if you can afford it. I picked up some from multiple users on ebay and realized some come in different sizes which pretty much made some of the ones I own a waste do to my OCD. I would highly recommend purchasing them thru the Ebay user dgodkin. His cases fit the boxes perfect and he is really easy to work with. He also carries sleeves for the Nes, and Gameboy which fit nicely as well.
Well to finish this blog off, I just order 2 additional shelf's on top of the two i own displayed below so once I have them I will be able to display all my games and by the time I get a complete N64 collection It will take a shelf in a half of space up. If anyone has any questions or has any boxed n64 games up for sale or trade, let me know.
Find Video Game Stores In Your Local Area.
So I was watching a youtube video and in the description it had a link. This link will completely change the way the hunt is. I would of loved to know about this when I was in Nebraska.
So with the link to this site you can type in your Zipcode and it will pop up all the places and addresses within your local area that you can find games. I typed in my old Zipcode in Nebraska and it showed up all the Goodwills, Gamestops, Fleamarkets and everything. If only I would of known about this then. Hopefully this can come of use to my fellow Rfgeners.

N64.
For a few years now I have been wanting to start a complete N64 collection. I already have ruffly about 90 games out of the 296 American released titles. However as of recently I aquired a box of 53 Super nintendo games all in there original boxes with manual. It was at that moment I realized, not only do I want a complete N64 collection but I want a complete collection boxed. This is the hard part thoe, I have about 90 games but only 12 boxed as of right now. I have about 25 on order and I am going to keep at it for about the next year or 2.
Most titles are pretty reasonable but there are a few that are going to cost me a pretty penny with the worse one being clayfighters 63 1/2 sculptor's cut currently going for $1600 as of today with the box and manual. This is not going to be easy but it should be fun. I have tried to talk to co workers and other friends about this epic task. But not to many people understand the mindset and dedication of a collector. Nor do they care.
Hopefully the few that read this shall understand If anyone on the site has some extra boxed games or N64 boxes and manuals up for sale or trade please message me and keep me in the loop. Thanks everyone.
If everything has gone to plan. Below is the sad 12 lonely Games boxed I currently own at my house.
So I was sitting here bored and was thinking about how I have not written a blog in a while. But in all honestly I was stumped. So after I made the decision that I was out of ideas which did not take long at all, I decided to head over to NFL.com to check who the Lions were going to play against tommorow and to my surprize they had a video right on the main page talking about Tecmo bowl.
So I watched it and really enjoyed it. It had a lot of current and former NFL players in it talking about the game that really started it all for Football games. The video brought a smile to my face and despite me never personally playing the game, even know I own it, I still greatly enjoyed it. Then I was thinking If i enjoyed it imagine the reaction of the people who can think back to the late 80's or 90's when this came out and to bring back the memories of so many childhoods I decided to share the wealth. Enjoy the Video that created the topic for this blog. http://www.nfl.com/news/s...en-its-due-nfl-filmsstyle

When does collecting become hording?
I hate using the word Collecting and Hording in the same sentence it is almost a slap in the face to collectors.
When out on the hunt most collectors including my self will buy a game they already own if the value is there and the price is right. I currently have well over a 100 duplicates when it comes to games and I hate the idea of getting rid of any of them. When you can't seem to part with games you have multiples of is that a branch of hording???
I think I would be willing to part with duplicates if it was a even trade for another game of equal value but for me to sell a game it does not happen. More or less money comes and goes and I hate the idea of selling a game and then using the money for dinner or gas or something. Now you are down a game and you are without that money. I just find it better to hold onto it so I don't regret my decisions later.
So Question's of the Day..... 1. When do you feel like it is hording if you feel that way. 2. Do you feel regret when parting with Video Games and Video Game related stuff. 3. Have any of you thought of selling of your collection to moments later realizing that it could cause severe regret or depression. 4. Have any of you went through with selling off your collection or a part of it to immediately buy stuff in it's place because of remorse?
The great video game crash of NOW!!!
I love collecting as much as everyone on this site, but a trend is happening that is scary.
As each new generation of gamer's is born a previous generation of games are forgotten. I was born in 1987 and I owned a Atari and a Nintendo when I was a kid but I am most familur with the Super Nintendo til what is out currently. When I collect I really enjoy picking up new titles for snes and N64 and what not. I do still pick up games for my atari and Nintendo but it is never a top priority. I have been using the price chart http://videogames.pricecharting.com to keep track of value on games and stuff and I have noticed a trend of Atari games being pretty much worthless now Nintendo games slowly dropping and super Nintendo is on top right now.
I feel as each new generation of collectors come out there main priority is going to be there childhood, whether it was PS1 or PS2, each of the previous consoles will slowly fall in value and there will be the other breed of collectors that will be able to pick from the rubble. Super Nintendo games are at a all time high right now as far as I know and it completely makes sense, all of the generation from late 80's early 90's that really grew up on that system are old enough to have jobs and have the cash flow to do so. Give it another 10 years alot of those gamers will be moving on due to marriage or trying to buy a house or whatever the case, the generation that played those games will slowly move on and the next generation wont care as much because it was not there child hood.
How do you guys feel on this Topic? Am I dead wrong or am I on to something.
Buying Games Online
I am proud to say my collection of over 1400 hundred games including the duplicates have all been purchased at local Gaming stores, Thrift stores, Good wills, etc. I enjoy the hunt of finding games and holding them in person and feeling that rush of I just scored.
A lot of people do a lot of Online shopping for games, and if you are into Pal exclusives and stuff of that nature then online might be the only means you have to turn to.
I have always been against Online shopping I have felt that it was cheating but do to being out of Country I am considering turning to online shopping.
What are your feelings on Online shopping in terms of hunting down games. Do you feel like it is right or wrong or just whatever?
