No new toys lately so I thought I'd just post my current gaming set up. Not very impressive, I know. It's only temporarey, I don't have any shelves yet, so everything is kinda shmushed together. I keep all the controllers and accessories in the drawers below, the only reason the 64 controllers are out is because me and my friends play ALOT of 64, so I keep it on easy access. The TV only has one HD input, and it only goes up to 480p, it's kinda old. My Wii is hacked, so I can play games off of an external harddrive. I have to use an A/V switcher just to hook up everything, I have 4 systems and a cable box, the TV only has 3 total inputs, one being HD. I'll update when i get to work on my real gaming room.

Better than my set up
I've got one mono AV input on my 21(?) inch CRT lol
Tell me more about this Wii hack...

@Izret101:The Wii hack is just the standard Twilight Hack, but I went through the extra steps to let it load games through USB. You're better off reading one of the numerous guides on the internet. Just go to wiihacks.com.

Your TV is also a step up from mine. I've only got a 27" CRT in my Game Room. N64 controllers are so weird they can be a pain in the ass to store anyway. Probably handy for more than 1 reason to have them out and accessible.
|
My tv is also a CRT, it's just a high end one, came out right before flat screens became popular and affordable. And yea, N64 controllers are hard to store, no matter how you put them, they take up so much space.

In many ways, a good quality CRT is the best option for gaming. They are less prone to screen burn in and they work with the old light guns. If I only had one TV, I'd want it to be a CRT. Luckily, I just have two, one LCD and one CRT.
And just so you know, no matter how many inputs you have, it will never be enough. My LCD has 2 composite, 2 component, 2 HDMI, 1 VGA and 2 S-Video. And I still have two switch boxes and a stereo receiver with more inputs to handle everything. I actually had to make myself a list of all my hooked up systems and what the proper A/V setting combinations are to use it; and the list is an entire page at 10 point font.

Cool setup, I like the way you do the cables of your N64 controllers, it looks very neat.
Tell you the truth, I could never go back to a CRT again. They take up so much room, the pixels are huge, they often make a very annoying high-pitched sound and they're tiring on the eyes. Not to mention that they're potentially dangerous. I remember a couple of years ago (it was probably around 2002-2003) that I was watching TV with my dad and smoke started coming out of the TV! We quickly turned it off and it smelled like there was a fire inside (which was most likely the case).

If this setup is comfy, that's all you need. On one end of my living room is my 32" HD TV with 5.1 sound, and on the other is a little cubby I made with a 21" monitor and some old stereo speakers. I actually play more at the smaller niche because it just feels more intimate, cozy. I've found over the years that it doesn't matter how high tech I go with my setup, I gravitate to and prefer whatever feels closer and more comfortable.

Thats a nice clean set up sXe! Way better than mine (10 systems+DVD) running thru 3 A/V-S Video switches and a home made 6 speaker surround sound system all running to a 20" no name CRT tv that ive had since I was 17, not to mention the countless surge protector strips lol! There is no wall behind my setup just a black mass of wires.
