Are the Playcast boys two for two in picking great titles this year?  Find out by listening to our discussion of our February 2018 playthrough,  Vandal Hearts, a tactical RPG on the original Sony Playstation.  In this month's Playcast, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) spend time discussing the intricate gameplay that makes Vandal Hearts so special. The guys also attempt to hash out the game's complex story, and chew over the game's graphics and sounds. Is this "cult classic" worthy of making its home in your PS1 library? Did Rich possibly purchase his greatest score of all time? And what the H, E, double hockey sticks is a "waifu?" You won't want to miss this episode of the RF Generation Playcast!

Our 50th episode is on the horizon and we want YOU to send us an audio roast! We'll take some congrats and well wishes, but hilarity and cheap shots are always more than welcome. Audio should be limited to under 2 minutes, so if you're interested, please contact singlebanana about this project.

As always, we are happy to hear your thoughts on this game on our discussion page (linked below). We will respond to your comments and are always happy to discuss the game more. We hope you enjoy our show.  Please be sure to rate and write a review of the show on iTunes to help us increase our listenership. Thanks for the listen!

I am pleased to report that with the generous donations of site members and friends, we obliterated our 2018 fund drive goal! We had an incredible amount of support on our final day and ended at just over 125% of our goal!  A HUGE thanks to all of you who supported us in this effort.  It was so great getting messages from users who I've never spoken to before that love our site, hearing from old members who popped in to donate and catch up, and seeing the outpouring of love and support over social media this year from many of you.  Thank you. Thank you so much for your support of RF Generation!

Please remember that the raffle is just around the corner and I will be posting a video of the drawing on the front page in the upcoming weeks. You can check out a list of all the raffle prize lots HERE

It's a new year and with that comes New Year's resolutions.  In January, the Playcast Crew resolved to play Night School Studio's indie darling, Oxenfree.  In this month's Playcast join hosts, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81) as they discuss the game's story, its mechanics, the music and sound, and get super philosophically deep into the game's overarching question: "If you could go back and change a decision in your life, would you?".  In this episode, the guys also discuss their gaming related New Year's resolutions, their thoughts on Nintendo's latest creation, Nintendo Labo, and their current literary consuming endeavors.  How does Oxenfree compare to other freedom of choice titles like those developed by Telltale Games?  What's in the game's title?  And what "weird" hang-up does Rich have when it comes to playing remakes? The answer to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!

Some of you may have noticed that this episode has arrived a bit earlier than usual.  The reason is because our good friend and site member, Kevin (Buried_on_Mars), who some of you may know from the show or follow his podcast Retro Fandango, is doing a 48 hour Twitch charity fundraiser this weekend.  Shawn and I discuss the fundraiser on the show and we wanted to make sure to get the word out to our listeners in time, since the broadcast is this weekend.  Please be sure to listen to this portion of the show and to learn more about Kevin's goal, please check out the following link: https://buriedonmars.word...ream-on-february-10-11th/

Tomorrow, we officially kick off our annual RF Generation Community Donation Drive (though all donations today also count toward our total raised!).  Our goal this year is to raise at least $1500 by February 28, 2018. This money will be used to pay server costs and any additional funds will be put toward future hosting expenses and/or site improvements. We hope that you will consider contributing to keep RF Generation a free, fun, and useful site for yourself, other members, and those who haven't been fortunate enough to find us yet. We only ask that you donate what you can and even a small amount, like a few bucks, goes a long way and is very appreciated.

Donations are accepted via PayPal and you can donate through the following link:  http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?action=paypalPLEASE be sure to PM me (singlebanana) your RF Generation handle and the email address you used to donate (or include your screen name with your donation via PayPal) so that we can thank you on the front page and determine your number of raffle tickets; only your handle will be used and all donation amounts are private.

Speaking of raffle tickets, for those of you who donate at least $10, you will be entered into a raffle for some fantastic prize lots.  We currently have several items donated by some of our generous members, which can be found HERE.  We are still accepting donations for prize lots, so if you have any items to donate, please reach out to singlebanana via PM.  Rules for this raffle are listed below.

Thank you for your donations to the site and we hope that RF Generation will remain your #1 choice for tracking your collection for years to come!

This December we took some chumps to the mat during our annual Site Competition. Last month, we competed for fastest KO/TKO times and title belts in the classic Nintendo titles, Punch-Out! and Super Punch-Out!. Listen to our Playcast this month as hosts, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81), are joined once again by special guest, RF Generation playthrough all-star, Doug (douglie007) to discuss both Punch-Out! titles and our Top 5 favorite playthroughs of 2017.  In this episode, the guys discuss their earliest memories of the Punch-Out! series, what they believe makes these "sports" titles so beloved by so many gamers, and ponder Shawn's possible abduction by alien lifeforms.  Do both Punch-Out!games still hold up today? And which game outside of our playthroughs did the guys enjoy playing the most in 2017? The answer to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!

This November we played through our first ever title on the original Game Boy. Hosts, Rich (singlebanana) and Shawn (GrayGhost81), are joined by special guest, RF Generation site member, and gray brick aficionado, MetalFRO (aka. The Game Boy Guru) to discuss the classic, action/adventure RPG, Final Fantasy Adventure.  In this episode, the guys discuss the gameplay, the weapons and items, the somewhat convoluted story, and the game's surprisingly complex music.  Did this game pass the classic gaming "sniff test" for all of the guys, or is it just another lackluster relic from days of yore? And which game series does it have more in common with, Final Fantasy or the Mana Chronicles? The answer to these questions and many more in this month's episode of the RF Generation Playcast. You won't want to miss it!
