On retro side, Fokakis79 hosts......hey, wait a minute.....what the??? Yes, some of you may recall that one of the prizes from the December 2014 Donation Drive included choosing and hosting a segment of our playthrough for a month. Fokakis79 has waited patiently for his turn at hosting, and he has chosen the classic Sega beat 'em ups, Golden Axe and Golden Axe II (available on the Genesis, and multiple Genesis collections on various consoles). This series will be co-hosted by singlebanana. On the modern side, join host GrayGhost81 as he takes on an alien onslaught of Orks and the Forces of Chaos in the wildly epic, 3rd person shooter, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine available on the 360, PS3, Steam, and PC.

Submissions exploded into the database in May and our staff would like to take the time to thank all of you who submitted scans and information. I'm sure we will be hearing from our administrators regarding the winner of the Pain Yourself With Submissions contest soon, but for now, let's take a moment to personally thank those who went above and beyond in their efforts in last month.
In May, we more than tripled the number of submissions in April with a whopping 6,469 submissions (up from 2,035 last month)!!! Of these submissions, 4,411 were game submissions, and 2,058 were hardware submissions. Of these, 3,917 of them were images. A big "THANK YOU" to all who contributed to the site in May and to the approvers who worked tirelessly to review and add these new additions to our continually growing database.

In May, we continue to rack our brains with some early RPG tactical warfare in Shining Force and we're still cutely platforming our way through Dreamland strand-by-strand in Kirby's Epic Yarn. This June, join Disposed Hero and singlebanana as we ratchet up the action with the Capcom classics, Mega Man 2 & 3 (NES/3DSVC & the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for GC/PS2/XBox) for the retro playthrough. On the modern side, fill your hands for an all out assault to save the galaxy in the original Mass Effect (360/PS3/PSN/Steam/PC) with your hosts Fleach and GrayGhost81.

The staff at RF Generation would like to once again thank all of you who submitted scans and information to our database for the month of April. Please remember to help celebrate RF Generation's 11th birthday by competing in our Pain Yourself With Submissions contest as it continues through the month of May. If you haven't joined the contest yet, don't worry, it just got underway and there is plenty of time left to earn points for submissions and by contributing in other areas of the site. A complete list of rules for the contest are located here. But, before we get ahead of ourselves, let's take a moment to thank our top contributors for April.
In April, we had a total of 2,035 submissions and of those, 1,870 were game submissions, and 165 were hardware submissions. Of these submissions, 1,105 of them were images.
Our top submitters (those with a minimum of 100) for April were: Shadow Kisuragi 352 singlebanana 338 kaysow 189 josulli3 183 Sauza12 175 Flee 119 Techie413 90 (hey, close enough!)
Top approvers for the month included: Shadow Kisuragi 1,120 Flee 297
Thanks to everyone who made a submission or helped with our approvals for the month of April. Your submissions are what keep this site going and up-to-date. Good luck to everyone in this Pain Yourself With Submissions contest!
For those of you who have been around the site for a while, you know that we have a tradition here at RF Generation that coincides with the anniversary of our site's creation. RF Generation is in it's 11th year of existence, and to celebrate, it's time for our annual PAIN YOURSELF WITH SUBMISSIONS contest. As all of you know, member submissions are what keeps this site going and ensures that we have the most up-to-date and best video game database on the planet. To commemorate our anniversary, we hold an annual contest to see who can "contribute" the most to the site during an allotted period of time (*see the description of contributions and points below) .
So, here's how it works. From the time this article posts (April 29th) until June 8th, you make as many submissions as humanly possible. Our dedicated database staff will review the absurd amount of submissions and at the end of it all, one of you gets a super sweet prize package, which includes your choice of $60 worth of gaming goodness. Essentially, you win a shopping spree (not to exceed $60 and items have to be game related) on GameGavel, eBay, or Amazon, and we pick up the tab. Of course, you'll also be the coolest kid in town as you strut around in your new, official RF Generation Ringer T-shirt.

And on the modern side, join host GrayGhost81 as he plays through the wildly stylistic platformer and 10th installment of the popular Kirby series, Kirby's Epic Yarn on the Nintendo Wii.

Once approved, you will see YOUR scan(s) in the database and in your collection. Plus, you'll have the great feeling of being a small part of this site! How cool is that?

As many of you on the site know, I'm an avid collector of Atari 2600 and NES titles. While I'm going for a complete, licensed collection of the later, I am very realistic about my collecting goals for the 2600. For those of you who love and collect for this system like I do, you know that this goal is impossible for the Average Joe. During the days of the 2600, licensing laws were quite more lackadaisical and it seems like anyone and everyone with programming skills tried their hand at developing games for the 2600. Many of these games saw small production numbers, and this has resulted in astronomical prices in today's market due to the high demand of serious Atari collectors. And let's face it, I'm not one of those guys who can justify paying ridiculous amounts just to have a game in my possession. On the other hand, I'm not the kind of guy who wants to play an emulated version of a game on his PC. So what's a guy like me to do?

We started out January of this year with a *BANG* by shooting our way through Angel Land and the streets of some unknown Middle Eastern locale. Currently, we are tromping through Hyrule to rescue the descendants of the Seven Sages and unlocking the mystery behind the 9 doors of a sinking vessel. The month of March will be no slouch either and will be jam-packed with furious action! On the retro side, we join an unlikely, and undead, hero in his quest to defend the land of Gallowmere from the return of an evil sorcerer in MediEvil for the PSX and PSN. On the modern side, we make our first return to the Batman series (since our playthrough in April 2013) as we once again take up the cowl and cape of the Dark Knight in the third installment of the Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Origins on the PS3, 360, WiiU and PC. We hope that you will join us for one, if not two, great games next month!
