haha I used to mod the hell out of the old EA Sports NHL games. There was an AHL (minor league hockey) conversion for NHL 2002 that was a hell of a lot of fun (our AHL team is a hell of a lot better than the NHL one we have you see).

Wow I had no idea there was an AHL mod, we had an AHL team here called the Saint John Flames, which was (obviously) a farm team for the Calgary Flames. It would've been awesome to play the roster than won the 2001 Calder Cup.

Score three for the Dreamcast!

I wish Minnesota still had a good Hockey reputation outside our college teams.  Then they sold theirs and watch the Vikings and Twins now in the same building.  Which reminds me one of our thuggins on the Wild (Boogard) is opening up a Hockey Fighting Camp for kids in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CA.

NHL 2004 was the best year for modding. The models were hacked to allow bigger/better textures for realism. Jerseys were updated with accurate designs, vintage jerseys were made, fantasy jerseys were made. Goalies were updated with accurate goalie pads and masks, each goalie with their own personal set (no more of that team sharing bull). Players were updated with highly detailed cyberfaces. Rosters edited daily. You could even add jerseys to a specific team (up to 10 per team) if you ran out of room for your creations, all with the proper tools, of course.

Guess I know what I'm re-installing tomorrow haha.

btw Boogards fighting camp is lols. I want a tshirt.

In my opinion, you're missing a few of the best sports games of all time in my opinion.

Virtua Tennis - Dreamcast
NHLPA Hockey 93 - Genesis
Baseball Stars - NES
Tecmo Superbowl - NES

These games (maybe excluding Virtua Tennis), can still be played today with much enjoyment.

I know people that STILL have Tecmo Superbowl parties.

hmmmmmmmm

This are in particular order

NHLPA 93 - Genesis
Madden 93 - Genesis
NFL 2k - Dreamcast
NHL 2k6 - Xbox 360
NBA Jam - Arcade
Baseball Star - NES
Virtua Tennis - Dreamcast
Top Spin - Xbox
Tecmo Superbowl - NES

1.Baseball stars (NES)
2.Tee Off (DC)
3.Tiger Woods 07 (Wii)
4.Super Bowling (SNES)
5.Virtua Tennis (DC)

curse you Tan, you Canuck!

I've had The Hockey Night Theme stuck in my head all night at work.  At least its noisy there so nobody cares if I sing aloud.

1. Mario Tennis (N64) *My favorite game, ever*
2. NHL '93 - NHL '96 (Gen, SNES)
2a. NHL '98 (SNES) custom players and trades add a whole lot to the game
3. NBA Jam Tournament Edition (SNES) gotta love the superdunks, best played with four players
4. John Elway's Quarterback (NES)
5. Double Dribble (NES)

Sports games are pretty much my least favorite genre but there are a few that I do enjoy:

1 - World Championship Baseball - INTV  (The version of Major League Baseball that allows reclusive hermit types, such as myself, to enjoy a great game of baseball. The Intellivision controllers are utilized to perfection with this game.

2 - Miniature Golf - Atari 2600 - A game I had a tough time finding back a quarter century ago. I still think it's a blast.

3 - Bowling - Atari 2600 - One of the best vid game x-mass gift's I ever got.

4 - Golf - Odyssey 2 - A lot like the Atari 2600 Golf game but I played this one a lot before I got that Atari version so I'm more attached to it.

5 - PBA Bowling - INTV - Pretty complex for when it was released. So much different then it's contemporaries. It took a bit to get used to it but once you do it's quite fun.

I should've added Transworld Snowboarding (Xbox) to that list as well. Awesome game I wish would become BC on the 360.

5. California Games (Commodore 64) 5.25\" disk version
I loved the surfing and footbag events the most.

4. is for...... 4th & Inches (Commodore 64)
Pass to Quick! Good two player fun although I doubt I could get anyone to play me at this ever again. Sad I remember scoring touchdowns with a big ole nose tackle, rumbling towards the end zone hehe.

3. TV Sports Football (Commodore Amiga)
When I first saw this game at a games convention, I thought I must have time travelled into the future because the graphics and sound were so good lol. It even has a Madden type character at half time.

2. John Madden American Football '92 (Genesis/Megadrive)

The ambulance coming on to the pitch and smashing into half the team still makes me laugh! Check out this hilarious clip of TEH AMBULANCE KILLING MACHINE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_138p6uzhUk

1. NHL 2001
Me and my bro would set the injuries and fights sliders to maximum and then the winner was the one to injure the most players.

It's official, Grind Session now replaces Tony Hawk 2 in my list. Great game, addictive as hell. I wish I had found this game years ago!
